Most goods you show are much cheaper in Russia than here in the UK. Some of our supermarkets even put security tags on butter and cheese now. Before, only alcohol and expensive meat was tagged. And shoplifting is commonplace with almost more security staff than cashiers. Happy new year to you both!

What a store - bigger than a "Whole Food Market" or Sam's Club Warehouse store in the US - nice variety and quality for sure. I saw there was cream cheese - way back 35 - 40 years ago I met a person from Poland visiting the US, and she never heard of cream cheese. I am stuck on Philadelphia Brand cream cheese in the US - none other seems to taste as good. Good to see and hear from you again, looking forward to your next video.

I'm so proud of you for telling the sales lady that you're filming for your blog and that you are allowed in a public place. It made me laugh when you put a picture of the people who are not pleased. It was so much fun as well as interesting shopping with you! Your supermarket there is really huge; bigger than most of the food markets in Los Angeles (where I live). The products, though, are very similar and reminds me how much alike we all are. A celebration in St. Petersburg looks to be much the same as in Los Angeles. We really all are one world - at least in countries lucky enough to have an abundance of food. St. Petersburg is somewhere I have always wanted to visit and hope to one day manage to do it - when the world returns to its senses. Until then I wish you, your friends and family, along with all of the Russian people, the happiest of new year and looking foward to a time when we can all rest easy in a world that is peaceful and safe for all people. Price comparison videos are popular in Russia.
    I've seen a few before.
Everything in your country is cheaper.
Here in Australia it's very expensive.
Bread costs 9 times as much maybe more.
Your gas, electricity and fuel is much cheaper. Here we pay a fortune for fuel. ⛽️
Which is why food is cheaper maybe.

The girl playing the ukulele at the end looked mighty cold. I hope she got lots of donations from passers-by. The prices in the hypermarket: some prices are very similar to here in Britain, but other prices are a lot higher. However, prices on their own cannot mean anything unless one knows how much the prices reflect people's incomes. I don't think people in Russia earn as much as we do in the West, so a price is only high if you cannot afford it. In Britain now because of very high inflation, a lot of people are going to food banks where they can get basic food for free, because otherwise they or their kids would go hungry. Do you have food banks in Russia? I like the brief snapshots of people as you walk about.

Don't worry, my friend! If you speak another language in Russia, it only means that you are a foreigner or just know it. People of more than 100 nationalities live in St. Petersburg or Moscow, and hundreds of thousands of tourists from all over the world come every year. Tens of thousands of students from different countries study at Russian universities and military academies. For us, the norm is studying with a student from Africa, having lunch at a cafe at the next table with the Chinese, showing the way to the sights to a Dutchman or a Frenchman. Not always understanding each other, but always trying to help.
We don't arrest anyone for walking down the street with an American flag or for speaking English. Believe me, people have checked - even with the Ukrainian flag, you can freely walk through Red Square. If you do not violate the law and public order, you are safe on the streets of our cities.
      Sincerely from Russia!

An entertaining, interesting channel. Suggestion -- when you translate prices, provide more detail. Example -- Trout 9,5S. Is that $9,50 per pound? Per kilo? Ounces? Grams? Is it nine pieces of trout for $5? It wasn't clear to me. Your English is very understandable. Congratulations because it isn't easy to reach your level. One small correction if I may. In English we call a big grocery store a supermarket, not a hypermarket. Hypermarket prices could suggest that prices are very, very high, as in hyper high.🙂

I think it’s very important for people in my country ( USA ) to see everyday life in Russia and meet and make new Russian friends. Putin overreacted with the invasion of the Ukraine, but honestly, my government, at least as far as the information I have access to, which is little, did next to nothing as far as presenting reassurances war wasn’t our primary interest as well. The critical thing now is getting this horrible war stopped and pressuring our governments, as much as possible, to accomplish this. Your channel seems a step in this direction.

You've never seen the United States outside of Middle America, have you? This country is a broken down mess of a place... Graffiti everywhere, hallways that smell like urine and feces, I mean just a real dump. You never feel safe anywhere, all sorts of strange people speaking strange languages you've never even heard of in your life.. but they tell us "diversity is our strength" That's what they keep telling us, and I try to believe... But I'm just not seeing it.. not compared to countries that have only their own people living there. Those are far better countries than "multicultural democracies" of Far West Europe and the US.

Seems to me you still have good prices on most items. Almost everything in my stores have gone up 30% or more. Fresh fruit must be more expensive due to it having to be imported and not grown locally. You would think vegetables and fruit here in the central valley of California would be very cheap because it is all grown within 100 miles or less, but it is still expensive for us. It does not make sense. I like videos like these, Russian life, Russian people. Careful, some shoppers might think you are a western spy, filming what they are buying. : )

What you see, is calm before the storm.
If you are smart, you get out now. Via Vyborg and to the Finnish landborder will probably be easiest way out from Saint Petersburg. As a woman, you may be able to leave without restrictions, but I expect borders to close soon. Shops may be full now, but when wartime economy is imposed in Russia soon, import of foreign goods will come to a halt and the ordinary consumer economy will be cut down to a minimum. I.e. sanctions will come from the Kremlin itself. You are too young to know the Soviet Union, but it will be "fast backwards" to those times. As a young person, you can still start a life in another country. So leave, while you can.

Buy what you need quickly - all will get very expensive very soon. The official statistics are wrong, the real inflation was 25-30% and it will get quickly higher in Russia (see Turkey).
