I made my own altar without even knowing that it was actually a thing. Really freaked me out when I found out. Ha! . However it’s an affirmation of what I really am.
I did so as well when I was probably 11 or 12. I found incense at the flea market and a little budda holder for it. When I got home I laid out a pretty scarf over my dresser and placed the incense and a few meaningful items on there. Freaked my religious grandmother right out LOL.

Altars are meant to be a practical space that you use, not just for decoration! When building an altar make sure to have fun with it, whatever brings you joy, place it there, don't confine yourself because of what you see other people doing! thanks so much for watching. :)
@@Ethony My altar doesn’t look so different than the altars of my Catholic family members, and there is reason for that. I do try to bring in more joy, though.
