    The pioneer of modern street skateboarding. Its amazing to me that Mark continues to attack the streets in ways no one else ever thinks of and he's been skating since 1983. He's unbelievably creative. Everytime i watch his skating, it helps me look at things differently.

    Thank you! Finally someone else who gets it! I just yesterday picked up my first pair of his shoes (I got the Rayado Lows) and they perfectly embody his style. they're funny looking, but still stylish, and on top of that, they're just fun. tons of boardfeel and basically no support. I'm not doing any tres down stairsets in these things. boneless, ollie impossible, 540 flips, salabanzi flips, no complies... anything. go have fun kiddies. skating is for stress relief. nothing else.

  • @deo.strengthspan.project
    @deo.strengthspan.project 14 лет назад

    Indeed. In a way he doesn't have anything to prove to anyone anymore.
    I think people who comment badly on him don't know or haven't seen what Mark has done in his younger days. Grinding all sorts of kinked curvy rails and whatnot.
    Honestly, he's an older man now, and I think it's so admirable that he is still doing it.
    It's like talking crap about Jackie Chan because he isn't doing his huge stunts anymore. He's an older guy now who has accomplished much in his youth.

    this is for all the people who might be confused by the gonz. gonz is a legend, in his prime he was doing some gnarly shit. today not so much, but because of what he has acheived, and the respect he has within the industry and with all other big name skaters, he still has his pro title. it will never go away. gonz will be pro til the day he dies because he is a legend. same goes for any other older skater still around (lance mountain, rodney mullen, john cardiel even)

    @kakemonsteret112 13 лет назад

    @Rufusdos slides and grinds are defined by how you approach them. hence, back against the ledge means backside.. rotations are different.. backside is when you are facing backwards in your first rotation and frontside is when you are facing forward in your first (180) rotation.. however, keep in mind that when you ride fakie, these remain unchanged even though you are going backwards, because you have your "original stance" so in in a fakie frontside 180 you'll look backwards in the rotation..

  • @deo.strengthspan.project
    @deo.strengthspan.project 14 лет назад

    @Padders25
    Gotta agree, tricks only go so far.
    It's like breakdancing. You can see a dude do the most difficult combinations of moves, flares to windmills to airflares to one handed air freeze, windmill, to 1990. But that gets old pretty quick. It's way more fun to watch if the dude moves and grooves to the music and actually dances.
    Same thing with skating. Doing the hardest, most difficult trick only goes so far. Sometimes its just way more fun to watch a guy have fun on his board.

  • @Absjfirnsjd
    @Absjfirnsjd 13 лет назад

    @CaptSwagger okay ill explain it, back side is when your in the middle of rotation ie 90' or 270' your back is facing the direction your going and vice versa for frontside. like a fs 180 in the middle of your rotation your front would be facing foward. shove its are just based on 180s but with out your body rotating.
    nollie bs 180, in the middle of your trick, you would be facing backwards to the direction you are going. hope that helps a bit. once youve skated for a while youll understand.

    @bobandtheevilturnips Read about him. For just starters, he practically invented street skating. He and Natas Kaupas (you probably don't know him either) were the first to do handrails on a skateboard. His part in Blind's "Video days" from 1991 still stands today as one of the best and most stylish parts in any video in skateboardings history. Allot of pro skaters over the years have listed him as influental or a favorite of thiers. He has an eccentric personality and unique skate style.

    @Rufusdos yeah i made a mistake about that 270 thing, it only matters where you are facing when you are 90 degrees.
    as for grinds, and "railslides" which i think you mean boardslides?
    it only matters where the rail is before you pop, so if you pop it and the rail is behind you its bs and vice versa for fs.
    dont ask me why, thats just how it is.

    @eSHkidd Style doesn't mean spread eagle with your hands in your pockets, 8 bolt landing and a hunchback, it's about flow and individuality. Them guys are sick, and deserve their time in the limelight, but in 10yrs they will have faded. Remember Ronnie Bertino? Brian Emmers? Gabriel Rodriguez? Thought not; dope skaters in their era, but not all time legends. Gonz has been one of the most stylish and innovative skaters for more than 25yrs, and in he'll still be ripping in 2020.
