I have 2 rotor R2's , my black one came out of the package flawlessly. I bought a carbon fire on sale and it kept jamming just like yours is so I got ahold of Dye and I was told directly from Dye to loosen the tension screw until it was flush with the body and then 1/4 turn in. Once I did that it runs without issue running all grades of paint. Even rolled my ankle 2 weeks ago and landed on top of it (I'm 6'3 275lbs) and it exploded, got fixed up threw it back together and it worked fine the rest of the day. If you continue having issues call Dye and they will have a tech call you and actively troubleshoot with you.
I borrowed one recently, I wasn’t impressed. The funnel slows the R2 down, there’s a bit more popcorning as it empties but worst of all in the 5 drop tests I did it jammed twice. Both jams were mid feed not due to overloading, they were also hard jams and wouldn’t release with the fin. I won’t be replacing my Spire.
I have tested the funnel in my R2 and LRT and both jam at the ramp and I have to dump the hopper to clear it. Its a different jam than the stock setup but no better that I can tell. And this was with GI 4 star paint. Looks like my rotors will go back on my shelf.
Honestly, my R1 and R2 have been with me for more than 8 years, they have jammed no more than 3 times in all that time, I really don´t see the big issue, just adjust the tension screw and don´t over fill the rotor. cheers
Seems to be the case. Some work great without issues, the rest are inconsistent. I have played around with the tension screw and experience the issue at all different settings
If you play at outlaw that could be why. We usually play in the DFW area but played there a few times in August and all my loader was doing was jamming with their paint. I changed batteries and even markers but still had issues. Switched to another fields paint I had in my bag and had no issues 🤷♂️! They might have a paint storage issue or just got a bad few batches!
This rotor has jammed over the years with several different kinds of paint. Jammed at WC, jammed at USXBL shooting GI 5*, jammed with Evil. Not defending Outlaw's paint is hit or miss, lately it has been pretty good.
If you're having jamming issues, it's your paint. For $40, this thing is not worth it. I've had several dye loaders and never have any issues. Don't buy garbage paint.
@@theoriginaldashriprock it’s jammed with GI 5 star, Evil, HK’s highest grade, and Valken tournament paint. Your statement isn’t fair and at least my specific rotor has been consistently a problem since I got it in 2022.
@@joeenzo1028 been having the same problems up in Canada gi 4 star is tournament paint. 4 guys our team switched this year to spire this season. Did this fix any issues ?

i will never understand the rotor, it constantly has issues, spire or crtl just works all the time no questions asked, why does anyone want to use a rotor???
I play mostly mech tournaments and the Spire just doesn't force paint in fast enough with the inconsistent fire rates. I always break a ton more paint trying to use my Spire 5 instead of my R2. I'm really hoping once the Triad gets all the bugs completely worked out it'll be a good reliable middle ground between the two.
I feel like my ltr is faster than my r2. I'm sure they're the same mechanism but I feel like the batteries are trying to power a few other features so it slows it down just a little.. personal observation

All stock Dye internals as well, I saw this funnel on reddit and was like "Y tho"
I can count on one hand the amount of jams Ive had since the original rotor was released. One thing I do is adjust the spring to the lowest tension.
Filled my r2 up shot five balls and jam on the first run. Had more jams with the freeflow in one day then ive had with stock r2 in a few years
I ran one yesterday. got 2 jams in less tham a case. This is more than I ever had on stock internals.
Interesting to see that the biggest issue seems to be over filling the loader.
Both sets of internals jammed with the load packed and with some room in it. Seems like it's more of a loader issue than a capacity issue

I'm taking mine out to field test it this weekend. I'm betting I will have a similar experience

What is popcorning?
Have you tried playing with a tensioner? See if you turn in more if its better?

@@joeenzo1028 You are right, is all about the screw, I ruined one rotor by overturning that screw, it never worked properly again

When dye release the rotor back in 2009 it was horrible there's so many better loaders out on the market

Why would anyone want to use this when you can just use a spire and not have to worry about this crap EVER

So an already over priced loader needs an additional piece that’s sold separately for it to function properly. Just get a spire
