Yellowstone's casting director deserves a spot in a hall of fame somewhere for the job he/she did assembling the cast of this show. Every actor they got is absolutely perfect for every role available. You can't imagine Rip being played by anybody other than Cole Hauser, Beth by Kelly Reilly, and so on. Most perfect casting EVER!

Such a class act this Kevin Costner. Never had the occasion to listen to him before in an interview, and this made me get to know him and see him in a different light . All the respect for him.
Kevin Costner has created something very special with Yellowstone! This series has grabbed something inside of me from the very 1st episode. I couldn't wait for each new episode to be released and as I followed it and shared it with my family and friends, I've watched as the same thing that so gripped me by it, also gripped them about it. This has been by far the most enjoyable series I have ever experienced and I'm so excited to hear season 3 will be released in June! Kevin and the other actors have done a fantastic job! Whether you love or hate a particular character they are so well done that I live them or hate, not hate but view as a bad guy or gal vs good it's good vs evil yet most if not all characters are made up of both! They have all done a fantastic job! This story goes back to the roots of this country. I also love how he talks about his upbringing. When I was 13 my dad was in Vietnam in his early 30's. He was career Army and a Drill Sgt when he was shipped over and we hated all we saw on the news of the war just as he and his family did and we as kids lived in both worlds when dad was overseas. We came home to live near our grandparents and attend schools filled with civilian children. When he was home we would be stationed at various US Army Post's around the country. Where our schools were sometimes on post, sometimes off post, but always filled with a high percentage of Army kids who had much different experiences than the civilian kids did. We had very different views than the kids in the civilian world did as well. In Kevin being the patriarch even though he and I are close in age, I also see in him the strength and courage of my dad and the economy of words he uses, while at the same time the messages contained in the few words used spoke volumes and you'd better pay attention to grasp what's being conveyed with so few words because he is conveying an incredible amount of information that can and often does impact your life greatly!
What a phenomenal cast and show. I hope this writer can make this show last for many many years. Thank you Paramount for supporting such entertainment.

The beauty of the horses and the land just takes you to another place and I love that! Thank You! I met Kevin Costner on the set of Field of Dreams. He was wonderful. You felt like all he had to do at that moment was chat with you. No pretense, no rushing out, and whatnot. He wasn't a "movie star", he was Kevin and your paths just happened to cross for a moment.
It's refreshing that he spent quite a bit of time discussing the writing. So often the writers are overlooked and the onscreen stars garner the attention. Without the writer(s) there is no story - no characters, dialogue, action, or locations. Thank you!
As much as this is such a high calibre show, well made from set to casting, I've marvelled at the writing all along. Best damn writing I've seen in a while.

This is how a professional interview is conducted. You ask an intelligent question and then be quiet and listen to the answer. 90% of the interviews today are terrible. Interviewer asking a 2 minute question and giving their opinion before the person can ever answer the question. Constant babbling and talking over the guest.Plus it helps that Peter Travers is an excellent film critic.
Kevin has a way of roping ( no pun intended ) you in whatever role he plays. He has such a quiet spirit. I remember watching Revenge. I was crying like a baby at the end. When you watch these episodes and know you can't miss a conversation because each one is relevant to the next moment it is just excellent writing.
Costner is what us Brits would call a "real American". By that I mean intelligent, articulate, inquisitive, courageous, artistic, talented, honest - and totally obsessed with the question of how they became "American" in the first place. Fascinating.
I'm happy that Brits can still see good Americans like Costner and Obama exist in this country --- I was really fearing that Scumbag Trump and his right-wing terrorists had totally destroyed the image of moral and decent America to the rest of the world --- let's hope that type of slimeball never holds power again!

My Father and Grandmother were born in Montana, a line of our family, still ranches there. My great uncle was the first County commissioner of Lewis and Clark County, MT
I served with and know several veterans that are from Montana. They are some of the best and most reliable people, a toughness that's difficult to find. I'd stand by them any day. They love this country with everything and every fiber of their being. Just good folks.
I can honestly say Yellowstone is the best TV show I have ever seen since MacGyver in the 80s. I don’t think I enjoyed watching a TV show as much as I did watching Yellowstone in my adult life..in the past two decades. What a masterpiece...
Kevin is the anchor that holds it all together. His stillness amongst the chaos is a juxtaposition that would cement a great loss if he were to chose not to return for a season. I love the writing, the scenery, the well drawn characters, and I hope he realises how instrumental he is to the show as a whole. It wouldn't be Yellowstone without him, irrospective of how great the cast is. Just saying.
His portrayal of Devil Anse Hatfield was exactly the same way. A lot of his characters are very similar, but I have absolutly 0 problems with that. In fact I wanna see more of it.
BigDH28 I’ve been flicking through Netflix, Prime and Stan never able to find anything to watch. It’s been literally weeks before finally stumbling upon Yellow Stone. I had to stop watching it after Lee was killed because it was just so powerful. I believe America might as well vote for and needs someone like Kevin Costner as President. I live in Australia 🇦🇺 we are called Jackaroos or a horseman when we’re off the land. I might mention I feel Yellow Stone is well written.

Even though I LOVE every movie he’s ever done! They really outdid themselves picking out the cast, and the storyline is absolutely amazing! I could watch this series forever!! Rip and Beth’s love story is awesome, I have to say they they add so much excitement to this series! But it’s really the whole cast, the writers and producers that make this series #1!!! 100% agreed Randee, ABSOLUTELY ADDICTING it is-:) I have very little down time and what little time I have I try to use wisely. I remember when it first premiered last summer I was skeptical because it was on a Channel that I wasnt familiar with so I thought this is gonna be cheesy, I mean its on one of these higher channels that I never heard of so how good can it be, right. Well I cant tell you how excited I get when wednesday rolls around, I feel like a dam kid feels on christmas eve lol. Im seriously shocked that its not on NBC or CBS, but I guess thats a good thing considering the language and nudity. My only complaint is we gotta wait 9 friggn months for the next season:(
I have to say that I really dig Kayce, played by Luke Grimes. He is so torn between what's right for his wife and son and what he has lived with his whole life. The whole cast is phenomenal but I love watching Luke Grimes play Kayce.
Love Yellowstone and love that John’s (my father’s name) ancestors came from Tennessee to Texas just as I did. My mother, God rest her soul, would say “We are of the soil; because so many of us are planted here.” It’s a true connection that many have with where they came from and where they are today.
Absolutely love this series. So pleased to see that there will be a third season. Going to Dyersville this year to the Field of Dreams site and Montana next year, staying on a bison ranch near Yellowstone national park. Costner inspired double whammy 😁
Best show on TV for sure! I am so glad I listened to my hubby and gave this show a shot. I would have never watched simply because I do not like Western films/shows, but boy is this more than that. I binged the 4 seasons and absolutely fell in love with the cast. Even those I didn’t like off the bat. Taylor Sheridan is brilliant! He made this NYC gal appreciate horses, ranching, cowboys etc. I want to now visit Montana and ride horses as well. Newfound appreciation for that lifestyle. 🤗
I moved to Montana in 2014 in the same area that Yellowstone takes place and been to Livingston for dinner because I lived 30 min from there. When I tell you it’s a beautiful place I can’t tell you enough. Absolutely breathtaking. Unfortunately after 5 months I left and went back east because my relationship didn’t work out. Which was my reason for moving out there. If you get the opportunity to visit out there. Please do!
i agree with you 100%. Kevin has always been my favorite actor of all time. I know the reason is because his movies are so down to earth, just like he is. maybe I said that wrong, but all his movies make sense. I can't stand the way-out movies. They make no sense and I wil not watch them. I will be glad when Kevin makes another movie, but as long as Yellowstone is being filmed, I know he doesn't have the time and I"m sure it to hard learning lines for both. Yellowstone should be an award winning show too.
Never have I been so emotionally intwined in a show and it's characters. The little jewels of knowledge that are sprinkled throughout the writing of this show is masterfully done.
Kevin is an excellent "listener" as well as an actor, producer, and director. He waited until the interviewer completed his question before responding. Excellent trait amongst his other talents.

While Yellowstone is in my opinion fair, Kevin’s input and foresight saves the premise and intention. This interview gave me a more positive view of Yellowstone than I had to this point. I’ll look at it in better frame now.
Brilliant actor and Yellowstone brought me to tear a couple of times. Very powerful. The scene at his grandsons funeral with his daughter in law having a very intimate conversation regarding her child. Got me good. He is definitely made for playing a western character. Good job Kevin fantastic role. Hope there's much more to come buddy.

I served with and know several veterans that are from Montana. They are some of the best and most reliable people, a toughness that's difficult to find. I'd stand by them any day. They love this country with everything and every fiber of their being. Just good folks.

I can honestly say Yellowstone is the best TV show I have ever seen since MacGyver in the 80s. I don’t think I enjoyed watching a TV show as much as I did watching Yellowstone in my adult life..in the past two decades. What a masterpiece...
Kevin is the anchor that holds it all together. His stillness amongst the chaos is a juxtaposition that would cement a great loss if he were to chose not to return for a season. I love the writing, the scenery, the well drawn characters, and I hope he realises how instrumental he is to the show as a whole. It wouldn't be Yellowstone without him, irrospective of how great the cast is. Just saying.

His portrayal of Devil Anse Hatfield was exactly the same way. A lot of his characters are very similar, but I have absolutly 0 problems with that. In fact I wanna see more of it.

BigDH28 I’ve been flicking through Netflix, Prime and Stan never able to find anything to watch. It’s been literally weeks before finally stumbling upon Yellow Stone. I had to stop watching it after Lee was killed because it was just so powerful. I believe America might as well vote for and needs someone like Kevin Costner as President. I live in Australia 🇦🇺 we are called Jackaroos or a horseman when we’re off the land. I might mention I feel Yellow Stone is well written.

100% agreed Randee, ABSOLUTELY ADDICTING it is-:) I have very little down time and what little time I have I try to use wisely. I remember when it first premiered last summer I was skeptical because it was on a Channel that I wasnt familiar with so I thought this is gonna be cheesy, I mean its on one of these higher channels that I never heard of so how good can it be, right. Well I cant tell you how excited I get when wednesday rolls around, I feel like a dam kid feels on christmas eve lol. Im seriously shocked that its not on NBC or CBS, but I guess thats a good thing considering the language and nudity. My only complaint is we gotta wait 9 friggn months for the next season:(
I have to say that I really dig Kayce, played by Luke Grimes. He is so torn between what's right for his wife and son and what he has lived with his whole life. The whole cast is phenomenal but I love watching Luke Grimes play Kayce.

Love Yellowstone and love that John’s (my father’s name) ancestors came from Tennessee to Texas just as I did. My mother, God rest her soul, would say “We are of the soil; because so many of us are planted here.” It’s a true connection that many have with where they came from and where they are today.
Absolutely love this series. So pleased to see that there will be a third season. Going to Dyersville this year to the Field of Dreams site and Montana next year, staying on a bison ranch near Yellowstone national park. Costner inspired double whammy 😁
Best show on TV for sure! I am so glad I listened to my hubby and gave this show a shot. I would have never watched simply because I do not like Western films/shows, but boy is this more than that. I binged the 4 seasons and absolutely fell in love with the cast. Even those I didn’t like off the bat. Taylor Sheridan is brilliant! He made this NYC gal appreciate horses, ranching, cowboys etc. I want to now visit Montana and ride horses as well. Newfound appreciation for that lifestyle. 🤗
I moved to Montana in 2014 in the same area that Yellowstone takes place and been to Livingston for dinner because I lived 30 min from there. When I tell you it’s a beautiful place I can’t tell you enough. Absolutely breathtaking. Unfortunately after 5 months I left and went back east because my relationship didn’t work out. Which was my reason for moving out there. If you get the opportunity to visit out there. Please do!

i agree with you 100%. Kevin has always been my favorite actor of all time. I know the reason is because his movies are so down to earth, just like he is. maybe I said that wrong, but all his movies make sense. I can't stand the way-out movies. They make no sense and I wil not watch them. I will be glad when Kevin makes another movie, but as long as Yellowstone is being filmed, I know he doesn't have the time and I"m sure it to hard learning lines for both. Yellowstone should be an award winning show too.

Thank you for the wonderful interview of a fascinating person in Kevin Costner. He really deserves all the success for having such an intelligent manner and attitude to life. While Yellowstone is in my opinion fair, Kevin’s input and foresight saves the premise and intention. This interview gave me a more positive view of Yellowstone than I had to this point. I’ll look at it in better frame now.

The scene at his grandsons funeral with his daughter in law having a very intimate conversation regarding her child. Got me good. He is definitely made for playing a western character.
