    You didn't mention Haunting Ground or Nightcry, nor did you talk about the differences between Clock Tower on SNES and on PSX.

    I thought ghost head had a pretty strong start. Some stuff is a bit hard to figure out and you can easily lock your game on a bad ending that triggers only a couple hours later, but the house with Stephanie trying to kill feels like a clock tower game. It falls apart in the hospital level though. My jaw almost dropped during the zombie shootout section.

    I played the ps1 game in the time it came out but definitely a series I need to revisit this franchise for sure!! I'm pretty big on point and click and super big on survival horror

      Nice man. Yeah I have a soft spot for those genres too. I played a lot of point/click adventure games on PC back in the day

    The PlayStation version (which would technically be #2) was the first game to ever actually freak me out. Growing up on horror movies, very few of these games actually scared me. Resident Evil? Well, it's hard to be scared when you're controlling a massive solider with mini guns and rocket launchers. But Clock Tower, man. You're basically defenseless most of the time and the little bastard could pop up anywhere at any time. Absolutely fantastic game. Didn't play the SNES version (or even know about it) until many years later when emulation hit the scene. Ghost Head was just OK. Didn't really care for it all that much, but it was a decent play through. Didn't care for 3 all that much, either. Just too overblown for me. If they were to proceed with it, I'd love a return to form, with PS1 era graphics and all. No magic bow and arrows, no time travel, just that classic hide and escape game play.

      Yup, my experience was similar. I'd love to see a new game one day pick up where 2 left off and ignore GH and 3. Here's hoping!

    I'm surprised you didn't mention "Haunting Ground/Demento" which famously used the development team from the older Clock Tower games and played like those games to a certain degree while trying to be it's own thing, but it's understandably expensive beyond measure.

    • @Johnnygrafx
      @Johnnygrafx  3 месяца назад +2

      Yeah, at one point I was going to include Haunting Ground and Night Cry in this but then I figured I'd just give all the Clock Tower spiritual successors their own video since there's enough of them to justify their own conversation. Thanks for watching! 🙂

    I wish you had covered Haunting Ground and NightCry which are technically also part of the same series. Very entertaining video otherwise.

    Personally, IMO, I don’t think any game could top the OG classic on SNES.

      I agree. The graphic in Clock Tower 2 the sequel to OG SNES is somehow age poorly.

      @@rebirth2526you mean the PS1 Sequel or that stupid spin-off “Struggle Within” that’s actually called “Ghost Head”?

    So, first off, point and click games aren't for me. I just can't get into them. I guess I lack the patience for them (while I have patience to play video game golf occasionally HAHA). I respect then genre and those who love these games, but they just aren't my bag, baby! (Said in an Austin Powers voice, of course.) Clock Tower 3 would be more my speed especially since there aren't tank controls. For some reason, I have graduated beyond the tank control games and can't look back. Sort of like I was unshackled and let out of a tank-control prison of sorts.
    That all stated, I see why Clock Tower the series is so highly respected and honestly, I never knew anything abut them at all before watching this incredibly informative and entertaining video. So, thank you for that. Anytime I can add to my knowledge of something, especially when it piques my interest- gimmie more of that! I would absolutely play CT3 for the heck of it and see if I can tolerate its quirks or if it can tolerate mine. CT 1 & 2... those are beyond me. I won't say I am above them as that isn't correct by any means. My attempting to play those two games would be like me attempting to try on a size 6 shoe; it just doesn't fit. Thanks for the dive into Clock Tower! A great video as always and I walk away with better knowledge for watching too!

    Having played all of the clock tower games up to this point, i found part 3 to be the most annoying for one key reason. I felt like the enemies showed up a little too often. In earlier games it felt like you were given a descent amount of time to explore and investigate before the villain of the game appears. In a way it took out the scare factor for me because I was more annoyed than afraid. That trope continues into Haunting Ground, and I only bring that game up because I heard it was going to originally be clock tower 4 before they changed the title.

    • @Johnnygrafx
      @Johnnygrafx  3 месяца назад

      Yeah, I agree. The enemies are kind of on top of you in 3 way too much. I feel like haunting ground was a little better in that regard but I haven't played it in a while.

    I gotta disagree with you on the original Clock Tower getting a remake as opposed to the sequel, the pixel art backdrop was significantly more unsettling than the crude early 3D of its sequel. Granted a remake would fix that, but I still prefer more mood setting pixel art than a highly realistic high end depiction.

    • @Johnnygrafx
      @Johnnygrafx  3 месяца назад +1

      That's fair. The original has definitely aged better for that reason.
