I have a question... It might dwelve into script and such...
The thing is I swapped to Helrika to have more options when playing with ppl who installed the vocalizer in their server,
And H's version did not have Francis's humming in Elevator...
I tried looking in VPK editor to see if I can manage to hook that audio for "Conversation" button of "Biker", but I just don't know how to do it ._.
oh, well i'm not pretty sure about those scripts, but there's an alternative way you can say that line with Helrika's - also way easier than add the line yourself
just select Louis (while playing as Francis of course) on Character selection menu to get his character lines, once there look on his Character-specific 5 menu -> (Next menu) -> Humming(L) , this one, despite is in Louis' menu, can trigger that same response line on Francis, only downside is that it's a limited use line
@@NATT214 Yeah, I saw that and Louis's whistle too...
But what doesn't make sense between the two mods was Ion's Francis Humming wasn't limited, while Helrika's is...
Someone also made a guide to create vocalizer from scratch... I guess I'll look into it to see if I can hook my favourite dialogs into the script...

@@unxylene i don't recall theres a way to make Nick say that line by himself (not in Helrika's vocalizer at least), however you can still trigger that whole conversation if you play as Ellis and select the line ''Bird (L) (limited use) '' on his Character-specific 5 menu - in ''Next Menu''
@@NATT214 ive seen this one guy do it on versus official server. i asked him how to do it. but he was just being a gatekeeper
@@unxylene well, it might have been a vocalizer he made from scratch and added that line, all i know is that it's not possible for Helrika's to say that one line alone as Nick without triggering it some other way
so my guess is, he might be usin' a different vocalizer

miscellaneous 5 (the one with the screams) doesnt wanna work on online campaign while the others work well, fix ?

isnt working for me and ive made sure every stpe was followed does having a subscription to the vocalizer affect this?

alright well, if you tried everything and it's not working, you think you can explain to me the exact process you did from your side to install the vocalizer please? any details will be usefull to figure out what's wrong (mods you got that could be conflicting, keybinds, server you playing in...etc)

this is literally my only problem, I have tried every vocalizer I’ve removed all of them then added one at a time and installed them manually this part is literally the thing I’m struggling with I have watched multiple YT Videos and for the life of me I CAN NOT get these keys in my edit buttons to show up etc
Everytime I install and equip one of the vocals I head to the edit buttons to see if it’s there and it literally does NOT work for any of them I have used 1 at a time I downloaded through Workshop and manually and they just do not show up or work at all and I am honestly at a loss I’m beyond frustrated with this shit so....
Can you by any chance help me and tell me why none of the vocals show up in the edit buttons? And how I can fix this?

I’ve been trying for days now to get it to work and it’s just 1 failure after another and all the Videos I’ve watched make it look so easy just Sub and download head to edit buttons voila there the extra keys but when I do it it never shows or pops up 🙄

hmmm i see, i'm sorry to hear you've been through all of that trouble
well to me it kinda sounds like your game is not even loading the mod at all (that if it doesn't even appear in your mod list) , i would suggest to, instead of going through options, could bind the menu to a key through console
yet again, if the problem itself is that the mod is just not getting registered in your game for some reason might not do much... by any chance do you have other mods besides the vocalizers? weird shit can happen when you got some - not enabled but installed ( like talker mods or an addont that has a talker folfer(some custom campaigns/mutations have these))
i'm actually not so great with technicall stuff such as files and stuff, i gathered all the info. for this guide from both mod's Steam forums and from my own experience using the vocalizer, but i found these comments on Ion's forums, they might help -
''Game folder and configuration file (config.cfg) which is located in \left4dead2\cfg have to be writable. Otherwise, game can't save your settings and keybindins, and you won't be able to use the vocalizer menus.''
''Try typing "host_writeconfig" in console. You should get this response if config file is writable:
Host_WriteConfiguration: Wrote cfg/config.cfg'
and make sure to verify the game's files on Steam'
(some user with this problem replied):
''Ok I finally fixed it by moving the game to desktop instead of moving to a folder within the desktop.''

i hope this can be abit of help, still have the feelin' it could be something on your own pc files that could be messing with the vocalizers addons, but that's just my best guess
how do you say a survivor's name without using the "order" -> "look" and looking at the character to say their name. where is the menu dedicated to saying characters names so you dont have to look at them
you can't call survivor's names in the vocalizer other than that while looking at them unfortunately, however there are certain character lines that can start a sentence with other survivor's name, so that could be the only alternative, if you dont want the rest of the audio to play you can interrupt it by selecting another line right after they say their name
Why can't I use the character specific lines in a server with me and my friends?
Did you check 1:00 ?
1:10 The character specific menu does not show up for me at all.
if doesn't show up you might have mods that affect keybinds and due to that these menus are not showing, if they still don't show up try to bind that menu with console
Please add all the possible friendly fire directed as specific characters and teamkilling like
Coach line: "ellis ill take that gun away from ya"
Or when coach witnesses ellis killing teammate: "boy do you have any sense left in that head"
That would be a dream of mine if you could add all the friendly fire quotes cause they are the most funny and reasonable to play them and some can be applied to other things besides friendly fire.
I want a radial menu also that lets you scream teammates names without having to "Look" at them
Btw can you make friendly fire voicelines NOT random please?

sorry, as far as i know you can't chose an specific line out of friendly fire lines with the vocalizer, those will always be randomized
however there's an alternative way you could still do that (if you are willing to do that manually), instead of a vocalizer you could get ''project_smok'' (an improved version of an admin system) since it's got a feature that allows you to bind a single voice line to a key - you could find the commands for friendly fire lines you want and assing 'em so you can repeat them as many times as youd like - do keep in mind , however, that being an admind system you MUST be playing in local/single player/best dedicated server(with that mod installed in it) and be playing as the host so you can use these commands

@@NATT214 so wait if i bind the voice lines with project smok in my host local session, can the binded voicelines still work if i join other peoples LOCAL sessions therefore me not being host will it still work?
@@makavelithadon1224 not if whoever else hosting that session does not have project smok as well, for, that command is triggered thanks to that mod

i think you can, yes, but that would mean for you to add them manually - like via creating your down vocalizer from scratch, however tha'd take a whole lot more of work
tho if you mean by project smok yes absolutely you can, you just need to find the name of that command and bind it with it

What if mine works in single player but not online? I know u said because other players dont have it but i was in a lobbu hearing it without having it too. Any advice?
not entierly sure if i understood but, the vocalizer can't fully work on OFFICIAL Valve servers (online), as it's explain in 1:38 (only the lines marked with (L) are limited used which will not work on those servers - singleplayer, and local servers are an exception)
even if y o u are the host of the game and have the vocalizer installed, it won't properly work on an official server, unfortunatelly
(there's also the chance that if you heard someone else using voice lines in a server and you do not have the vocalizer yourself, they might have it, as all players can still hear the lines regardless of owning the mod or not, could also just be using the default radial menus which only have basic orders to use)

Im confused about having to install a past version of Ions vocalizer before tls update why is that the case? (No I haven't installed it yet im thinking about it but im curious on why you have to install a older version of Ions vocalizer?)
you don't h a v e to install that old version, i believe it was made to work for personal dedicated servers as a pluging, i'm not sure what exactly the changes are compared to the lastest (whoever might want the way it was before the update)
however if you just want to use the vocalizer like most players, the average way, you just need to subscribe to it on the Workshop or download the Gamemaps version, that's it

for some reason in helrika's vocalizer i cant use miscellaneous 1,2,3,5 and 7, yes i tried puttin the commands in 2:15 but doesn't work

@@TailsMooni see, if it's just those binds in particular you could have a conflicting mod with the vocalizer (might be a mod that chances keybinds as well), i'd recommend check that out in your addon list plus cheking out the possible reasons listed in 2:48
Worst case scenario, i'd recommend you to manually download the vocalizer from Gamemaps, that one usually works the best

ohh that must be the reasons why some of the lines(ion vocal) wont work, i'm a rochelle player btw, so i love spamming random lines. I hv an issue something like this happening rn when she cant say some lines. what addons do you think may conflict with this addon? Is it the skin addons or the hd addons? or maybe something else?
Well, unfortunately the main reason why some lines can't play (specially inside the saferoom) it's due to the TLS update, which limits not only the spam of those lines but also just, use them at all. If you can, i would recommend play on a best dedicated server or even local, that works for me
If you suspect the reason could be an addon you got, however, it's mostly due to talkers mods (those directly add/remove/affect voice lines), would advice to check that and verify Steam files, other than that, it would be odd if a re-skin caused any conflict. Even custom campaigns are a more common problem for the vocalizer. I hope this can be of help
Worst case scenario would also recommend to try Helrika's vocalizer and see how that turns out
@@NATT214 yeah man, I just realized it only works on online. :/ not in single player anymore, at least that's what I think. I guess we hv to wait, maybe the problems will be fixed. Shit valve really kills me. About Helrika vocal, yeah it has the same issue as Ion's
@@bonapetitpv i see... it's been a long while since i ever tried single player, didn't know it got nerfed there aswell, makes no sense to me but it is a shame. Perhaps solo local would work best for you, still, hope you can find other way to make it work

And does character, or weapon skins fiddle with this mod?
mostly other vocalizers and/or talker script mods, those are the ones that directly conflict
and about character and weapon addons, those are fine since they do not change or affect the voice lines, however do keep in mind that usually reskins for survivors, weapons and special infected are the ones that causes the most issues when hosting a game in local/dedicated servers
so if your game keeps crashing it's mostly due to those mods and not the vocalizer

how do i go to local and best dedicated servers
well, people usually don't host it on local, so best chance for that to happen would be you hosting it yourself
and for decicated servers you can find Steam servers on main menu
Which keys are better in terms of funny moments and important?
Well, there's no really specific lines that work for every situation besides the swears i suppose, is more about using a line that works for the context of that joke - put it that way any line can be potentially funny if you use it in the right timing
If you ask for "important" ones i'm gonna guess you mean lines that can actually be more useful, in that case id say the very basic menus the game already got by default since they contain basic orders/comands that works for almost any moment, plus the extra menu in the vocalizer that also have lines like warnings, for hordes or special infected

•Playing on an Official Valve server (TLS update limits spawming some lines, specially inside the safehouse)
•you could have a talker mod that is conflicting with those lines
•some custom campaigns/mutation modes screw up the vocalizer
•since those are limited lines (L), they can't work on other than singleplayer, local, and best dedicated servers that have the vocalizer as a plugin

If you are askin' to get this mod for the first game, you can, but just like it's shown in this video you'll have to download and install it manually into the game files from GameMaps (since theres no workshop) - here's the link to GameMaps www.gamemaps.com/details/17219
Now, if you're asking to get the L4D1 survivors lines in Left 4 Dead 2 - after you select your character in Character Selection menu like i previously explained in the video, for Helrika's vocalizer you'll also need to select either if you are playing with L4D1 or L4D2 survivors in orther to get their lines (explained on 1:21)
After trying to use the character select menu it doesn’t work at all

So theres goimg to be next menu in same press of a button similar to vox vocalizer?
Because thst surely made it easier to play voice lines in comparison of having too many keys for each voice menu.
i mean both Ion's and Helrika's got far more voice lines than Vox do, if getting to know that many amount of menus by memory is too overwhelming then i just recommend to stick with Vox, Helrika's with the Next menus basically add even more radial menus in a way that you don't have to bind those to mroe keys but instead re-use assigmened keys that you already got binded

I was talking about the fact that vox has "Next option" so it saves ya space on the keyboard
@@makavelithadon1224 ah, didn't knew about that one, i first tried Vox when i found out about vocalizers and it helped me get used to 'em, but that was long ago and since then i haven't returned to it - i wasn't aware they added this feature

If you mean Steam deck or just another controller im not sure you can, for you must bind these menus to a key
There might be a way to config it maybe, i haven't heard of it myself but you can still ask to the vocalizer authors in the Steam Workshops of their mods

In Helrika's vocalizer Nick got a whole swear menu (on ''Character-Specific 5'' menu above (Next Menu)), you can spawn "son of a bitch" and also that single line but it will still play by chance
Still a more effective option than deafult swear menu wheel
