Hi Amanda, Hope you are well. Been a long time. As I work with fabric all the time, I would not recommend fray check/stop for fabric shoe making. It dries rock hard, making it difficult to work with. Stick with a stretch interfacing (iron on or sew in). Tc.
Stretch interfacing is £7.56 a metre and it’s only 12” wide in totality; if you’re making 2 to 3 jackets a year, it starts to get expensive, when considering the cost of tailoring interfacing, fabric, antique Victorian buttons etc etc; but the thing about making your own is that it ends up costing more than a shop bought purchase. That said, the fit and fabric quality isn’t matched by the high street and neither is the detailing. I’m looking at I can make shoes after Julie sent me a clip some time ago. I’d like to make some black suede long boots embellished with garnets and threading and I was thinking about making the shafts and sewing them onto a pre-bought suede boot which has the pointy toes and Cuban mid heels I like, but I’m now thinking of making the boots (it might be a little out of my skills range at the moment). Wondering how long till I start carving my own Cuban heels with a dremel.
Lea Hello I subscribed last year for your online course. I was told I should have access to the platform every time. But since a few week I've lost access, and no answer to my mails. Not honest!!!
Hey Lea, did this get sorted for you? It's always best to email our team at info@icanmakeshoes.com as comments can get a little lost in here. You have lifetime access to the online course as soon as you sign up so do email us if you're still having an issue :)
Thank you once again, Amanda. I love the way you get down to the nitty-gritty, when showing all us wannabes what to do!
This is soooo soothing and the value for detailing is very inspiring 🌸🌸
That is so amazing 🤩

I want o know how I can pay someone to make shoes for me ? Please send me a message with the info if you know anyone who can and will!
I recommend researching shoemakers and shoe designers and asking them directly if they can make shoes for you ⭐️
Yip fray stop deffo stops the fraying
Poor illustration of shoemaking. Video is for everyone not just for your friends
