Thoroughly enjoyed this. These are EVERYWHERE at the flea market. They’ve almost overtaken the local markets here. They all sound like various shades of ass.

That coil winding in that piezo tweeter is like the transformer that doubles the power from the amplifier that makes the piezo tweeter louder

I have two USB-powered (direct-power) speakers that are as loud as my JBL flip 2 and clip 3, including louder than my aukey. Run 'em off a power bank? Lasts for hours. xD

Seen one like this, but it went from 200 bucks to 100 bucks, i bought it and i was amazed: Great bass, no distortion, 400W power, well France is good at making great products.

The coil on the tweeter is possibly an inductor that together with the capacitor, form a 2nd order high pass filter. Just using a capacitor on its own is a 1st order filter.

I have that smaller verson and was given to me for Christmas as one of those secret Santa gift. I was expecting a better Speaker but. I wanted to just plug the so called woofer into the wall.

The coil on the piezo tweeter is a kind of coreless transformer which transforms the voltage upwards to drive the piezo. This is also the reason why the capacitor (and the resistor) is connected in series to the piezo. Without a transformer the piezo can be connected directly to the amp (because it's like a plate capacitor). The amp output voltage should not be more than approx. 25Vrms to not distroy the piezo.
But piezo tweeters often sounding not good....

Another thing for those "DJ" sound boxes-you can get toy ones that are better.Headphones--used to use them when I lived in an apartment place.also use them while riding on an airliner or in an airport.Drowns out the noise of both.The set I have is noise canceling.Great for those places.

I have one similar to this only it's stereo and the speakers are stacked. It's called the ART+SOUND party speaker, and they added a FAKE SURROUND to the speaker when the real surround is as bout as thick as a 3.5mm plug for your aux.
Edit: It's about as hollow as the 8 inch Sylvania in the video and I picked it up for $30

Garret the coil on the piezo tweeter is a choke coil for the piezo, if you go to walmart and look in the audio section look for little tweeters that say 500 watts, they are fake ass piezos and they have a coil also

I dont use Headphones very often, because i don't like them. I have a pair of old AKG K240 which do the job with a matching driver device. Except from a shitload of bass, i'd love to hear some voals and treble, which makes Beats by Dre or AirPods not an option.
I bought a small one for $50 and got for free a 2 way car speaker with a crossover and it's sound better than before

I have a RV-DP100 and its still great even after 18 years.
They are pretty nice actually, I have some JVC gigatube whatever here for a video but I've been holding them for a couple years for some reason.. will let them go some day for sure they are getting a lil rough

See if you can get your hands on a Soundcore Rave bluetooth speaker. I'd love to see how much they can take before giving up. I've had one for a while, and from what I've seen and heard, they're pretty tough. Could be a decent challenge for you to blow it out.

if as he said it uses the same type cabinet as other DJ/PA speakers then the cabinet itself is likely worth the $10 someone had commented it cost below. put a cheap 15in sub in it with a cheap 2.1 board and replace the tweeter and it could be a good base for a cheap DIY bedroom DJ build. say 50 for a 2.1 amp board and same for replacement speakers you could have a nice set up without the hassle of constructing a cabinet.
uh, 100 bucks... and the cab was the worst part, plastic so brittle it would never last in use but as I said in the video I will be stealing the amp parts to make something else, I do love making funny boomboxes :D

24:50 is why I fitted piezo tweeters to the PA speakers that my school have when they blew the original compression drivers by clipping the hell out of the amps, no way are the replacements gonna blow, the amps in them can only provide 150w! Also, I reckon if you fitted a proper 15" driver in that enclosure and ran it at a decent amount of power, the SPL would probably blow this cabinet apart.

They were famous for good and well built Radios, HiFi Shacks, HiEnd home audio and decent CRT-TVs. Now both of them are ruined and the Chinese have bought their Corp-Names to flood our market with kitchen applies, low price TVs and f*shit like that karaoke speaker. Shame

If you look closely, the Kenwood kitchen appliances have a slightly different logo and have nothing to do with Kenwood Audio. ;)
As for Grundig, Telefunken and Blaupunkt, yeah, it's a shame how the Chinese/Turks have sullied the names with mediocre products. Grundig at least tried to stay relevant by making somewhat decent stuff and staying in touch/making service contracts with traditional high-end AV retailers for a while, but even that has completely gone to shit now, sad.
Have you heard of Braun returning to the CE industry though? I've always loved their Atelier stuff from the 80's, seeing them coming back to audio with actually well made products is refreshing :D
@@TamerlanRespawn Yup, it is just a shame. These companies were always for fucking solid products in their midrange. You paid a bit more, but got a tv in the 90's and that thing was trashed, because otherwise you would still have that today. I also heard from braun, but i think i've actually never seen any newer product from their HiFi range and i hope this will not be as an embarassment like DUAL or Lenco did it. Their stuff was pretty high end some decades ago. Same goes for Tannoy, if you can remember 'em. They have been resurrected with some good stuff. Stuff that Teufel, Cerwin Wega and Bose can fuck off against it, but this is still nothing compared to their glorious Westminster, Super Red Monitor, Cheviot, Mercury and so on. You just don't get that what you got like 30 years ago.
