It doesnt look like a tech worth 1k or 599. They're just one of the first and thats why they could demand a price like that. Give it within 5 years and you'll see these at 200 or even 60 bucks in amazon.
@3:00 "It just looks really appalling!" - okay I think dude mean appealing.
I’m curious how long until the spinning LED’s inside the tube get out of alignment or stop working.
Yeah that is what put me off too.
As well as that I have a Sony MHCV73D Bluetooth speaker that has a lot more features than this does, sounds way better and louder and can even connect it to my TV as a surround sound system.
And its like £600 cheaper than this.
Honestly other than the lyrics displaying on it, which I will admit does look kinda cool, there's just better Bluetooth speakers for so much less money than something like this.
Just going to wait for the tech to get more affordable. Its not worth being an early adaptor for something like this imo.
I think it's beautiful and above all something new in this technological flatness!! Having said that, for those who complain about the price: a JBL boombox 3 costs $500... on "kick" you can get this one for $599, considering the particularity of the product I think it's right on target, and the sound quality seems to be excellent too!!
Would it be impractical to have it on constantly as a timepiece when you’re not using it to play music. Would this wear components out too quickly?
just because the brand calls it "Holographic" doesn't mean it's a "holographic" display (ie. capable of producing a hologram).
How much ?
1000. lol if you back the kickstarter the price is 599
You say this features realtime lyrics, but for the tracks you played with the female vocalist, no lyrics were present? Are the lyrics only available via the app, for certain tracks, determined by the manufacturer? I think it's a given that it's not detecting the vocals from the tracks and displaying them that way, and lyrics via ID3 tags seems unlikely.
Either way, this seems to be an overpriced gimmick with a very limited use case. $600 to buy off the Kickstarter, or $1000 after - with probably no local support to have the unit repaired or serviced, is just a non-starter for most. Especially with the 1920's "holographic" display concept (originally designed by Victor Morris), with rotational blades housing the light emitters to display the image - it's a given that those motors may have a limited lifespan, even if they're MagLev. Not to mention if the unit gets bumped, and somehow ends out of alignment.
i think until a major player like JBL et al takes something like this on, and/or the cost comes down - it's just too expensive a gamble.
