Legends !!! Nice and clear. Thermal camera gives you a sound feeling of the roof rafters. Temperature prints the roof "skeleton". Be safe All !!!

That's exactly right. Like with all disciplines in the fire service, these things take practice for proficiency. Keep the saw vertical, and move it quickly. These are the two keys to feeling the rafters... that and practice. Keep up the practice and you'll get a feel for it.

Pike poles in our experience don't provide good sounding with their small head, and don't perform as well to louver as the tip tends to stick in the deck instead of pushing through like the larger surface area of a rubbish hook. We do carry a variety of hooks for different jobs, but the rubbish hook is our standard for residential ops.

Awesome demonstartion. Place the hook lower on the roof deck to get the full 4x4 hole.
I personally like to start pushing in ceilings on residentials with the tines. It will push material in quicker. Only if I find it hanging up, will I flip the tool.
