  • Hey guys well it's been a while, but I've been rather busy!
    Multiple shoots and jobs as well as some big life changes have mixed up the schedule somewhat, but a few weeks ago I was back on RSPB Havergate with my beloved Hares for some more wildlife photography with the Z9 and 600mm f4 Z TC!
    Oh and yes I know I say I "don't have the 300mm 2.8" but thats just for this trip, that lens isn't going anywhere! ;)
    I had a great time being back on the Island, conditions were certainly mixed over my week, but I did manage to get out and film a couple of videos for you guys, getting up close with the Hares!
    I hope you enjoy!
    Having been using the 600mm f4 Z TC day in and day out over the last few months I have been very impressed. The performance is stunning, with incredible sharpness and excellent AF when paired with my Z9. The weight makes it rather flexible for use on a tripod or just handheld and slowly I'm getting used to that extra reach! Something thats certainly handy for some intimate portraits. It's awesome...You know you want one ;) tidd.ly/3BJRVIl
    As always guys if you have any questions please drop them down in the comments and if you are not already please think about subscribing for future videos, It really helps get the channel out there!
    Huge thanks as always to the RSPB for the incredible opportunity to keep working over on Havergate, I'm hugely grateful to be given what is a truly unique opportunity to stay on this Island paradise for wildlife! If you are not a member its certainly worth joining, so many fabulous location and work down to help support nature in the UK and around the world! www.rspb.org.uk

      The 300mm 2.8 VR II is still my favourite lens, for hares yes you have to spend a lot of time and work if with good field craft to get close but when you do, the 300mm 2.8 certainly makes the most of it!

    • @TomMasonPhoto
      @TomMasonPhoto  Год назад

      Nearly all the shots are from the same day, bar a the into ones, the thing is I was getting used to shooting the Z9 10 bit N log, so have been exposing a little differently and still think I need to perfect the grading hence why some of it seems a little bright!

    Awesome Video like always... Just love the pictures, and the video as well... Thank you very much for sharing your experience...
    Also I have a question... What have you put on your lens??? The black color is too good... Have been a portrait photographer for around 19 years now... Starting wildlife... Have the 400 f4.5... Probably going for the 600 f4 next... I have seen wildlife photographers cover their lenses... Why is it??? (Might be a stupid question for a seasoned person like yourself :D)

    • @TomMasonPhoto
      @TomMasonPhoto  Год назад +1

      It's a lenscoat! the are made in the US and are neoprene (like mini wetsuits) for your lens to keep them safe and protected from bumps and scrapes!

    “You know you want one!”…Tom, who is going to spend £15,499 on a 600 mm lens!? I could afford it, but I’m not going to spend that much money on the lens. I’m not a professional wildlife photographer nor are any of your viewers

    • @TomMasonPhoto
      @TomMasonPhoto  6 месяцев назад

      I know most people aren’t going to spend £15,500 a lens… but you know you want one! It’s an epic bit of glass and I’m truly fortunate to have on to use every day as a pro. But for many of course the 600mm FL (now having dropped in price hugely) is a far better option! As you can have that, a Z9 and a trip of a lifetime for the same price! I was kinda joking but don’t worry I’ll do many more affordable videos in 2024!
