It’s weird how back in the day (70’s) all my teenage guy friends could go under the hood and change/replace parts of the car and now it seems like the dealers make it almost impossible to DIY. At least we still can change our own air cabin filter…for now!
Why would you want to put the new filter in the same way that the old one was in? What if the old one was put in wrong? Well, since your filter is positioned horizontally, all horizontally mounted cabin air filters with the blower motor mounted below the filter will have downward air flow. That's why dirt collects on top of the old filter because the unfiltered air is coming into the topside and then going through the filter and into the blower.
Hiya and thanks for your questions and comment. I put the new filter in the same because the old one was put in by KIA. Just following old advice my Dad used to say when he made me put all the screws to things in order on a strip of painters tape…put it back the way you found it! 😉
Thank you, I will try to put the filter in this weekend. I will come back on to let you know how it goes. 😅
Absolutely...holding breath
Dealers LOVE replacing these things, because it is just that easy. And FYI, most vehicles have the cabin air filter behind the glove box.
That's funny ours is in front of the glove box. 🤔

Hide and seek so they have to do it for you. 😂
