I just bought a new 2023 Civic Touring two weeks ago. I’d been driving my ‘02 Civic LX for 18 years, so it was way past time for an update. My local Honda dealership has had NO Civics in stock for OVER A YEAR! Then like magic on January 1, they suddenly had Accords and Civics - mostly Sports, but they had two Tourings, both in the color scheme I wanted. Knowing the inventory is low everywhere in South Florida, I jumped on it! I was able to pay cash (no car payment!) and am super happy with the car so far. It’s gorgeous. And it’s a Honda, so it should run AT LEAST 10 years, hopefully closer to 15 years.
Love the car but just hit 37k and steering issues. Reported it to NHTSA hoping Honda will issue a fix or a recall since it’s happening on so many civics.
I have the same issue since I got my 2016 brand new back then. Went to the dealership multiple times and they just say "we can't reproduce". I also reported to NHTSA, contacted honda, had a case opened but nothing was ever done. Look up about the class action lawsuit, it is happening and you should join.
It's called the Baby Accord. Much appreciate all the coverage you have done. Talking about waiting list or time frame of obtaining a Civic Touring just insane. It's Sept. 2022 and been said mine will arrive in 4 to 6 weeks from the factory as now it has been 1 week. No VIN been issued yet since not finished. The MSRP gone up to $30,245 from $29,150 earlier in the year and dealership markup can be between $1 to $1,000 as average markup is $600 to $700. The 3 Honda dealers in Syracuse, NY have next to nothing maybe 4 to 10 new vehicles that most people not in the market for, the lots are empty and have some certified and used. It's 1st come 1st serve. Choice of car color is whatever being sent out of the factory. Take it or leave it. Therefore, with Sales Tax, Motor Vehicle Dept. for Plates, Registration, and Title, dealer fee and other fees .. Driving out a new 2022 Civic Touring will cost $34K, more if you get Honda Care which is around $1,300 to $1,500 for 8yr/100K and $0 Deductible. Tack on accessories you may spend around $36K. If you don't care about all the bells and whistles, you could get an baseline Accord for around $35K providing you or your dealer can find one. The car shortage will continue into 2023 and new car prices will rise another $1,000 to $2,500 for something that was $25K in 2022.
@@Shakeem Yeah! Shakeem, you are a nice guy. Work as it may be at your Honda dealer been rather interesting to say the least. Hope all is well with you are your GF/ or spouse. Thanks for your videos. Should I drop the purchase agreement as only have $500 deposit and there been no exchange and go for the 2023 model. Nothing exchanged hand and the 2022 still not delivered from the factory nor has a VIN been issued. Not sure take my money and go to the dealer getting 2023 Civic Touring as I suppose they too could be in for a long wait. All 11th generation civics and new integras have steering rack issues. This is currently being investigated by NHTSA. Steering becomes sticky at highway speeds and vehicle becomes very difficult to drive in a straight line.
I first noticed it on mine on long drives on the interstate 75 to 80 mph. Now it's becoming more constant. Check NHTSA, they have over 190 complaints just for the sticky steering. Also check 11 generation civic forum titled "steering". My touring has 17,000 miles on it.
Dude it blows my mind that Honda didn't test the steering components properly. The more I drive my Si more I dislike it. This is gonna be my last Honda for sure.
Yup i have same issue. I have ‘22 Honda Civic Touring and around 9K miles I began to notice my steering on longer drives or straight drives felt stiff and weird when steering. Now its almost all time. Its super annoying
@a70001400xify If you haven't yet, get it to your dealer and get the part ordered asap. My rack was ordered in March and won't be available until July. My civic is being stored in my garage and honda provided a long term rental.
I got my civic a year ago and my splashproof got damaged quite quickly. I then decided to remove my splashproof but I now have a metal piece on the bottom of the car that scraps the floor whenever I go on an incline or decline. Thanks for your time.
I have a touring as well and the steering wheel has a clicking noise and when I'm on freeway it kinda gets hard like when I'm merging onto another freeway it seems to kinda get stuck
I wouldn't say "First generation" as much as "first year of a new Generation and or major model change" where they change powertrain and inside or even frame up redesigns. I learned the hard way when Nissan released the "redesign" 3rd Generation Altima's back in 2002. It was a "lemon aid stand" lemon. What I mean is we would see a issue 2 maybe 3 months before they would do a recall on the issue to fix it. Nissan was fast to get things repaired, but it was a monthly thing to find something making noises or worst just breaking down. I think it got towed three times during our 3 years of ownership. All that did push me away from the Nissan brand as a whole. So from the experience the one thing I learned was never ever buy the first year of a full redesign. Cosmetic refresh or body refresh I am fine with, because the engine and transmission and internal components of the car are 95% the same, so I am good with that change up. I am really liking the new 2023 CR-V Sport (Hybrid). But I know better and will wait for the 2024 or even 2025 before I buy one.
I have had mine for a few months. I noticed to much wind noise around the driver's door. Sure enough it had a bad rubber seal. They replaced it and that was that. Now I think there are tiny bubbles in the windshield. I can only see them when the sun hits at a certain angle. Anyone else noticed something like that?
Sing the Don Ho song, Tiny Bubbles. Oh! for extra noise features do the Rice Crispy commercial Snap, Crackle, Pop. If you are really good do the song from Hot Butter "Popcorn" using your tongue clicking against the roof of your month.

Aloha Shakeem, on the fence between 2023 honda Civic sport 2.0L and sport touring hatchback 1.5L. I’ve heard 2.0L K20C2 is a reliable engine 1.5L head gasket issues. Just wanted to get your thoughts thank you in advance.
Got a 2022 touring . Mine barely has 1,170 miles I noticed the panel noise with 20 miles in the odo . Took it in and said it was my glasses and wheel locks like what ?? . My steering also acts weird at times I thought it was that lane assist this took it off still does it
They don’t make these cars like they used to man.. I bought a brand new accord three months ago and I’m already having problems with it.. every time I turn the heat on it makes a weird nose only when it’s cold outside. 😩
My civic is in transit and should be here any day. I’m hoping they have already taken care of the screen rattle issue since it was just built 2 weeks ago. Mine is the touring in Sonic Gray Pearl. Have you noticed the issue with road noise? I keep hearing it has horrible road noise.
@@Shakeem I had a 21 sport touring that I sold in June when I put the deposit on my 22. If it’s no worse than it I’ll be happy. A lot of the reviews I have watched made it sound like it was unbearable.
I just took delivery of a 23 Si and I have to tell you that it’s not noisy at all. I’m actually shocked at how quiet it is because Honda’s in general have had noticeably more road noise than other makes.
Quick question. I noticed your trunk release button on the inside of your driver’s door when you opened it… i have the 2022 sport hatchback touring trim… and I absolutely cannot find any trunk release buttons anywhere. Just on the key fob which doesn’t even pop the hatch door. Its just flashes the lights on the rear indicating that the rear hatch is unlocked. Do u know if the hatches have a pop trunk feature or button?
I have a 2024 c8vic sedan. My issues are you have to have android phone plugged into usb to get voice recognition & make a call. But when not using Usb & just bluetooth you cannot get the voice part on the steering wheel to work. It says " voice recognition " is not available. So i either use the screen to make calls or plug it in using USB in order to use that feature. Hate to use screen as have to look at that & takes your eyes off the road for a bit. But did accidentally discover you can answer & hang up pressing the scroll wheel on the steering wheel. 😊 even though there is no telephone answer/ hang up symbol on the steering wheel like other cars have. 🤔 Weird
@Shakeem yes, I don't know why android doesn't have the same capability that iPhone has. Guess I'll have to live with that, but is a bummer & let down. Honda should have figured a way to make both equal. Ow well, thanks for the response 👍
Yoo can anyone help me I was chilling in my 2022 Honda civic sport while parked. watching a couple videos after 20min or longer my hole car turned off. I turned it back on and everything was fine. I just got it so it’s a little frightening.
It’s a feature on Hondas. Just incase you leave your vehicle running by accident it don’t remain running. If it’s been running without touching anything for a while it’ll auto shut off
I put a deposit on a civic EX back in June and currently still waiting for it to arrive haha. I’m going to be trading my 2018 Kia Rio in for it and unfortunately I haven’t been able to test drive the civic yet due to no stock at my local dealership. Is the handling good on the car? I’ve heard about the civic having bad road noise. I’ve also never owned a Honda before but coming from a kia, I think I’m making the right choice. Thanks for the video- this was helpful!
Compared to the Rio you will Love it. Road noise is okay not the best. But most cars in this segment don’t have good road noise. It will definitely feel more premium then your Rio. You won’t regret it
My 2022 Toyota Corolla SE Sedan has no issues at 16,000 miles. No rattles, smooth as silk. This is my 1st Toyota car and I’m really satisfied. Toyota is #1 for a reason
Yo! I put a deposit on a civic sport a few months ago. It's suppose to be ready soon. I'm buying the car and am thinking about getting the ex instead because of the turbo. I've done tons of research and am a little weary on getting one because I've seen issues with oil dilution on the older crvs and civics with the 1.5t engine. How often are you changing the oil? Have you heard of this before or on any of the new models with the turbo?
It's running too rich at wot. But it is better than leaner and running hot 🔥 🥵 says my j35 after a wot right after picking up my amigo from El Salvador to job 😀 . 4 minutes later I can hear my oil boiling like popcorn in the microwave oven
I’ve sold many of those and haven’t had anyone reach out with a problem. I owned a 2020 crv touring with the 1.5 and currently a 2022 civic touring with no issues
Do you have any issues with weak paint? My Civic seems to be getting a lot of tiny holes where paint is not visible and you can see the metal part of car. I have not hit it or anything and it's hust from normal driving. I mentioned this to my salesman and he said it's normal but never had a car do this.
Mine is doing that and the paint chips Bad to. Now it’s having electrical issues and is currently not running. 2022 and 59 thousand miles. I bought it new
According to too big. Didn’t need that much space at the time. And the gas mileage is way better. Also an Accord Touring was about $40,000. When the Touring Civic was $10,000 less
I have 9 payments left on my 2021 civic sport and I'm interested in possibly getting into a 2023 civic ex or touring is it possible to lease a 23 ex or touring maybe around november or december? or will it be better if i wait until my lease is up next april?
It All depends on what your civic is worth. Also you payments may go up since you are going up to higher trims. If you car is not worth more than your pay off you are better off waiting. But you won’t know until you head down to the dealership and get an appraisal
@@Shakeem I understand I also don’t put any money down when I lease a vehicle right now I have about 22,000 on the civic and I do a lot of driving almost everyday back and fourth to work and so on I’m just hoping not to go over the 10,000 mile allowance when I return the vehicle let me ask u? If I decide to go for an Hrv exl or sport will that be less In payment? I heard it’s less to lease compared to a Honda civic if I’m correct?
There’s alot of variables when it come to leasing so I can’t give you a direct yes or no if your payments will go up. Everything will depend on your civic trade value and the current lease specials or money factor
Civics never been good with road noise. I’ll say most cars in this class don’t have super quiet road noise. I just love with it. And the oil dilution was mostly with 2017-2019 CR-V’s. Haven’t herd or experience anything with the 1.5 civics
So one thing I’ve learned so far. Hondas engines might be good but the interior is pretty horrible. Lots of rattles, seatbelt, Center and passenger area, issues with changing radio stations and temperature, engine also revs slightly while in park
I've got a 2022 civic LX sedan and I keep hearing a light rattle when I accelerate. Kinda mid research on what it might be. I keep hearing it from the front passenger side. I'm in Canada btw. Any thoughts?
I managed to snag a 2023 Civic Hatchback Touring a few weeks ago and love it so far. I haven't noticed any issue with screen rattle - do you know if Honda made the permanent fix for it in the 2023 build?
I bought the civic 2022 touring only haveb2 issue so far sun roof rattles and driver seat belt dosent go backnin automaticly . No issues with anything else btw i got the sonic grey pearl hahaha
Maaaan, I've been waiting for my car(Sport Touring Hatch) since April and even put deposit. But until now still waiting and my dealership can't really give me ETA for some reason. Would you be able to help me out bro, I'm from Canada BTW. Cheers
I walked into a dealership in April and ask for a sport touring. Some of the guys almost laughed at me. One came over and said they had one in the back but they were waiting on a part for the AC. (Relay switch) ask if they could get one off a different car. They did it and i actually went home with that car that day. I know I got lucky. But it's a great car and I think it's worth waiting for.
It depends if you are shopping for a mid size sedan or Compact Sedan. That’s a huge factor since both of them are two different sizes. Also the Touring Civic is fully loaded and the Accord Sport is one trim above the base model. So if you shopping for features Touring is the At to go. But if you need more space and don’t need anything fully loaded Accord Sport is a good way to go
Hello, Shakeem. You are a really decent gentleman discussing your 2022 Civic Touring and having provided us with some updates. I do have a question? about rough idle until the car warms up and engine noise while driving under 30 mph. (city). My wife's 22 Civic Touring (bought new in Oct. 2022) has a constant rat-a-tat rough-sounding engine when at stops lights and up to 30 mph. Then it seems smooth and quieter with higher rpm/ mph. It really hates driving up any inclines. Today April 12, 2023, having its first maintenance check at the place of purchase after 6 months. Civic has 1,557 miles. Suppose to do the typical # point inspection, oil & filter change, check out or diagnose the engine noise, body shop person to check the rear passenger door lower rocker panel, the factory installed/attached a damaged piece as does not fit well (has a half inch gap) compared to the driver's side and can see these jagged saw-tooth ridges in the plastic molding/panel. Knowing the body shop people at the Honda Dealership they'll just seal the gap with black silicone calking and say we fixed it and try to charge me an hour of labor and $50 for use of silicone. Already being charged $20 to put on the OEM Wheels (had bought 16-inch steel with Michelin X-Ice Snow as I live in upstate New York). The dealership put the winter wheels on for $24 back in early Dec. as purchased them from Tire Rack. Always thought with Oil Change would rotate tires for free as most places would. This will be the very last time going back to the dealership where I purchased the Civic. They are money-hungry conniving thieves. I hope your Honda employer treated you well or where you worked at one. Noticed the auto manufacturers are using very cheap paint and clear coats. Cars are very easy to scratch and chip. Not flake or peal. Probably won't have any paint left on the car if you drive through one of those desert dust/sand devils. Guess everyone is building cheap cars with the cheapest materials possible and selling them overpriced. More Airbags and tech gadgets that might work in an accordion vehicle, get into an accident and your vehicle is totaled. If I could afford it, I'd just buy a tank, and if other drivers don't move out of my way ... umm...life goes on for me ... that's what happens when you buy plastic consumable vehicles ... crush. I wonder, How many Air Bags are needed in a vehicle in hopes they are functional and will save your life. Truth is, never rely on any deployed airbag to save your life today vehicle crinkles like wadded paper. Average Fuel. Today says New 33.8mpg and the Previous was 23.6mpg ... the computer is confused. Maybe later I will give info as to what it costs to have the 2022 Civic Touring's first service/maintenance check-up. Black forever showing water spots and dirt as be the first and last Black car I'll ever buy ... hard to keep clean. Also will be the last Honda I'll ever buy too. My 1st Honda ever had was a 2011 Civic EX-L Atomic Blue with sunroof bought certified used in 2014 even though noiser cabin drives better than the 22 Civic Touring.
I want to trade in my 2022 Accord Sport 2.0T for the new Civic Touring. The Accord is just too big for me and my family. Plus i live in Cali so gas is not cheap.

I’ve owned both engines. Sold civics with the 2.0 and 1.5T to numerous buyers. Myself or any of my clients never encountered a problem.
I agree with the demand i waited almost 2 months for my civic ex b and its a step up from a lx
Ex-b ? Do you live in Canada ?
@Shakeem yup the amount of money I paid for it. I could have got a grand touring down there
My civic is in transit and should be here any day. I’m hoping they have already taken care of the screen rattle issue since it was just built 2 weeks ago. Mine is the touring in Sonic Gray Pearl. Have you noticed the issue with road noise? I keep hearing it has horrible road noise.
It’s not horrible but civics always had road noise
@@Shakeem I had a 21 sport touring that I sold in June when I put the deposit on my 22. If it’s no worse than it I’ll be happy. A lot of the reviews I have watched made it sound like it was unbearable.
How is it so far?
I just took delivery of a 23 Si and I have to tell you that it’s not noisy at all. I’m actually shocked at how quiet it is because Honda’s in general have had noticeably more road noise than other makes.
You have any problems with the steering??
Didn’t have any when I had it
Quick question.
Hatches don’t have a trunk release button. Either unlock it from the tailgate it self or unlock the door
@@Shakeem wow that sucks. Lol But okay good to know ✅
I have a 2024 c8vic sedan. 🤔 Weird
I’m not sure why Android Auto is that way. Siri worked perfectly fine wireless with Apple CarPlay
You won’t regret it
I have had a few Hondas and one Hyundai/Kia. You are making the right decision and the smart one. You are going to think you are in a luxury car.
Only on 2017 - 2019 CRVs . Haven’t had any customers have the oil dilution in civics, accords, and newer CRVs
It's running too rich at wot. But it is better than leaner and running hot 🔥 🥵 says my j35 after a wot right after picking up my amigo from El Salvador to job 😀 . 4 minutes later I can hear my oil boiling like popcorn in the microwave oven
@@Shakeem appreciate it
There’s claims that port injection valves carbon up as well as spark plugs need to be changed more often.
you work for honda? i reserved a touring hatch 2023 and heard about problems with old 1.5t engines
I’ve sold many of those and haven’t had anyone reach out with a problem. I owned a 2020 crv touring with the 1.5 and currently a 2022 civic touring with no issues
My 2022 civic touring has problems with the screen always glitching. Sometimes it turn blue or just glitches
I never herd of that happening. Did you bring it to Honda ?
Your B-pillar trim on the inside doesnt look like its fitting well with the roof either.
Is the touring bigger than the sport? They look different to me..
Same size. Touring just have more features
I know there's not many, but how have the 6spd manuals been holding up? I'm waiting for a 2023 hatch sport hatch with the 2.0 L in boost blue.
It’s the same power train as the previous generation. Thry should hold up well
Do you have any issues with weak paint? My Civic seems to be getting a lot of tiny holes where paint is not visible and you can see the metal part of car. I have not hit it or anything and it's hust from normal driving. I mentioned this to my salesman and he said it's normal but never had a car do this.
No issues with weak paint. But sounds like you got a lot of rock chips
@@Shakeem I also drive in all paved areas.
Mine is doing that and the paint chips Bad to. Now it’s having electrical issues and is currently not running. 2022 and 59 thousand miles. I bought it new
Do you know anything about an oil leak on the heads?
Why the civic over accord? Just curious.
According to too big. Didn’t need that much space at the time. And the gas mileage is way better. Also an Accord Touring was about $40,000. When the Touring Civic was $10,000 less
Beautiful car! Looks so good!
It is!
Yo bro so I got an EX model but I’m thinking of buying the touring radio and swap it
Is that possible? Or will I get codes if I do that
That sounds like a headache tbh. I’m not sure though
I have 9 payments left on my 2021 civic sport and I'm interested in possibly getting into a 2023 civic ex or touring is it possible to lease a 23 ex or touring maybe around november or december? or will it be better if i wait until my lease is up next april?
also would the payment be less if i lean towards the 22's?
Me and my wife have that exact same car color and all. What can you do about road noise and how do you tackle oil delusion on a 1.5 engine? oil
Civics never been good with road noise. I’ll say most cars in this class don’t have super quiet road noise. I just love with it. And the oil dilution was mostly with 2017-2019 CR-V’s. Haven’t herd or experience anything with the 1.5 civics
@@Shakeem all the 10th gen 1.5t engines has oil dilution issues bro, including mine sadly.
That’s a first for me. I’ve sold many 10th civics and haven’t had any customers have that issue
@@Shakeem yea man, i was just watching this video trying to find ways to reduce it. Check it out. ruclips.net/video/-wZKZZ6AoVc/видео.html
@nood1ez bro u still have oil dilution problems ?
So one thing I’ve learned so far. Hondas engines might be good but the interior is pretty horrible. Lots of rattles, seatbelt, Center and passenger area, issues with changing radio stations and temperature, engine also revs slightly while in park
Those are from personal experience?
@@Shakeem yeah. It’s off and on so anytime I bring it to the dealer they say they can’t reproduce it.
Sorry to hear that. Besides the screen issue I haven’t had any of those happen
I've got a 2022 civic LX sedan and I keep hearing a light rattle when I accelerate. Kinda mid research on what it might be. I keep hearing it from the front passenger side. I'm in Canada btw. Any thoughts?
@lalalal8111 yup.. it was the runner on the front passenger window. Got it fixed yesterday.
I managed to snag a 2023 Civic Hatchback Touring a few weeks ago and love it so far. I haven't noticed any issue with screen rattle - do you know if Honda made the permanent fix for it in the 2023 build?
I hope so. Haven’t had any customers mention anything on in their 2023
Rain got into my hatch in the first week
I want to trade in my 2018 Honda civic ex for the 2022 Honda civic touring but I would want to order it but not sure how that works with a trade in
Bring it to your local dealership and they will give you an estimate on trade in value
I bought the civic 2022 touring only haveb2 issue so far sun roof rattles and driver seat belt dosent go backnin automaticly . No issues with anything else btw i got the sonic grey pearl hahaha
Definitely a lot better quality then previous civics but won’t be super quiet either
My carplay just completely doesn't work. Gonna cost me $1200 to fix
Where is this shop located?
It’s a Honda dealership in New Mexico
@@Shakeem do they ship?
Ship parts or cars ?
@@Shakeem cars
Maaaan, I've been waiting for my car(Sport Touring Hatch) since April and even put deposit. But until now still waiting and my dealership can't really give me ETA for some reason. Would you be able to help me out bro, I'm from Canada BTW. Cheers
Honda been having issues building hatchbacks. I still have deposits I took in the beginning of the year waiting to be built
Shakeem question? Since a 2022 Accord 1.5T Sport and a 2022 Civic Touring cost about the same, which would you recommend? And why? Thanks in advance.
It depends if you are shopping for a mid size sedan or Compact Sedan. That’s a huge factor since both of them are two different sizes. Also the Touring Civic is fully loaded and the Accord Sport is one trim above the base model. So if you shopping for features Touring is the At to go. But if you need more space and don’t need anything fully loaded Accord Sport is a good way to go
@@Shakeem Thanks, I guess Touring it is. If I can find one. 🤣
My 1st Honda ever had was a 2011 Civic EX-L Atomic Blue with sunroof bought certified used in 2014 even though noiser cabin drives better than the 22 Civic Touring.
ipod nanos do not work directly plugged in to the usb port
I haven’t seen an iPod nano in so long
I want to trade in my 2022 Accord Sport 2.0T for the new Civic Touring. The Accord is just too big for me and my family. Plus i live in Cali so gas is not cheap.
Definitely will lose power and space but can’t go wrong with a touring Accord
How much u paid for it total
All together it was about $30,882
I been wanting a Civic Touring and I have heard that they are fun to drive? I am between Civic and Corolla
Definitely way more fun to drive then the Corolla. But it will really come down to which vehicle is available. It’s hard to get any
You won't go wrong with either. The Civic is a larger car. I'm 6 ft and had trouble getting in the back of the Toyota.
This is why I love Toyotas last a lot longer
shoulda gotten a 2020 camry xse v6 same price way better car
Why would I buy a used car the same price as a new one with no miles ? Also the XSE has less features than the Touring Civic
