Any links for the black trim used to hide the edges? Is it the J-mold? I searched the company, but there are so many different types of edge trim. Looks like you are using the J mold but I cannot fine one that works with 1 in thick cladding.

PVC will not rot. It will move in response to temperature but not in response to moisture. Also, salty air or salty fog will not corrode it because it is PVC. It is rated for ground contact, which solves all kinds of other problems. One of the sweet details in the trim elements by Tamlyn, which the cladding tucks into, giving room for expansion/contraction.
I've installed Azek decking professionally many times. The material tends to shrink over time in my experience. Off gassing is my guess on why it shrinks.

The metal channels are trims from Tamlyn. They are not cheap, but they look great.
