Leading the parade is one of America's finest guitarists, Warren Haynes. Warren's long career has seen him collaborate with so many top musicians, most recently with his fine band Gov't Mule.
We also catch up with the master Blues guitarist Walter Trout whose inspiring personal story and Blues mastery deserves every guitarist's attention!
Underpinning both of our interviews is the Blues and if that's the style you want to master, make sure you don't miss Michael Casswell's Blues workout in this issue - it's guaranteed inspiration!
All this, plus our usual blend of reviews, columns and this issue's chance to win seven of Seymour Duncan's fantastic FX pedals - one lucky reader is going to have a lot of fun with them this summer!

Great review. Explained the ins and outs in a simple fashion. The reviewer made sense and took time to explain that there is even more to learn about this pedal and its parameters if the user wants to...didn't spend forever just noodling on....
Thank you for this. Very helpful. TC Electronic hasn't done a great job of adequately explaining what this thing does and how their app interacts with it.
Una de las mejores revisiones de pedales que he visto últimamente. Realmente logra el objetivo de mostrar la sofisticada tecnología detrás de este pequeño pedal.
How to lower the high volume boost when it’s on?
Very helpful. Thank you for the details.
Super informative. The best review of this compressor by far.
Great review, Thanks for posting
Very nice demonstration ... Thanks!
Thanks excellent has convinced to buy one!
Great review! I watched a lot of reviews on this pedal, but this one is by far the best. Just ordered this pedal and I am very excited to try it out!
How this pedal in 2023 ?
Is it still the great one ?
best spectracomp review i've seen, thanks !
Not sure why mine seems to work backwards. It just gets louder as I turn it up.
I'm guessing that if i wish to play softer when playing live so that I can control my dynamics when required, I would need a foot activated volume control to lower my volume instead of using the volume controls on my bass or amp. I used the spectracomp a few gigs ago and was told i did not regulate my volume at the required times. I was certain that I was playing lower when required but they are blaming my Spectracomp. I was going through my rig plus front of house and playing a Tony Franklin Fretless on the P bass pups. When I swapped to the bridge pup they did not complain. Other bands have not complained but they are not as caring regarding dynamics. You mentioned that the volume is kept to the same level when playing hard or soft but I feel that I can play soft while using it.
Great little review, just bought this pedal and the video explained everything I needed.
Hey Carl, how is the SpectraComp doing after 5 months of use? Any issues? I'm thinking about buy one in the next month and would like some feedback if you don't mind. Thanks in advance!
Jam S , no issues, still running fine. Takes some getting used to, especially only having the single knob, but if you use the phone app to change the tone print and find two or three tone prints that work for you and store them in the favorites part of the app, then that simplifies things. Overall a solid and effective little compressor, recommended. Have fun!
Oh, and when you change the tone print, make sure you turn the knob all the way off then adjust it back to where you like it, this seems to "reset" it for the new sound setting.
good to know! thanks for the heads up!
Excellent thanks much!
Do you use the parallel setting when you are recording with it?
how did you exactly connect the pedal with the ipad? The Cable from the pedal looks very different to the ipad Cable.
It's probably just a regular black USB cable plugged into a convertor, because apple uses lightning connectors. So he needs to go from regular USB (2.0 type A) to lightning, which is what the adapter is for.
When he said 'under the bonnet', I got confirmation that this is Edd China! Lol
Can I use for guitar as well as bass? Would be nice, I play both in my Sets.
I wanna' know, too.
Of course you can. It's a compressor. It says bass compressor, but covers the complete frequency spectrum...
@@geddeeee 2 years ago, but thx non the less.
What make of bass are you using it sound brilliant
It's a Dingwall bass.
The output level must have been normalized in the edit. Most of the presets just get louder as you turn up the knob.
has puwerr sound on each tone like a fretted bass that you really want to be a fretless. weird.
Bassplayer 1 - "I only play between the 5th and 9th frets"
Bassplayer 2 - "Oh, you must have a Dingwell"
Bassplayer 1 -" Howdja know?" (Look of stupid amazement)
EVERYBODY uses that fucking tone. I Hate that tone!
