Interesting, I just disassembled mine to wash the bag since the vacuum works perfect, but smells due to 15 or so years of filtering air. I couldn't get the nut off the fan attached to the motor, not much room and didn't want to break it. Bearings are fine so just cleaned it all real good. These Orecks are like old Snapper mowers or coleman stoves, quality made!
Oreck vacuums belong to the category what I definitely like. Simple lightweight direct air upright. Even the smaller Oreck is excellent, but this is definitely more desirable. Only downside is that especially the smaller model is super noisy. But otherwise fantastic design. I can't wait to see more videos of this 👌
Years ago, I worked in a piano refurbishing shop and learned a good trick to use with screws. Put the screw in the hole and turn it backwards with a little pressure pushing it it. 9 times out of 10 you will feel and hear a little click as the screw finds the threads already cut in the hole. Then when you tighten it it uses the threads already cut in the material. This puts less wear on the screw hole and keeps them from getting roached. Just sayin' Mike
"The ball bearing cage (also known as a ball bearing retainer or ball separator - these are used interchangeably), is the component in a ball bearing that separates the balls, maintains the balls symmetrical radial spacing, and in most cases, holds the bearings together."
My newer 21 has a cracked housing, trying to get fan off but nut is seated flush so will play with it but idea is to use this motor in another model, one with a smaller fan housing if that fin fits the shaft. Hopefully I get the wiring correct. LOL
Sir I really do appreciate your videos. The camera work is good, the content is great...but with respect the audio between comments it is distracting at best. Not your problem at all of course...but figured I'd mention it. Please feel free to ignore :)

I just wish they didn't lie about the weight (claiming 8 pounds, when it's more).
Great video , really appreciate every video you put up . I’m learning so much .
Thank you! 😍 You helped me a lot! I was able to clean mine! ☺️ I'm not afraid to unscrew it anymore!
Fabulous!

I’m interested now of what this one will get on the airflow box since it dose have that different motor sounding to it
Airflow and suction video has just been posted. Enjoy!
VacLab I’ll check it out

All in all, it looks so much better now. It was just disgusting before!

Do you realize that this video you are complaining about is more than 3 years old? 🤣
@@VacLab Not so much a complaint as a observation but thanks for the video in any case. Take care :)
What kind of grease is best? I put a tiny amount of frog lube on a fan motor I cleaned and it smelled for a long time
For high speed bearings, Mobil EMB is hard to beat.
Great video
Thanks.
What grease do use on the Bearings that wont attract to much Dirt
Mobil EMB. You'll see it a lot in my repair videos.
vacuum the house with oreck xl21
I need to make a video of the handle repair and new brushroll installation first. Many more videos are coming using this machine. 👍
