@KamalaChameleon Sooooo, you're saying I have a chance! 2025 will be the year to see the greatest leaps forward in the project! I’m hoping the quality improves enough that I can recommend the game to friends who are sitting on the fence. We’ll see. Thanks Mac for another great video!
They're designing this game to prevent you from ever stopping playing or taking an extended break from the game because if you stop playing, you stop paying the protection fee, and all your stuff gets taken away. If you start playing, you must then play forever unless you're okay with another wipe essentially. I'm not interested in giving the game control over my life.
Exactly what I'm worried about. They're designing this game around time sinks like you get in major guilds in other MMOs. With required times you have to be online no negotiation. They're designing large ships to be like 24/7 guild raid commitments. It's a very bad game design.
My 2 questions are: 1) Will the owner of a base be whomever builds it or how will those who build a base or someone else or for their org grant permissions (set ownership) to someone else? 2) With the mention of attacking a base requiring the attacker be on the same shard as the base owner while they are online, what's to stop people from making a second account to grant ownership to but then never login with? If base permissions can allow you to set the owner of a base but still allow a secondary admin for it, you'd only need to regularly send UEC to the owner account to keep paying for the planetary shield money sink (if you even go that route).
give me the option to have a small base with cargo capacity out of the wahoo so i can mine for liek 100 hrs and stack it up. refinery would be cool but not a "NEED"
One disagreement, unless I understood you wrong, is about raiding bases. They clearly said one ruleset would be “is the player online, if yes, every attacker needs to be relocated to that shard”. However, if player is not connected , this absolutely doesn’t mean the base cannot be raided.
Most the org I am in is ready to start building XL sized bases as we have like 12 Pioneers jn the org if I remember right. I have one my self. Along with all my mining ships from Orion down.
@ That’s like 80% of the community and I don’t get it. Why follow/play a game to the point where you watch videos in the first hours of their release just to be miserable about it? If you have this much distrust in CIG, leave the community. Don’t just be a drag within the community.
Seeing some of this being implemented in the next 2-3 years, and then seeing it completed, finalized, and polished by year 5 is a very reasonable expectation considering CIG's track record. I'd agree 10 years is a bit pessimistic, but then again SQ42 was supposed to be ready in 2016 (but basebuliding also isn't an entirely separate game either). But still, I understand why people want to keep their expectations low. As they say, keep your expectations low and youll never be disappointed. Game development is messy and delays happen, we all know this here. So giving a 'buffer' is generally a good idea. Especially as a content creator- you don't want to come off as *too* optimistic and sell people a reality that might be unreasonable. If Mac says 1-3 years or something- and many players take that and run with it. they might be disappointed down the line when/if it takes longer Personally I think we'll see base build in game within the next 2 years, and it will be mostly complete, and then take another 2 years or so to iron out some details, balancing, and add some extra features / polish. I.e. the first year its released will be the functional framework- and then more styles, building parts, quality of life stuff, smaller features, etc will be added later.
No one's forcing you to watch this video or play the game if you don't like it then move on and leave the people that do like it alone @@patrickguerriero5425
When it comes to PVP in bases, they are going to have to change their plans. The short-term it's fine. One organization will never be able to blockade another organization base. Say the defending organization has enough manpower to keep the enemy at Bay, but not enough to push them back. If the attackers tried to put up a blockade at Homestead eventually they will run out of the ammunition and supplies. All the Defenders have to do is send a couple players to a different server to go get supplies and bring it back. Because of things like this in the long term they cannot have your base on multiple servers. This applies to a lot of things even contested zones. Let's say there are 100 different servers. And you have one massive org. If there's a weekly reset on the contested zones. That large org might send a small group of players to each server. To keep track of and slowed the progress of contested zones. Then the main group of let's say 100 players jumps between server and clears the contestant zones one at a time. Best guarantees they get almost all of the loot. Now I understand whether it's one server or 100 that they can control the loot. The big difference is whether they get loot once or 100 times. Especially when there's going to be rare recipes.
more of an idea but what if we made a shop where we searched for rare and more rarer item and a bit of everything else out there wed be a shop of everything like a small space trade system that you would be in control of because of how high and rare of items we sell and search for we could even have search groups that would go out looking only for these type of things labeled under are trade routes
I wonder how they will manage the asset data. Imagine people have hundreds or more, of assets in game 'for sale'. A dealer with 1000 ships at their base. The game will have to manage all of that data. Duel Universe struggled with the amount of data. Will they have to limit the amount of assets a player can have in game.?

@ , that’s not what I’ve heard about the war hogs just lying in wait for people to come through the portal. Disregarding that, how about the fact that you’re talking about what you’ve experienced in a “testing” phase. That is hardly the numbers of everybody who plays the game. You’re talking about your experience of only a fraction of players. Don’t sit here and pretend that if you’re playing COD that comprises a server of only 30 people that the gameplay would be the same if there were 150, especially when there’s no control to balance the sides.
There are so many things they will contradict themselves in until the system is out and even after 1.0. And bringing a more visual styles should be at the very far back of development since it adds nothing substantial.

CIG could of course create some kind of uber scanner and find EVERYTHING on the planet but that would be OP, obviously. Even with advanced scanning, having counter measures that base builders could use to cloak their small visually hidden homesteads would have to a thing as well. These planets are so big that if people find a random spot in a forest on mircrotech, the likelihood of someone finding you should be incredibly low. I really want stealth building to be thing.

Am I being negative by saying star citizen is losing its identity and turning into a worse version of like 10 other games. Rust, Tarkov, Satisfactory, Ark, x4… I wish they would just focus on making a good space sim first, they’re doing too much. Do all this shit once you have a core game. The issue, other than not focusing on it’s own identity; each of the games star citizen is attempting to replicate in a single game, took 5+ years to develop their core systems, there’s no way star citizen can create all of these systems in one (currently none of which are in game) and its own connected underlying core system, in any reasonable amount of time. Put simply, they are biting off more than they can chew. Get the game to 1.0 with core systems and gameplay loops. Then worry about all the extras. Like base building, factory building, crafting, advanced trading systems, advanced shield / guild war system, etc.
Great, can’t wait for them to start the implementation of base building and then abandon it when it’s half finished, moving on to the next new shiny idea they come up with. I call it ADHD development.
When it comes to stealing players stuff "Make it tough, make it very tough" I don't know that they could make a system tough enough, while still being gameplay. Escaping prison is tough, very tough, but you have people essentially speed running it. That being said, if Pyro and other "pvp" systems end up being a troll fest, so be it I suppose, if that's what th players want, then murder and... steal... hobo, I guess, to your hearts content.
none of us are going to be alive to see this. Its taken them 15yrs to get to where their at and still have a huge amount of issue like when the game becomes unplayable.
i want it to stop being a scope-creeping persistent alpha.. at one point they have to stop adding new stuff and focus on stability and playability first. They've been riding the alpha-scooter for way too long
I'm going to add a pretty important correction here: CIG was very clear that planetary shields (whether in high security areas or by winning the weekly bidding wars in Nyx and Pyro) are the only ways for your base to be safe, and it will be SAFE, regardless of your online/offline status. If you do not have planetary shields, you can have your own shields on your base that make it invulnerable, but they can be turned off by other players, and the base is still considered vulnerable AT ALL TIMES. The only thing a player's online/offline status does is, if you attack a base that is vulnerable AND THE OWNER IS ONLINE, you must be on the same shard to attack it, and if you aren't you'll be given a prompt to join their shard so you CAN attack it. If they're offline, whoever attacks it first is the shard it's getting attacked in because bases can only be raided in one shard at a time. Players being offline doesn't do anything at all to protect them. That just means they don't have the opportunity to defend them. So if you want to keep your base from being raided, keep them planetary shields up all the time, and it won't matter if you're offline or not. Because being online when your base is attacked two jumps away also sucks for you, because they'll be able to be in your shard and you won't know...
Bases and building is a bad idea. Always was. Killed more MMO than anything it by itself, never seen it truly works. The only instance where it works is when it's instanced. This causes me more anxiety than anything else. :(
This is not like other MMO's dude. Relax. This shit is going to be lit. How is you just building a homestead on Microtech going to "kill the game" ? Just because it failed when implemented poorly in other games, doesn't mean its not a thing that MOST people really want. Also, you are making the claim that games died from base building assumes the game wasn't already dying ANYWAY and base building couldn't save it.
then they make the changes necessary to fix it. They are literally the GOD's of the world they are building; they can do anything they want and need to fix anything. You just need to have a little faith that the best engineers are out there putting there best years of their lives to build this game for us, and they take a LOT of shit for it. Relax, and its ok to be critical about the game, but try to provide CONSTRUCITVE feedback and be HELPFUL. making disparaging comments about cig on Ytube channels aint it dude.
Base building will never happen or it will be instanced the game just barely functions now with the current amount of entities. Entities that they are now making de-spawn faster to improve server performance. The game runs like ass now base building would at minimum quadruple the entity count.
in the production cycle of a video game you first add all the features you want and only start fixing bugs and polishing right before full release polishing a game before all features are in can not only waste time and money but also bog down development entirely

What if I just really like the ship and would like it doing something besides running data, especially since that's probably some time away?
Being able to rent spots on your base out to other players means we can legit build our own towns and cities. I'm so looking forward to that!
How base building will work at Crusader? A gas planet where you can't land, CIG already talked about it?
Maybe you buy a decommissioned barge instead of a land-claim, then you can build whatever will fit onto the available surface?
Maybe a claim will spawn a small platform away from Orison?
I was never so hyped to get access to own housing/Basebuidling as with Star Citizen.
Other MMOs should take notes... Yeah, I mean you World of Warcraft, we have waited over 20 years for it. :-)
Thank you for being a promoter of this massive project. I'm drained from all the negativity and skepticism from other "Pledgers." Just commit your pledges, pickup your complimentary ship for your contribution to the cause and wait it out. I've been around ten years plus and it hasn't hurt anyone.
What do I want? I want to be 100% self sufficient and not be reliant to going to a major city outside of maybe going in for some shopping and selling, and that's it.
I want to find a remote planet with beautiful scenery and build a little homestead near the water.
I'm actually going to hold off building until Castra ... nice little frontier style homestead in the forest under Sherman.
microTech is tempting, but I'm so over Stanton and want to live somewhere else.
Will they make the Daymar Rally route a no build zone? How are space stations going to impact the obstruction mechanic when QTing? Will our ships recognize them or just smash into them going millions of kilometers per hr?
The same way space works in real life.. nothing collides because it's all too vast and we're all too small.. I'm exaggerating but collision is unlikely
It has been awhile since i QT into a planet but you never know.
@KamalaChameleon Sooooo, you're saying I have a chance! Totally right, and I know it's unlikely but there will probably be handwavium like how we jump through the inner asteroid belt all the time in Stanton. Remember when CIG talked about having a gate we would have to go to to get passage through the ?Halo? belt?
"We are only limited by our imagination... and desync" 🤣
What about underwater bases?
Or...our own Asteroid bases , we can grab one with a SRV or something get a bunch of them together and have our own Grim Hex 😊
Would love to see timestamps 🙂
this comment is annoying. i think its the entitlement.
they did say that some regions would have an "architectural vocabulary" which van be acquired. looking forward to it
this is so insane, i can't wait to see all these features when im in my late 70s!
My 2 questions are:
1) Will the owner of a base be whomever builds it or how will those who build a base or someone else or for their org grant permissions (set ownership) to someone else?
2) With the mention of attacking a base requiring the attacker be on the same shard as the base owner while they are online, what's to stop people from making a second account to grant ownership to but then never login with? If base permissions can allow you to set the owner of a base but still allow a secondary admin for it, you'd only need to regularly send UEC to the owner account to keep paying for the planetary shield money sink (if you even go that route).
give me the option to have a small base with cargo capacity out of the wahoo so i can mine for liek 100 hrs and stack it up. refinery would be cool but not a "NEED"
An org base in castra to setup shop. And a private homestead somewhere overlooking water
I can't wait to accept org cargo hauling orders and shuttle down supplies to one of these player-made bases.
One disagreement, unless I understood you wrong, is about raiding bases. They clearly said one ruleset would be “is the player online, if yes, every attacker needs to be relocated to that shard”. However, if player is not connected , this absolutely doesn’t mean the base cannot be raided.
High sec bases can’t be raided offline.
Low sec can
Offline raiding without a chance to defend is gay.
@@Crittek there are also Female players. Offlining them would be straight?
@@4mazingZarek Still gay 💯
Most the org I am in is ready to start building XL sized bases as we have like 12 Pioneers jn the org if I remember right. I have one my self. Along with all my mining ships from Orion down.
I just want a small base with a living area place with a view. I like mining and salvaging so maybe a small refinery or something as well.
If you think this is 5-10 years out, you’re tripping.
Pretty sure it's sarcasm or pessimism.
@ That’s like 80% of the community and I don’t get it. Why follow/play a game to the point where you watch videos in the first hours of their release just to be miserable about it? If you have this much distrust in CIG, leave the community. Don’t just be a drag within the community.
But here you are anyway, commenting about it. Just walk away & play something else?
If Mac says 1-3 years or something- and many players take that and run with it. they might be disappointed down the line when/if it takes longer
Personally I think we'll see base build in game within the next 2 years, and it will be mostly complete, and then take another 2 years or so to iron out some details, balancing, and add some extra features / polish. I.e. the first year its released will be the functional framework- and then more styles, building parts, quality of life stuff, smaller features, etc will be added later.
My first base is going to be a warehouse for medical gown preservation
Honestly all of this makes me want to completely liquidate my base building pledges. I don't want the never ending time sink they're talking about.
I doubt u will be able to live off grid without being found. If there are alot of players, someone will find u.
nope. You underestimate how big these planets are.
And dont worry about any of this for a minimum of 3-5 years. Its all set for the 1.0 release, and probably way post 1.0 release
Have they ever said when this is supposed to come out?
more of an idea but what if we made a shop where we searched for rare and more rarer item and a bit of everything else out there wed be a shop of everything like a small space trade system that you would be in control of because of how high and rare of items we sell and search for we could even have search groups that would go out looking only for these type of things labeled under are trade routes
I wonder how they will manage the asset data. Imagine people have hundreds or more, of assets in game 'for sale'. A dealer with 1000 ships at their base. The game will have to manage all of that data. Duel Universe struggled with the amount of data. Will they have to limit the amount of assets a player can have in game.?
dude it struggles now with small percent of that :D :D with all of that game will just die. Fun.
@@totalnizmetekand right now they are not using server meshing. Eat those words once meshing is out.
@@CmdrGamagosk Servers cost money, so it probably won't be this infinite free for all. It'll be cool, but probably not exactly what people are imagining.
@@CmdrGamagosk I will. Promises keep piling up and nothing is being delivered. Aside from ships to acquire more funding.
@@totalnizmetek "nothing" is being delivered. really.. nothing? So what patch are we on... are we still back in the 2.0 days? Are still in PO days and no planets? I must be going crazy because the game I've been playing seems totally different then a year ago, ore even 6 months ago, but I guess you still somehow manage to see nothing? are we playing the same game?
Wouldnt it be more respectfull from CIG to make the pledged ships a repeatable non-tradeable data pad with a LONG recharge time?
Players payed alot, insurance is a black hole which i see many still panic of 'What will it be like'
1:23 the exact name of the track?
Brilliant report! Thank you, Sir
Everything is possible nothing is impossible, we'll make a ship for that!
Thank you for summarizing all of this for me.
i'll build on the 3rd rock from the sun, jungle deep
Looking forward to all of this... loved the "Limited by our imagination... and desync" Has the possibility of building on/in an asteroids? Is there going to be a means of adding custom images? If i start a t-shirt shop with a way of adding a company logo or numbering a limited run item?
No desync 😂😂😂. Keep up the work. I enjoy your videos. Always so much good info!
we already have crafting but its minimal. not that bad. we need that stuff can make us Food and drink for starter
If the games stability can barely handle when people abandon their ships all over the verse - how is it going to handle player-made bases
Is it first come first serve on locations?
2:45 base building terminal
So much info! Thank you 🤠
Awesome video thank you!
Wait till ExxonMobil wants to build a pipeline
Imagine, you’re setting up a base and getting attacked before you can even get anything in place…🙄
…well, at least you’re online…!
bro, this game is so fucking big, you're gonna be able to not only build a base in peace, but likely NEVER get found if you don't want to be found.
Isn't this like the third time you've released this video? This sel was a month or two ago.
There are so many things they will contradict themselves in until the system is out and even after 1.0. And bringing a more visual styles should be at the very far back of development since it adds nothing substantial.
Yeahs again base building, they listed security points, but hiw exactly are they gonna stop the folks who will just wait and destroy your base for kicks.... 4:37 ahh, then im gonna contiue as a belter then.
Yes I posted early, I'll own that but even with shields some folks just wanna see stuff burn, on a pro level, I've seen folks threatening in chat how they'll hunt bases, ... I've seen lengths folks go in other games lol.
I am old but an so wary about Habs
How does anyone think their servers, even with dynamic meshing, can handle base building? There’s no way. 5 years minimum.
do you think they will allow underground base builds?
So when is all this projected? Obviously years away..
"a place so remote that nobody will ever find it"
Flashbacks to the time when No Mans Sky claimed that their universe was so big that nobody would ever be able to find each other, and yet in the matter of days, people did find the same locations....
I have the creeping suspicion that people will come across the most remote locations regardless....
Especially with Explorer class ships with advanced long range scanning... you know, in 10 years
CIG could of course create some kind of uber scanner and find EVERYTHING on the planet but that would be OP, obviously.
We want a drug lab, Slam for everyone!
man i just want working elevator
well i cant even leave my hangar in Pyro...but pls gib base building
I hope to help others build and maintain; I like being a nomad but not so much regular life gameplay on a base. In return for support I like to request minor storage or refuge at the bases I support.
This is all were starfield wanted to be but never could 😂 btw i want cameras to see how another player destroyed my base when i was out 😂
Am I being negative by saying star citizen is losing its identity and turning into a worse version of like 10 other games. Rust, Tarkov, Satisfactory, Ark, x4…
I wish they would just focus on making a good space sim first, they’re doing too much.
Like base building, factory building, crafting, advanced trading systems, advanced shield / guild war system, etc.
main issues. is i think is NPC AI which is more than terrible :( at least what i saw at most of gameplays vids
Got the 🍿. hit play.
I love you take on the answers , when I watched it I got different answers to you LOL

Just post in your native language and let people translate, no one can understand this shit.
I'm so excited... 🤗
Great, can’t wait for them to start the implementation of base building and then abandon it when it’s half finished, moving on to the next new shiny idea they come up with.
I call it ADHD development.
coffee space weed empire
When it comes to stealing players stuff "Make it tough, make it very tough" I don't know that they could make a system tough enough, while still being gameplay.
Escaping prison is tough, very tough, but you have people essentially speed running it. That being said, if Pyro and other "pvp" systems end up being a troll fest, so be it I suppose, if that's what th players want, then murder and... steal... hobo, I guess, to your hearts content.
none of us are going to be alive to see this. Its taken them 15yrs to get to where their at and still have a huge amount of issue like when the game becomes unplayable.
RUclips shows this as 2h old but I remember already seeing this days ago. Was it re-uploaded?
I see lots of Duplication exploits
That is a lot to take in lol
based
i want it to stop being a scope-creeping persistent alpha.. at one point they have to stop adding new stuff and focus on stability and playability first. They've been riding the alpha-scooter for way too long
shhhhhhh!!!! Let the adults work Timmy and go back to playing with your Barbie Doll.
The two things are unconnected. Believe it or not.
@@WigganNuG sorry if i hurt your delicate feelings. do you need some vaseline?
Isn't an asteroid base what one of the default hangars that comes with our ships is?
but when
Bases and building is a bad idea.
So I'll build my bases on my alt account
My thoughts exactly
Will it be possible to share homes with alt accounts?
@Solar546 they said permissions will be allowed but thru might associate that to destructive if a patron or caretaker is present
lol all and hopes and dreams and current itteration of how cig implements gameplay it will just be a griefer playground with 0 consequence
then they make the changes necessary to fix it.
Second! Can’t wait to watch ❤
Could not keep watching this video due to Commercials every other minut. Idiotic.
Base building will never happen or it will be instanced the game just barely functions now with the current amount of entities. Entities that they are now making de-spawn faster to improve server performance. The game runs like ass now base building would at minimum quadruple the entity count.
Adding more? what about the stuff we have that barely works?
in the production cycle of a video game you first add all the features you want and only start fixing bugs and polishing right before full release
polishing a game before all features are in can not only waste time and money but also bog down development entirely
@@vliedtke You are absolutely correct. But those are closed development with no "live" servers. I understand how development works, you understand how development works, but the marketing team has hooked in a lot of people who assume live means finished.
@@callsigngrimdollits an unfortunate situation but theres not much that can be done. star citizen is a crowdfunded game, which allows them to do whatever they want without interference from a publisher, but it also means they have to get funding directly from the player, which means releasing the game before they might want to. sure it sucks, but theres just not much you can do about it.
@vliedtke i agree for sure but I mean in the form of stability sake, game has been out longer than all 4 of my kids yet it crashes at every turn, I love the game don't get me wrong but hundred of millions of dollars and many years you would think atleast Stanton would be somewhat polished, or is that crazy? None of my friends want to take that dive because after showing them me mining, doing bunker missions, etc they don't feel comfy dropping the dosh, sure the starter is like what 20 bucks?
