- Ducklings crossing the road in the city (Kitchener-Waterloo). So cute! One day I was waiting for the bus at the Kitchener bus terminal. All at sudden, I saw a bunch of ducklings following their mom! They were walking right across the main road towards the water fountain.
I wonder how they reached this busy place when they don't have human crossing guards?
She understands that her ducklings can fall through a hole in the drainage grate and rejects the idea of a swimming lesson.
Awww so cute seeing those little fluff balls struggling to jump onto the curb when there’s a handicap ramp less than 20 feet either direction…mama just wants to toughen them up.
A caring country is not how much g d p they achieved yearly rather is by how much care n love they look after animals n wild life .
She makes having 10 kids look like a walk in the park.
Lol poor girl just wants in that little pond waterfall so bad but has no way in.
Awww, all she wants is to get to the water. 😢 Can we have the city install a ramp for the ducklings to get in, please? 🙏

feel bad for these animals who are probably confused by the crazy human environ; water sounds but inaccessible and most importantly no food or shelter once getting to water. What is mama to do; every step or venture they make uses energy.
I'd say they're probably relatively accustomed to it. Apart from the babies who were just following mom's lead

After gone through several channel I begin to understand how the family get lost in their way back to the pond.
Pageant mama duck have air born navigation skill fly from pond to a tree or nest above ground to hatch her babies. A around a pond with unobstructed path back to the pond. But some tree is isolated from the pond with fenced homes at the water front. Poor mama duct don’t have ground level navigation skill often lost her way back to the pond with babies behind her. To make matter worse we often find mama duck crying for her liters all fallen through a road side drain grill.
Message to all water front home owners. If possible create a “line of sight” passages to the pond for mama duck during breeding seasons.

Did somebody relocate the ducks to their natural habitat? Its too dangerous for them to live in a city full of cars.

@Sum Gumption Still, in nature the death rate of ducklings is pretty high, more than 70% die in the first year.
@Sum Gumption It is true. If more ducklings would survive their first year, the number of ducks would rise up carzy, but it does not. They have so many chicks because most just dont make it, its how nature works.

Mother duck was sadly disappointed.... she couldn't take her chicks for a swimming session.
It's better to be safe than sorry::: that was the idea.
