Hi I’m trying to become a game developer and a animator and I met you at the met up btw I love one and there one of my favorite characters and I made a edit of them I love them but thanks for making good content and being nice at the met up and giving me your autograph
I’m with you 100%. I have a job, but it pays poorly despite being very high skilled. I have multiple college degrees, a lot of skills and experience….but I can’t get hired in a job that pays a living wage. This horrifies me as a husband and father who must provide for his family.
I got laid off from epic games this year. It hurts, watching your content is super relatable and it's helped me so much with how I've been feeling. Thank you Emily for all that you do!
It's crazy how similar your story matches my own, although we were in different fields. Thank you for this vulnerable and heart centered video. It's the least lonely I've felt since my lay off back in April.
Are companies nuts games take longer to make and offer no job security no matter hoe good you are whats going on How can a company complain it takes longer to make a game while loosely fire-ing devellopers insted of giving them stable longterm jobs
Big true. Employees cost the big wigs too much money, but they need the worker bees to make the games. If only CEOs weren't largely incompetent and out-of-touch. We need more people like Sven
On behalf of me being a gamer its an outrage yes life is getting more expencive but how devs are treated managed is stuped nuts if games take longer to make why not keep the devs imployed longer to finish make a good product and edleast if you can't pay much to a dev give them garrantee of imployment to honor their value thats being appreciated sadly i am not in charge and have no say in how they do bussiness
That's terrible! The animation industry also have it bad... as a animation student who is interested in game dev, this sucks lmao On a more positive note, I wanted to say that I was inspired by your Powerpoint video and made my own (very small) game in Powerpoint thanks to you, and now I'm thinking of creating an actual visual novel in Ren'Py 🥰
I didn't knew game industry got hit by layoffs so badly. I work as software engineer and especially in Europe we didn't experienced layoffs at least in a sense that large USA tech companies did.

I feel 😭 It's so hard to find a job that actually pays well. Hoping for the best in the future.

Damn, it really sucks to hear that. I hope you're able to find another role soon - you aren't alone in the unemployment struggle 😭

I'm really glad my video could help you, thank you!
At this point I'm planning on funding my passion (video game design) with a job i can actually keep.
That's what I was trying to do with a job in tech. It didn't go so well 😅
You joined yahoo?? They have games?? Now they don't want them anymore?! Im shocked i say

I had a gamedev job once :( in the good old days.
I've learned not to lean on companies for all of my money anymore. It's why I always look for alternative ways to make money.

Wow, that's amazing! Thank you so much

PlayStation was eating good
Its a damned real one ots dark days working in tech as a designer or otherwise. I have a job but live in constant fear of losing it at some point
Wasn't there a larger parent company over these publishers?
Yeah, it's hard for software developers out here. :( We'll keep doing the best we can...
Looking forward to your future videos!
Thank you!
Man. I might change career choices
So sad to see all these layoffs 😔
You got this Emily ❤
So loud.
