Rotherham untied 1995/1996 home kit, fun fact they won the EFL trophy by beating Shrewsbury Town in the 1996 final 2-1 I think wearing that beautiful Jersey.😁😁
They won it again in 2022 beating a club who just got relegated to National League Sutton United in 2024 we were the previous holders Sunderland but Rotherham United couldn’t defend the trophy because they got promoted to EFL Championship but we too would end up at Wembley that season as Sunderland won the play offs thus promotion and also we played Rotherham United the following season out of the 3 promoted clubs Sunderland finished the highest of the 3 as we finished in the play offs while Rotherham United flirting with relegation while Wigan Athletic went straight down
The funny thing is, is that the CBBC never repeated the earlier series in more recent times, however this doesn't seem to be the case with this episode as it's in good quality and has the newer CBBC logo in the corner! It makes me wonder if anymore of series 8 was shown as a one off in more recent times 🤔
True facts about Rotherham United they have played at three grounds since this episodes broadcast first being Millmoor then the temporary Don Valley Stadium and then The New York Stadium the club has only won two trophies in there life EFL Trophy in 1996 and EFL Trophy in 2022 I’ve been to see Rotherham United once or twice on each occasion they played my beloved Sunderland Rotherham United contest in the South Yorkshire Derby with Barnsley, Doncaster Rovers, Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday as it’s 2024/2025 Rotherham United could still play a South Yorkshire Derby against Barnsley and possibly Doncaster Rovers should they overcome Crewe Alexandra then either Crawley Town or MK Dons but at the time of writing this at 1:15am it hasn’t happened yet on 9th May 2024
