Great video, Mike. I tell everyone that my Total Gym is a cross between a weight machine and a Pilates machine. It all depends on your household's needs and goals.
This is so great. You took the words out of my mouth when it comes to getting comfortable with kneeling or balancing on TG. using a low incline with resistance bands is perfect. Thanks for this
Thanks Mike for another great way of using the TG, I used this workout today and really enjoyed staying low and getting a great workout done. I added my high step plus 2 risers under the bottom and used 2 resistance bands on the glideboard, worked perfectly!! Keep these workouts coming, really love your channel, and I always mention you in my Instagram posts and give you credit for these ideas and moves 👍💪
I see you're still using your Fat Gripz. I love mine. Aside from using them on my strap handles I have been putting them on the end of my EZ Bar and doing a lot of rows and bicep curls. Feels really good. I've been using them non stop since i bought them! You were right about building up a tolerance after using them for awhile. The exercises are easier now. Also I have noticed more muscle definition happening much faster since using them. I'm really glad i bought a pair!
The only thing I worry about is the weight in the middle in the machine, I'm not sure if it can handle it or if will prematurely cause some wear and tear.
Resistant bands are the only way to go. I had a pilates trainer, one they don't make anymore. Absolutely changed my figure in a great way. I bought a total gym and I am so disappointed with it. I am going to buy one with the resistance bands asap. There is no comparison without resistance bands.
I'm sure a reformer and these are different experience. I obviously don't think everyone will like this machine, but curious what specifically you were disappointed with so maybe I could address it in a future video.
Hi Mike, I'm new here and SO GRATEFUL that I found your channel !! The topics you cover in the videos that I've watched so far are super informative! I have a question though: if you had to decide between the Total gym or a horizontal pilates reformer, which would you choose (If your goal was to increase overall health, muscle strength AND improve cardiovascular fitness)? I get the feeling that any Pilates reformer would not provide the same intensity of cardio workouts nor strengthen the muscles as much as the Total gym, but I wanted to ask your advice in this. Which machine would you recommend? Thank you so much 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you for the kind words. I've got a biased (also I never really messed with pilates reformers), but a sliding bench training in my opinion greatly surpasses the versatility and effectiveness if you're comparing the two for resistance training effectiveness.
If only you had a demonstrator that is a woman and one that is overweight or obese that isn’t ripped & young like yourself. I am also interested in a review of how the over 50 crowd with TKR and balance issues can maximize safety & results on glider equipment. Yes I am brand new to your channel. Thank you for your no bs info.
I can’t speak for the older crowd, but I have knees that dislocate easily bc my bones are wonky lol, but I have used the total gym without issue, I actually first used one of the commercial models at the physical therapist office.
@@fixmysync i appreciate it brother. I’ve said in a few videos that with a TG I like to mix the tempos but generally prefer a faster cadence since the resistance is so light. I find that when I go slow I lose a lot of the tension on a total gym, again because of light weight. Also really depends on the exercise though. But again, really appreciate you watching and the comment.

Thanks Jay. That is a great description. I'd love to do a side by side with an expensive Pilates Reformer.

Thanks David!
wow this is just what i was thinking about lol
Tg needs to put bungee cords like gr8t flex. Thanks for posting the video
That would be great. The bungee tension does feel good.

Great to hear Robert. I still use them pretty much every workout, but I will take them on and off at certain points.
I’m a try raising the front of the machine. Turns it into a flat bench. Power block bench press!!

@@hybridresistance good point
Ankle or foot attachments to mimic the pilates leg exercises. I do hamstring curls with mine at a low incline like that
Excellent tip on hamstrings at that setting!
Great job! That would make a good deload week.
Thank you brother.

Thank you Erica, I will consider your comments. I just need to find a model that fits the bill.

interesting, but I can't see trying this.
The low setting at least with some tension I'd say is worth it. I've been having some fun with some of the exercises.
You talk so fast I didn’t get the name of the machine that adjusts to a flat bench.
My dude, slooooow down! You’ll get a way harder workout
