    your subsistence workers(and your sol) were doing poorly because grain was in a shortage(irregulars use grain instead guns) so no one could afford to buy it , and clothing/furniture was the same. you had more pops than the subsistence farms could produce for and not being in the russian market resulted in them not being able to buy anything they needed to raise their sol. Would recommend trading with russia for the furniture/clothing and then building a few farms. also pretty sure the civil war isolated you from the russian market which is why they gave you your own market. if you do it again staying in the russian market right until the war with russia would probably be the best and would avoid the sol issues during the build up.

    i wonder if kazakhstan can usually just flex their way to unrecognized major with enlistment decrees or if you have to do a certain amount of conquest and building to get there
