Yes as South Africans we acknowledge and appreciate the people of Tanzania they really did accommodate and assisted us in our Liberation. Mwalimu was also our Father and Teacher. Sante sana our Tanzanian brothers and sister.
What a nice couple ! They just bursting with enthusiasm and spirit ! This what we Africans can relate to ! Yes , 🇿🇦 South Africa is a multi - national , multi - cultural land ! We have 11 official languages🇿🇦 . Some of us are fortunate to speak all 11 languages fluently ! The reason for the change in the anthem was to accommodate all the different ethnicities in our country ! That is why our national anthem🇿🇦 includes 5 different languages ! These are the 5 most widely spoken and used ! English is the media of education in South Africa ! That is why most South Africans are very fluent in the lingua franca !
Well guys Txs I am Ethiopian and brought up in South African this anthem is special to me... the anthem is compromised of 4 languages... Zulu, Afrikaans Nkosi, Sotho Dankie, Nkosi, also Ethiopian Haile Seliesa helped him in military training in Ethiopia
Nkosi Sikelel' iAfrika was composed in 1897 by Enoch Sontonga, a Methodist mission school teacher. The words of the first stanza were originally written in Xhosa as a hymn. Seven additional stanzas in Xhoza were later added by the poet, Samuel Mqhayi. A Sesotho version was published by Moses Mphahlele in 1942.
Nkosi Sikelela (the first part) was used by the ANC (the then struggle movement during apartheid and currently on power). After transition/ modulation of the song, there is Stem van Suid Afrika, which was used during apartheid. This move was done during Nelson Mandela tenure, to unite the South Africans and destroy the division, to promote reconciliation and to forge rainbow nation. The song is in 5 different languages, while South Africa has 12 Official Languages.
We 🇿🇦 South Africans if we hear this anthem and the history behind it ; than we're automatically ready and charged for battle ! We can take on the whole🌎🌍🌏 and beat it !🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
You should definitely hear the anthem when Kurt Darren sang and the sound was cut and the whole crowd could be heard! That was the best moment in rugby ( national anthem).
Hearing South Africa’s national anthem just brings me back memories of my home I am South African and hearing the national anthem just brings me to Tears of joy
😂😂the part where it switches up is the afrikaans (basically south african dutch) part If im not wrong it was taken from the old afrikaans nation anthem from the apartheid regime
The first part of the song is the same as Tanzania and when they changed to Afrikaans language they sang (die stem) which means the voice and I would like the Afrikaans speaking people explain the whole part because I don't know what they're saying either 😂 🇿🇦
The afrikaans part is as follow Out of the blue of our heavens Out of the depths of our seas Over our everlasting mountains Where the echoing crags resound
So, Nkosi Sikelela was not the original SA national anthem. It was Uit die Blou the national anthem for SA. However after the New Democratic govt was elected Nkosi Sikelela was added since it was the song that was sung by the black people and ANC in particular mostly to pray for Africa as a whole due the struggles faced by Africa. When it was added it was adapted to include other Nguni and Sesotho languages as it was originally written in IsiXhosa. It was then combined with Uit die Blou the previous SA national anthem hence the transposition to a higher key and the English part was also added thereafter and initially ended as “let us live and fight for freedom “ which was changed as obviously with a history like SA they could not sing as if inciting violence so changed to “strive for freedom”.

@@khanyi8512 I agree. Many of the stalwarts/veterans (you can name them) were in agreement and shared that vision with the rest of the voters. I mention Mandela as the "face" of the struggle internationally.
The flag and the anthem symbolize the combination of whites and blacks. The first part of the anthem is the song of Africa, and the second is the anthem of the white inhabitants of South Africa sung in their language and english. The colors green, black and yellow on the flag are the colors of the African national congress, and white, red and blue are the colors of most European countries, for example, the Netherlands from which most of the ancestors of the white South Africans came
