    I am thinking about getting into leatherworking and I was curious about why you used glue mixed with water? does that have a different effect in comparison to just water or does the clue coat the leather, or is a third option that I have no idea about. Also fantastic job on the video!

    • @skinznhydez
      @skinznhydez  4 года назад +2

      I use the glue mix to for a couple reasons. Mainly to help maintain the stiffness of the leather and longevity reasons. I also add another medium to the mix... which I won't disclose ;) I still have to keep a couple secrets

    • @skinznhydez
      @skinznhydez  4 года назад +2

      It does help a bit at repelling water but I don't use it for that reason alone and I definitely use other means to weather proof it

    I’m looking forward to giving this pattern a go, but may I ask what thickness leather you’d suggest? (Oh video wasn’t bad for your first tutorial, I’d maybe suggest subtitles for when you’re hammering/drying though). 🤣👍

    • @skinznhydez
      @skinznhydez  4 года назад +2

      Lol I will definitely add some subtitles! Thanks for your input. If you check out the description in my listing for the pattern it tells you the specifics. I use a 6/7oz leather. You can use whatever you feel comfortable using though. I've tried a range of thicknesses but found the 6/7oz works well

    • @DemonMage

      I use a combination of things but for simplicity sake try Elmers... not the School glue. There are different types. You could try white wood glue too. Just wipe it off after it's taken out of it's bath.

      I used to use my own face. But you'll have to experiment of the drying/molding technique. It'll have to be a bit more dry before you start molding it.

    Is the glue and water mixture 50/50?

    • @skinznhydez
      @skinznhydez  4 года назад +1

      No. It's more of a 2%-10% glue to 90%-98% water. Depending on the project and how you're feeling that day. Its a rough estimate
