- Quick menu and button layout for the classic Olympus e300 DSLR Camera from 2004. Simple is best. Example photos at the end with Jerry.
The Olympus E-300 (Olympus Evolt E-300 in North America) is an 8-megapixel digital SLR manufactured by Olympus of Japan and based on the Four Thirds System from 2004. It was the second camera (after the Olympus E-1) to use the Four Thirds System, and the first intended for the consumer market.
The camera's appearance was unique, as it lacked the SLR pentaprism "hump". Instead, a Porro prism system was used; it fitted sideways within the camera, with a sideways-swinging mirror, and located the viewfinder eyepiece to the left (seen from behind) relative to the lens centerline. The body was largely of ABS plastic over a metal frame; the lens mount was metal, and there was a metal covered area on the left top of the camera. This area also contained the onboard flash, which popped up and forward at the touch of a button. The onboard flash popup mechanism is manual. In low light scenarios the flash will not pop up automatically but the photographer must press the button and pop it up before taking the photo.
The E-300 uses Olympus' patented Supersonic Wave Filter dust reduction system to shake dust from the sensor during startup and when requested by the user; this largely eliminates the problem of dust accumulation on the surface of the image sensor. The E-300 was replaced by the Olympus E-330, a similar model with live preview, in January 2006.

Great vid. Just picked up a 300 and a 510. Pairing with a Oly 11-22mm.
Cool setup. Thanks for that comment. Appreciate people loving these great old cameras
Wow, it even has a Jerry screen saver! So ahead of its time!
Lol.. yes Jerry 1.5 firmware update
Sound is much better!
Haha.. thanks 😜 tried the rode mic on the camera closer to mouth and less compression with no floor raised.. little bit reverb due to the large room.. haha I'm getting carried away..
A twenty-year old camera that even managed a tippy-tail - what more do you want!
Nice one Roberto, I agree that basic is good. Technology has certainly moved on.
Keep plugging away, those extra subscribers will come - and if they don't, it's their loss.
menu walkthrough might be a little too late.. 20 years late. I'm trying a new rode mic with better lighting.. lol RUclips studio.. what have I become lol
Somehow even you scrolling menu is still fun to watch. Maybe because I can't take you seriously. In good way, I mean! :)
haha.. i think the aussie accent does it... hard to keep a straight face when I sound like a Galah.. I was boring myself so I thought I'd throw in a few Jerry photos... LOL
Always nice to see you and Roberto. When you do the photo walk with this camera, can you please test image quality on iguanas and alligators? especially iguana headshots for passport photos. Speaking of simple menus, I got the Fuji X-T4 a couple of years ago and I have yet to dive into the menu, I set the iso, aperture and shutter speed without even having to turn the camera on, I love those analog dials. Be well, stay safe and I’m looking forward to the photo walk.
Nobody can beat the Enriqo Iguana specials, but I'll try to find some crocodiles 😆 the Fuji dials are the way to go. If only my eyesight was good. I need to learn how to wear a pair of glasses properly. Spot on. All we need is A, S and ISO
Brilliant stuff Roberto. And sorry, I can't subscribe twice...
Haha.. all good. Your company is enough. One day I'll crack the RUclips code 😆
@@robdido Since I watched the video I went out today to shoot with my E-300 (I use it quite often). I have always used only RAW, but set it this time to RAW+SHQ like you do. I must say in general the JPGs look very pleasing! What i noticed though is that there is a slight crop on the JPGs compared to the RAW files. Do you have the same?
@@Bigfarmer8no. Same size. I viewed both on workspace and didn't see any crop happen?
@@robdido OK, Thanks Roberto. Probably camera or firmware related then. Or software. I use only OM Workspace.
😊😊
Thanks Malachi. Great camera still today 👍
Tried upgrading the firmware yet?
Yes and it says that 1.0 is the latest
@@robdido Latest was 1.5, unfortunately Olympus dropped the support for this model. Love this camera but it has some quirks. I'm struggling with the VF to match focus on manual lenses. Looking forward to more of your videos.
@@nihielssoh. I wonder if I could maybe find 1.5 and update manually. I'll try to Google it. Thanks for the info
