Kane is 1of the few golden age mcs that have grown old gracefully.I dont sense an ounce of bitterness. Most cats would've ripped Jay and said since they pit him on they feel he shouldve done more like give em a mansion n some mills in the account.Kane just takes everything in stride.Although imo Jay shouldve done more.
Lenny Dixon Yo Lenny man, STFU!!! I am not dissing Jamar or suggesting that BDK doesn't like Jamar!!! WTF are you talking about??? All I am saying is that BDK's history is longer and deeper. He can explain things like Jay-Zs origin in depth because he was a big fish back in the day. Now MIND your FUCKING business... Goddamn!!!!
Lord Jamar is cool, but it seems that all he does these days is troll and say things that he knows will cause controversy.. Don't get me wrong, I respect him. He's legendary. But I'm getting tired of seeing him on all the time saying stuff that he knows will cause a reaction. It just gets old.
So many people will never understand the amazing talent this man was. He was just a pure rhymer. Look up "Raw" by Kane and Kool G Rap, and put that against Eminem, Kendrick, whoever you want man. That nigga is the truth.
I wonder how Jazz felt once he found out Jay Z was chosen to work with BDK instead of himself after he helped Jay Z get on the record with BDK to begin with.
Salute to BDK... Taste of Chocolate was the first tape I ever bought with my own money, I was 11 years old and the dude at the store said don't have yo mama coming up here going off on me. Dude at the store looked out big time. LMAO the days
the line about the eyebow was simple saying that Jay notice that after big daddy kane went on tour by the time he left a city they done took his style and ran with it making it hard for people to see who really came up with the idea in the first place...when you rock a city so hard and you go back after only being there once you see the impact you made just by how the city hiphoppers was acting before you came vs when kane left
wow lol Vlad really doesn't understand lyrics? "Seen the same thing halpen to Kane, 3 cuts in your eyebrow trying to wilout" All Jay was saying is dudes at the time was biting his style, just like they use to bite Kane. Thats wasn't too deeep to understand lol
I was thinking the same thing...but then when Kane explained it I was like, uh, you sure you even remembering that conversation with Jay? I don't think he did and was just trying to say something good to brush it over. Respect.
Everybody's on some ish! LOL. Here's some knowledge for you on Kane: BDK is still currently touring nation and worldwide... does shows, all around, all year long. He's made a collective album called 'Las Supper - Back to the Future', just last year... it's an an old school soul/hip hop fusion album with live band... and his lyrics and flow are STILL, always... on point. He drops singles, every year, a few of them... with various hip hop artists, features and his own singles... just not a new solo album, since 98's Veteranz Day'. Don't get it twisted... he doesn't need Jay-Z's money... Kane's been doing this for over 26+ years and is enjoying his life and music He does it his way and is successful at it. Just 'cause he isn't in the media coverage, 24-7 like Sean Carter's life is, doesn't mean he's not eating right. He's doing great. Hov, pays respect... every now & then to the forefathers of the game (as proven with the Hot 97 Summer Jam & Barclays Center cameos). And besides all of that... he's one of the most down to earth, great people in Hip Hop, and in general... who really gives his all, in his performances and takes the time for his real fans.
1st off, shout out Vlad for this clip...lately the gossip clips you been posting about who screwing who has been wearing me out! Secondly, Big Daddy!!! Love your demeanor, love how you just answer and even when you can flip the real answer for a fake one to get a buzz, you solid with it. Vlad needs more clips of you and other pioneers for real.
I think it's a good comparison... Ra and Nas didn't have mass appeal... they had HUGE fan bases... Jay and Kane had hit singles that broke the genre barrier... all four are ill lyricists though...
Samuel Sjöstedt Gonzalez Basically Rakim was the better lyricist (best of all time)....but Big Daddy Kane had the flow, crazy punchlines, swagger, and performance....so BDK was a better all around emcee and entertainer...but he wasn't touching Rakim lyrically,
Legend one of the greatest MC's to ever touch a mic. Kane birthed a lot of these niggas Kane is the original B.I.G. I truly think he don't get ALL the credit he deserves!
Most young cats don't remember how huge BDK was back in the day. BDK had a very big cross-over adult impact . I remember the tour. BDK appealed to a large audience during the 90's. A few of his hits at that time was produced byTeddy Riley. Which Teddy Riley was one of the top R&B producers.
Flow of Wisdom Not only that, but BDK's style could actually appeal to a Patti Labelle audience cuz he was on that female tip. That was during that New Jack Swing Era and you mentioned Teddy Riley so yea it all made sense.
kane believed in jay z before alot of people and vlad you need to understand that kane is a pioneer to this rap shit and he wasnt wrong he followed his gut and was right about the talent jay z has had this whole time. Jay Z should thank him
"I came back and it's plain,Y'all niggaz ain't rappin the same. F the flow y'all jackin our slang. I seen the same shit happen to Kane Three cuts in your eyebrow tryin to wild out.

That Jay-Z line was a shout out to Kane, not a diss. It was about people imitating his style. Rappers trying to look like Jay-Z (hat tilted, chains, swag) the way they tried to look like Kane in the 90's.
As articulate and smooth spoken as Kane is, why did he stutter so much during the answer about the eyebrow story that Jay-Z gave? Not trying to create anything, but I have to admit, it makes me wonder...
There was a VHS tape back in the day that the video was a big ass cypher with jay z when he was mad young and like 20 other MC's..... I'm talking early 90's tape.... Does anyone know the name of that VHS tape?
Big daddy Kane was the sh%t back in the day ain't no have steppin is a classic, this dude is still smooth today these young cats could learn a lot listening to this guy. He put Jay-Z on when he was a nobody. Jay-z should get in touch with Big daddy Kane invite this man to his California Mansion or out to lunch or something, you never forget the people who gave you your start in life.
The Jay-Z reference doesn't make as much sense when you leave out the set-up bars. Instead of starting at "I seen the same thing happen to Kane" start at the bars that set that line up. "...then I skated to 4 (million sold) before I went on tour, I came back and it's plain you niggas ain't rapping the same, fuck the flow you jacking our slang, I seen the same thing happen to Kane". When you get the whole picture it makes a lot more sense and there's no way you could take it as a diss. Niggas bit everything about Kane, from the slang to the flow to the look. Jay was simply saying niggas were biting his style in the same way.
I saw that clip of him bringing a young Jay Z, out during his concert, jay had some gold teeth in his mouth, he was really young. Then you see Dame Dash going hard for Jay, him blowing up, then shaking everybody and doing Jay. lots of people want him to acknowledge their part in his career, but its never enough
A lot of people keep saying Jay wouldn't have made it without this and that person. He would have because he started his OWN LABEL when nobody wanted to sign him. I heard Damon say that out his own mouth. Sure, Jay may have hopped on a few cats records before that but it wasn't life changing money. Maybe rocafella start up money off that and other hustles at the most. And then he stayed consistent to this day.
True. I just think when people say that they just mean it would have taken him a different route, but in the words of Jay himself: "I'm hearing mothafuckas saying they made Hov, yea well ok so MAKE ANOTHER HOV".
QuadrantBottomHalf you know how many niggas try too say somebody was the reason for jay success...they be like if it was not for jaz ,or dame and biggs,or biggie passing,or kane, jay would not be here...smh i even heard some niggas be like if was not for jermanine dupri putting jay on money aint a thang or big l freestyling jay would not be here and its all laughable..jay was destined for success and when it was his time he took full advange of it

Kane is one of my all time favorite hip hop artist. That's when it was real and it was insulting to copy someone's style. Glad he was honest about Jay Z. No one would have guessed he would get as big as he has.
So, Jaz got Jay to spit on a tape with Kane, and pretty much Kane chose Jay over Jaz. So in a sense Jaz did help him get out there in the beginning but he probably got kinda jealous because he was the one tryna get a deal with Kane and Kane ended up choosing his protege over him lmao! It sucks but hey, history is history and facts are facts. Much love to Kane though he's an OG! #NuffRespect

People don’t understand what he did for Jay’s career. He’s the reason why Jay is so successful and to me he should of gotten that success too. People still credit Big L and Nas. L did give Jay some exposure to the world with that freestyle but it doesn’t mean he made him it was Kane. Kane to me is one of the best rappers of all time and deserves his respect. I’m not a huge fan of Jay but I can also put him in the conversation though I’m not a huge fan of most of his music. People nowadays are wilding and need to stop discrediting legends like Kane.
I think he's a year younger that jay, yet he seems much older. Maybe it's me but I just don't see Jay as an "old" dude, also Nas. I don't label them "old heads". But Kane is definitely golden era hip-hop.
