- I hope you all enjoy my new song “Yui”. This song talks about a moment in life where you feel like nothing matters and that your existence is basically meaningless. I feel like everyone at some point gets caught up in depression one way or the other. I struggle with a lot of these thoughts, feeling like I’m unloveable and not worthy of affection ect. This is beautiful. I hear it daily on Sirius Satellite Radio, chill 53. You made it big, this is so deep. I feel a lot of messages and situations in this. Emotions, relations and life as a whole.

This reminds me of my girlfriend who recently died from an epileptic seizure. We spent many nights in my truck, and we sat there side by side, the two of us, and didn't speak. Now I regret not telling her how much I loved her, and how much she meant to me. I'd give anything to hold her in my arms again.

Thank you to Ampyx and SiriusXM Chill for delivering this hauntingly beautiful and emotional gut punch of a track. (Side by Side repeats in my mind every day). I think this song is about life and death.
My interpretation of this song is quite sad; I think it is a man reflecting on his life and the loss of their child. The viola/violin sounds of sorrow, the couple standing next to each other - not speaking (standing over the grave site)...I feel he is there reflecting upon the doctor saying 'if something should happen' upon a diagnosis or life event...and the child laughter...man that gets to me. He is remembering the happiness of the child's life with them and how it made him feel. There in their incredible sadness and reflection the wife give her reassurance, 'I love you'.
I know everyone will have their own thoughts. This song is truly beautiful and evocative.
I absolutely love this piece so much! I hear it all the time on Chill 53 and when I'm driving in my car, it just makes me feel so down to earth and reminds me of the past in a way that's both painful, yet reassuring. I love it.
Every time I hear this I think of the love I lost. It bring tears to my eyes and warms my heart.

Ampyx, I don't feel meaninglessness from this song, in fact just the opposite. It brings back the very poignant, bittersweet, moving feelings of love and loss in my life, and anyone that can write a song that does that is full of meaning and their existence matters. I can't listen to this song without crying so know that you have touched me at my deepest level. And no one that gives that to so many people could possibly be unworthy or unlovable. I've been depressed before so I know where you're coming from. Just know that there are others out there that appreciate you and hopefully it will help you to appreciate yourself the way they do. Just read the description in how you feel about your song Amphyx. I interpreted it as two individuals taking a moment in time to find comfort in each other despite whatever tragedies are happening around them. The lyrics "and we stood there......side by side....and didn't speak" are so powerful to me. The mood is serene, powerful, empathetic, and yet still tense. I love this song so much. This song alone makes me glad I have Sirius XM and came across it.

I've been battling depression for the better part of 2 years now. I first heard this on XM 53 (favorite channel) and I got chills and I literally felt like "this is what is going on in my head". Picturing myself looking out into the horizon of my life, and thinking, all I can do is stand here, and not say or do anything, and accept that this is life, meaning or no meaning. This song jumped up into my top 10 favorites of all time after reading your description of it. Thank you. You and your music is incredible.

At risk of being really vulnerable this song really hit me. Hard. I lost my best friend when we were 16 in 2001. I gave his eulogy. Something about this song, the melody lines, the spoken word, the beat; it just evoked a ton of memories I’d put into the back of my mind even though I think about him everyday. The song for me was like it was transporting me and him high above the earth at sunset and we were just watching our best times go by before our eyes; playing guitar, riding dirt bikes and hanging out with all of our friends. We stood there, side by side and didn’t speak.

I've been dealing with some depressing thoughts lately and through these past months a lot. And I have to say this song definitely feels like the perfect song to listen to when you feel these things. It's a very calming song, which helps you think straight when going through thoughts like that. This songs sounds amazing and it's really cool and good to see someone making their music cherish someone's day. This song describes how I feel sometimes, the in between of depressed and happy, and it makes me feel good. Thank you for your amazing music Ampyx. You will always be my favorite EDM/Chillstep artist.

Beautiful song. I heard it for the first time on Sirius Satellite Radio yesterday on the Chill channel.
I realise it doesn't fit the emotions that went into the song, but I get a sense of contentment from this. It's the experience of knowing someone so comfortably that you can be perfectly content with just their presence, that not a single word needs to be spoken.

I just heard this song on Pandora and its my new favorite. Then I read the meaning of the song and now I know why it resonates me with so freaking much! You're amazing. I know it's hard to hear that if you suffer with those kinds of feelings. It's hard for me too. You're not alone.
I was listening to a chillstep playlist and heard this song when I got the news of my grandmother passing. It was eerie in a way. I also had a friend pass away months previous. Now everytime I hear this it almost has a feel of memories being replayed in your mind. Or at least that's my interpretation. Its hauntingly beautiful.

To me it feels like the happier parts of the song are what it feels like when you're around other people, but you have your mask on and are just trying to hide your true emotions, not only from your friends but from yourself, too. You just want to pretend for a moment that everything's fine.
The sadder parts are when you're alone, the mask comes off, and you can be real with yourself. That's when all the emotions you've been trying to hold back all day come crashing down on you. At that point, you deal with them however you can. You cry, you write, you draw, or you just quietly sit and think. Anything to make those feelings go away or to distract yourself from them for just a little longer.
The laughter right after halfway through the song are the echos of happier memories, when times were better and you didn't have to pretend. When you didn't feel alone or forgotten or like you don't matter. It's a sad, oppressive longing, but somewhere deep inside there's a glimmer of hope. A faint spark that maybe, just maybe, things will get better. Who knows when, and who knows how, but it will. You may never see this, Ampyx, but I just want to say that this is I can feel the love you put into this song, and it really touches me. It touched me when I found this a year ago, and it still does today.
As for my interpretation of the track, I love all the little details in it, intentional or not. For me, "Yui" is just another way to say "You", but the simple switch of letters lets "u" know that you're not alone, that it's "u" & "i", in this together.
Throughout the song, I get a sense of nostalgia, reminding me of the better times before. I love all the little instruments you put in there, and the vocal sample is really meaningful. I can for sure call this one of my favorite songs ever.

Why "Yui" as the title? Sounds Japanese but when I look for translations it seems to mean "beautiful clothing"?
Also, this song is very touching. Not sure if it gets at the struggle of feeling lonely, but it does feel like it is in between sadness and the relief of reaching happiness again.

I am very curious to find out where the sampled lyrics come from, I've heard the "and we stood there" part in several songs and it bugs me that I just can't find the source, which I'm guessing is going to be some old, forgotten movie from 50's.

So good, man. I really get a sense of standing on the edge of a cliff looking over a horizon of my life, unwilling and seemingly unable to change what I see. It's a moment in time where, as you say, nothing seems to matter. Is this all there is? Is there even a light at the end of this tunnel? Should I continue to press on when I don't know if it will indeed get better?
I think at the end of it all, things will get better. It's faint, but I still believe, and hope for a brighter future. God bless you brother.
