I thought that I was in great shape, but collapsed going up to the tea house (didn't know that you needed water). Just as everything was turning white, I saw an old man with his granddaughter coming "down" from the tea house. My last thought, "I can't believe it! I'm passing out and this old guy is carrying a kid on his shoulders!"
Alberta is destroying the nature with fossil fuels .. Canada climate changes is cause by Alberta with a speed twice as fast as USA. More than 100 wildfires in May 2023 and out of control. Polluted rivers and lakes by oil industry. British Colombia is the same with high crimes and homeless.
I am fortunate enough to have been to all the places you showed in this video. I also agree with everything you said about all of them it is just amazing up there!!!
Great video. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to going back for the 14th trip!!! Never get enough of this incredible place. Your videos of Jasper NP and Yoho NP are also great.
I saw that after we got back from our trip! We’re so bummed we didn’t do devils thumb. Although the wintery conditions were already getting a little intense. Next trip we’re doing it!
Great content, thank you for sharing! I also recommend Plain of Six Glaciers, bonus you can pair it with Big Beehive as a reverse route for the ultimate day hike!
Just returned from BC. & AB. Your videos are amazing and even in early April the mountains are awesome. Walked on Lake Louis, Moraine Lake rd closed, 15ft snow around Icefield Pkway center but the roads are excellent. Use Sulphur Mtn lift after 5pm for sunset dinner, phantastic panorama and very nice ambiance. Budget friendly tip: HI hostels Banff & Jasper, Pangeo in Whistler, all very different, all very good.
To me, Lake O'Hara is the best place in that area. I did not get a bus ticket for this past August. So I got to Lake O'Hara parking lot at 5 am. to make the 7 mile hike just to Lake O'Hara.
current parking lot at lake louise is 22/whole day. Moraine lake nomlonger accessible to pvt cars, u will have to take the shuttle from lake louise village. if u want to see it at sunrise , be prepped to pay pvt transpo somewhere between 70's->100's.
Switzerland is more impressive and well develop for tourists with all types of transportation .... safer than Alberta , the Texas of Canada with guns, highest crime rates cities , wild fires and fossil fuels destroying the planet,
Love from Ontario, Canada! Thank you for putting together a short and to the point informative video. Great photography, narration, and of course destinations! My family will be here in 2023 after the 6 years old gets a bit more disciplined LOL!
Hey, amazing video, just wanted to say this came up on my feed in perfect timing. Heading out to Banff next week for 3 nights and you gave me some great advice on places to hike, thank you and keep up the great work on your videos. Much love!!
How many days do you recommend for this itinerary if we are not doing the long trek hikes? After watching your video I'm already planning to visit this summer. Thank you!
awesome video. I'm headed there first week of October.. When walking and taking video, did you use a GoPro, or your actual camera? I can't wait to get there and shoot some of these stunning views and take some time lapses also.
As a landscape photographer, this is a wonderful vlog! Great shots with concise info for hiking. As a resident of Washington state, Banff is on our list for visiting in 2023. Spring or Fall better for viewing/photography? Love it. New subscriber.
I am also a landscape photographer and would suggest Fall for photography as Larches turn yellow and make this incredible place even more spectacular. Several lakes will still be frozen in Spring and many hikes are closed due to snow. Lake Louise did not thaw out till first week in June this year. Hope this helps.
I'm not sure about Washington though I've been there in the mountains. BUT...having been on many hiking adventures which includes the U.S. I finally discovered that the Canadian Rockies are the only ones that have like this beautiful turquoise color. Some look more Emerald BUT stunning!!!!!!! I learned it's due to a particular mineral. I learned the name but can't remember it. BUT...not until Lake Louise and Moraine Lake, Yoho & the drive to Jasper do you see it. Montana's glacier park may have some too?!?!
Lake Louise the place/turn off is where these hikes are and BOTH Lake Louise and Moraine Lake. AND if stay at Lake Louise somewhere, you're also 3 km away from the Icefields Parkway highway to Jasper & are equally close to Yoho.
Thank you for the video and it does gives me a whole lot of an ideas of where to visit in my upcoming trip to Banff this coming October. Keep up the good works dude...
Kevin, I immediately subscribed. awesome info we're going! Only 15 hours from us! If you're reading this- an awesome fall colors road is from Keene New Hampshire to Grafton Vermont. I used to live up there. THANKS again!
Excellent Video, Amazing Views, and Amazing Photography Kevin. I Have Never Seen Alpine Trees Turn Gold In Color. What Time Of The Year Was It When You Visited Baniff and The Other Locations?
We visited (this time) on the second half of September and first half of October. We were naive to the fact that Banff even got fall foliage but wow was it special. Thanks as always Doug
And here I’m thinking Canada’s fall colours are well known around the world because… maple leaves? Ring any bells? 😂 The fall colours are more beautiful in Ontario. The Rockies’ majestic mountains are unbeatable though. Thanks for sharing!
The Canadian Rockies are among the last of the regions in the USA and Canada that I need to get to. Granted, I need to spend lifetimes more time in places I've "seen", but this is high up on my list...

Great Video Kevin. Going around there this Mid September with the wife. What were you using for your time lapses mate? Regards from Phil in Sydney Australia 😎
Kind of an oddly specific question but I'm planning my first trip to Banff (your videos are awesome and so helpful!) And I have to ask, where did you take the photo a 0:36? It's a beautiful one!
12:00 update for Moraine Lake. The lake is only accessible by bus and biking starting on June 1st. I’m going through in the third week of May so bit bummed out social media caused all these restrictions. Also, stop putting up hammocks on the trails.
Love your videos. Hoping to visit Banff later this year in a van. Do you have suggestions for dispersed camping/boondocking in the area? I don’t know if Canada has an equivalent to BLM land. Any resources would be great!
You have nailed all the spots where the locals refuse to go.. haha. They are all great spots but highly touristy and some of the places are impossible to visit due to lack of parking & huge crowds.
What are your preferred hikes? Normally I backpack to get away from the crowds, but I’ll be visiting with a friend next month who just wants to day hike.
@@kclo To get away from the crowds basically do any hikes that are longer and more difficult. The more difficult the hike the less people will be on the trails.
Did you guys see any bears on any of your hikes in Banff? They are out in droves in the late fall getting ready for hibernation! Great video and really well done, love Banff.
So we have seen bears in Banff and the ice fields parkway but on our most recent road trip when we spent a month in the area we didn’t see a single one which was surprising. But we still carried bear spray on our hikes. I’m really glad you liked the video, thanks for watching!
The hike to Plain of Six Glacier Hotel. To me, the best spot for sunrise at Lake Louise. Nobody compared to all the people at the front of Lake Louise. To me, I like Plain of Six Glacier tea house more than Lake Agnes Tea house
Nice video… just wandering do u usually take Bear pepper spray with u usually for these hikes ? Last time i was there was a limit on minimum of 4-5 people to hike to larch valley and sentinel pass maybe by September bears are hibernating 😅…
This recent trip was September- October. Yes it is touristy but in comparison to some other places, it’s not thatttt bad. Also, when you’re on some of the bigger trails, 80% of people don’t hike past the first mile so typically you get way more solitude on the longer hikes
I'm from Canada and I have to say, I'm curious where you are from? I'm assuming somewhere in the U.S. seeing especially as you didn't realize that YES, we DO have fall colors or as we would spell it colours. BUT...out East there are incredible Maple trees with beautiful and very RED foliage!!!! I have done many hikes, HOWEVER I learned something new recently that a cousin kinda mentioned BUT it wasn't until watching your video did I realize that Peyto Lake has a lower part?!?! SO...I'm NOT sure where it actually starts!!!! SO...I would actually LOVE to see the lower part of Peyto Lake. KEVIN, CAN YOU LET ME KNOW, WHERE DOES THE LOWER TRAIL START BECAUSE I HAVE ONLY SEEN THE UPPER LAKE!!!!! I tend to stay at Lake Louise every time in the Hostel. AND then if I want to go to Banff, Yoho or up the Iceway Parkway, it's just nice to be so close to many places. I HOWEVER, ALWAYS BUY GROCERIES IN CALGARY, they are CRAZY EXPENSIVE at Lake Louise is considered "THE HUB" because it's closest to the CONTINENTAL DIVIDE and therefore it is why there is the most picturesque views!!!!! GREAT VIDEO!!!!! I've explored our Rockies for many years as an adult, but do NOT live in Alberta, but still live pretty central, and a little more west. I just did a trip last fall and did the Big Beehive and it was AMAZING!!!!! 15 years ago, I did Lake Agnes and Six Glaciers but never heard anyone talk about the Beehives. I don't tend to do a hike more than once, b/c there are ALWAYS ANOTHER GEM to find!!!! BUT...through Facebook, I became a part of a group called, Canadian Landscapes and obviously you don't have to be Canadian to be a part of it. BUT...it was on Canadian Landscapes where I saw a photo of the top of the Big Beehive. AND so I was quite willing to hike Lake Agnes again to then go on. A different cousin and I hiked Bow Summit which you access in the same parking lot as the upper part of Peyto Lake. AND Bow Falls are AMAZING!!!!! Bow Falls and Bow Summit are on the list below that I found online. Yea...6 Glacier is pretty amazing and it's the only hike that I had done twice until, I did The Big Beehive last fall. The list I first found was 15 years ago, it's called the 9 1/2 best hikes around Lake Louise. Moraine Lake, however, I have had to drive up EVERY TIME I travel out west!!!!!!! Ironically when I first went to Moraine Lake, it was still ironically a little bit of a secret compared to Lake Louise. HOWEVER...it is DEFINITELY NOT a SECRET ANYMORE....BUT I STILL LOVE IT and NEVER TIRE of seeing another photo of it!!!!! I ABSOLUTELY AGREE, that MORAINE LAKE SHOULD BE ON EVERYONE'S BUCKET LIST!!!!!! The drive up is AMAZING when suddenly it opens up before the lake and you can see the 10 Glacier peaks!!!!!! I have to say, I KNEW that it had to be a mineral, but THANK YOU for sharing what the MINERAL IS CALLED THAT MAKES GIVES THE LAKES THAT AMAZING AQUA COLOUR!!!!! From Lake Louise, a FYI, The Ice Fields Parkway Highway 93 is only 2 km west of L. Louise that can take you to Bow Lake and Peyto Lake quite easily. (Again highly recommend Bow Falls, you actually walk around a part of Bow Lake and it is DEFINITELY a hike that I would do again!!!!! ). STUNNING!!!!! AND like I said, Bow Summit hike you park in the same parking lot as the upper, part of Peyto Lake and maybe the reason why I didn't realize there's a lower place to start though it's not a long hike obviously. Six Glaciers, Lake Agnes, Consolation Lakes, Bow Summit, Bow Falls are on the 9 1/2 best hikes around Lake Louise. The 1/2 hike, is Emerald Lake which is part of Yoho National Park and is very close again to Lake Louise. I just really like staying at the Hostel at Lake Louise.
I just came back 3 days from the Banff area, it was amazingly beautiful of those national parks like YOHO ,Jasper, and Banff national park.I also don't know that Peyto lake has a lower part? Only visited the higher part. The view of Peyto Lake was a stunning beauty.
@@heidihui8249 I HEAR YOU!!!!!!! There's ALWAYS a new adventure to do & the hikes are REALLY endless!!!!! Next time I'm there, I'm just going to ask at one of the Parks service who can answer your questions. The drive to Jasper, the Icefields Parkway, os on the list as one of the scenic drives in the world!!!!!!!
My wife and i spent 7 days in Banff on the last day she caught the flu so we didnt have a chance to make it to the Beehive 😔 we're going back in 2024 to wrap up our Banff honeymoon ❤
We noticed in your videos. That you were waking on some of meadows. The meadows at these elevations are extremely fragile and only grow for a few months. The plants that you stepped on can die from that foot step. Please practice Leave No Trace, and proper trail Etiquette. For more information on the the meadows. Look up meadow scaring.
We always always always follow Leave No Trace, and we actually preach LNT in a lot of our videos. I just want you to know that every location in this video is an established and well-known trail!
Rock flour isn't a mineral, it's just rocks of any type ground by glacial action into a fine flour that remains suspended in the water, affecting light transmission.

The drive to Jasper, the Icefields Parkway, os on the list as one of the scenic drives in the world!!!!!!!
where are you from ?
Great
Thanks Mel!
My wife and i spent 7 days in Banff on the last day she caught the flu so we didnt have a chance to make it to the Beehive 😔 we're going back in 2024 to wrap up our Banff honeymoon ❤
Holy crap!!! $125.00 for 30 minutes of canoe!
yeah it's kind of crazy haha
We noticed in your videos. That you were waking on some of meadows. The meadows at these elevations are extremely fragile and only grow for a few months. The plants that you stepped on can die from that foot step.
Please practice Leave No Trace, and proper trail Etiquette.
For more information on the the meadows. Look up meadow scaring.
We always always always follow Leave No Trace, and we actually preach LNT in a lot of our videos. I just want you to know that every location in this video is an established and well-known trail!
Were there people in the hiking trail? I also wanted to hike but don't want to be alone in the trail
What month is the best to see snow and does not limit access? Thanks!
I would say late September to early October is best!
Do we have to drive our own car while being there? Are there shuttle or bus rides from the hotels usually?
Alberta is the wild far west .... not a develop tourists area....
Rock flour isn't a mineral, it's just rocks of any type ground by glacial action into a fine flour that remains suspended in the water, affecting light transmission.
Thank you for clarifying David!
How many days should we a lot to visit the park. Is one day good per location?
