This is the fallout of overturning Roe vs Wade. How did state legislatures get into the business of dictating women's health choices? Don't they have more relevant state business to address?
Wow, just because it finally passed the house, it needs to pass the senate. However, this also means one has to pay attention to the law being created and presented to the people in November! We all need to know Women's Rights will still need More attention! Vote wisely in November. Do not let this passive change affect the determination to reinstate full women's rights!
To the best of my knowledge, this being repealed still only gives us the lousy 15 week limit law, which is still terribly narrow. I hope this stunt by the court wasn't just to get us content with JUST that one without doing any efforts to go back to at LEAST Roe standards, which was _already_ a strict compromise even over 50 years ago. Give the Republicans an inch, and they'll take us back to the colonies.
Oh, sure, because it's totally not barbaric and archaic to force women into becoming prisoners of their own bodies while pregnant, when all the other silly and made up religious reasons to do so gradually keep fading away.
Imagine a world where we didn't worry about abortion and left it between the mother and doctor... I ask or challenge any PROLIFER, to leave emotion and religion out of it when answering this question... How does a woman's choice to have an abortion, especially in a completely different part of the world because let's be real, you would seek to have a global abortion ban if you could, how does it affect YOU personally in any way shape or form other than the simple fact that you disagree with it? Do you feel a pinch or shiver down your spine every time an abortion is performed? Does YOUR wallet or bank account feel lighter when a mother makes the difficult choice?
Science says it's a life, and if we believe in human rights, it has a right to life. I don't care what the woman does with her body. When it comes to mutilating and tearing apart the body inside of her, is what people that are prolife want to protect.
The problem with your rational perspective and analysis is that religion gives rise to passionate emotion, overriding all capacity for reason. No only that, but these zealots are ordered by the tenets and laws of their religion NOT to use reason--"the Devil's playground." They scorn any form of higher education, science in particular. In the 1950s it was all about "a Communist plot." Seventy years later it's all about Satan letting loose on the world. These people's credulity is shocking. As is their desire to be dominated by some sort of Overlord. Real or imaginary.

Ok, so wow. In the 1870s, when this law was originally passed, Arizona had less then 10,000 residents. What a great basis upon which to argue a statute being re-enacted. I'm sure they did a stellar job back then to make sure the law was sound. So, who was responsible for the law back then? House Speaker William Claude Jones. Jones was responsible for shepherding the abortion ban through the Legislature. Around this time, Jones abandoned his first wife. Throughout his life, he would have three more wives, including a 12-year-old, a 15-year-old, and a 14-year-old at the time of their weddings.
I have no issue with people debating either perspective, as long as they do so with facts. Sadly the pro life side seem incapable of doing this, and even in this report, there are many instances of this. I can't think of anywhere on the planet that has 'unrestricted access to abortion', because, there are STRICT medical ethical constraints controlling access, administration, and limits, on access to such a procedure, something which the pro life side completely fail to acknowledge, let alone research. To stand up and say that the majority of people don't support abortion being available, is an outright lie. We know this as in one state, after Roe v Wade was overturned it was put to a vote, and the vote was for no ban. The trigger laws enacted in many states, after the overturning of Roe v Wade, was absolutely diabolical, and certainly not an example of democracy at work. I haven't seen any of those states involve or consult with medical experts to examine the issue, they just literally flicked a switch and banned everything and the fallout has been shocking. OBGYNs leaving certain states. Women needing treatment having to travel if they even had the resources to be able to do so, and being threatened with criminal prosecution. Perfect example of how to reverse society back 60 years and completely disregard women's rights. It is sad that it has taken this long for the ban to be repealed, but there are still many other states where their trigger laws remain in place. As for the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v Wade, that needs to be looked at with a fine tooth comb. It makes no sense for a civilised democracy to decide the complete opposite to what every other democratic country has long decided. Even in IRELAND, where religion has played such a pivotal role in society, abortion is legal, after a 3 day waiting period and if the pregnancy is less than 12 weeks. Even in Ireland!!!!! Just let that sink in. On a subject like this, Ireland is more liberal than some of the states in America.... go figure.
i dont get it. This is a total ban on any situation? Before a certain time it should be totally legal but if your taking out a full healthy live body.....thats crazy.
I am afraid you have been, I hesitate to say brainwashed by the Evilgelicals but there is almost 0% of that happening nationwide. Have you been convinced of their psy op that women in California have 4-5 abortions a year?
Let's leave religion or if this for a min.. Let's take a good look at or IF these woman are really looking at just themselves or are ANY OF THEM... IS THERE NO THOUGHT OF THIS UNBORN CHILD AND WHAT KIND OF FUTURE OR LIFE OR PERSON IT COULD BE IF GIVEN A CHANCE... IF THEY DIDN'T WANT THE CHILD GIVE IT A CHANCE WITH SOMEONE ELSE THAT WANTS A CHILD OR SOMEONE THAT WANTS ONE AND MAYBE CAN'T HAVE CHILDREN. BEING SELFISH, THOUGHTLESS BRINGS ALONG LIFE LONG CONSEQUENCES.
In other words you would force a woman to carry a pregnancy to term, subject her body to major changes in order to give up a child. I wonder how many of these legislators would truly force this onto their daughters, women friends, or wives and husbands who cannot afford another child. The medical implications of birth, the financial costs etc. - who is willing to pay? Birth control is not 100% effective.
You amuse me by completely ignoring the fact that you can't forcibly give a piece of a woman's body a chance at anything without taking away the chance for the women to just not be pregnant till later or just plain never if they feel like it. Why SHOULD we be birthing kids into dis-functional circumstances anyway? How is artificially making things worse on our women supposed to be good for our society?
What's the matter with people and having thought to a choice. I don't think I said anything about forcing any woman to do anything... Not sure why people have such a problem with thinking about the choices they're making... To not have to worry about consequences after the fact.... And just because people use all caps does not always mean that they're yelling. Sometimes it's just getting a point across to give a better understanding. I think some people are just too simple-minded to understand anything outside of their own little box. Sorry that some people might be limited in thought. Must have stuck a nerve about being selfish and thoughtless of another human being that they're carrying. You can't blame a child for something that wasn't their fault to begin with.
