Nishimoto has studied his game well, he stepped up his second set game plan at a faster pace. Record shows LZJ has trouble countering "speedy players" in the past tournaments. Fortunately, LZJ has been working on those weaknesses and forcing Nishimoto to make some errors that cost his game. In the third set, Nishimoto tries to go back to his first set game strategy. LZJ has got it covered with his "diesel engine" works best when it's all fired up. Good win but he may not be so lucky the next time around.
Australian Open 2024 is not a key target for top b'ton contenders in the world bcos aft Thai Master, Msian, Master, Indon Open, tis is 4th tournament in a row. LZJ plays bcos he wants to ensure his BWF 8th ranking isn't hyjacked by Ginting. Since Ginting, not in gd shape & decided to skip, LZJ is secured he retains 8th ranking. So rest of the tourney is more like training & keep his rhythm up. If he progresses to final (which i see quite likely), he shud overtake even Kunlavut who's currently 7th. So it's competing w/o risk of injury tat's the main priority in Australian Open 2024.

Nishimoto lost his game style in the 3rd match.. play calm and def.. this is how he makes him strong and defeats his opponent... Lee zj brings him into his own game

I feel his coach Wong TM who's one of the best MS coach in the world sure realise tat. H'ever, i think tat's oso partly due to his physique. If he can lose 2kg w/o losing his muscle strength, then I'm sure he can be more Swift-footed. It's like F1 race car can't be heavy to hv the speed.

In fact, no one similar his height will be as fast as shorter players. Even Axelsen is slower than the player you mentioned. Axelsen has more stability than LZJ tho.
LZJ is too big and heavy to compete against fast players. It will take a long time to try to improve his footwork. Also, his coach was hired just over a year ago to improve LZJ form and target the Olympics. So if you were the coach, what do you think you should do? The obvious and most logical thing to do is focus on improving his strengths, which is his attacks and defense, while finding ways to breakdown faster players. That's why LZJ always try to slow the game down by playing clears, and now does many attacking variation to keep his opponents guessing.
