Great Video! Your videos definitely inspired my videos. I love that Cx12!!! My fav new mic. I have a new one coming comparing the Warm CX12, WA47, WA8000, Telefunken TF51, Townsend Labs and more
Love your content bro! The quality of your videos are top tier as well. I’m interested to watch the journey of your channel. I think it’s going to blow up with strategic content and more energy from you as the host! I would love to see you post about your vocal chains, VST instruments and plugins, and your creative process in producing. You’re gifted in those areas as well. Rooting for you bro! Let’s go 🔥💪🏾
Definitely grateful for the insight! Was watching a video today and took some critical notes. The post suggestion is dope and has been listed on my notes for the future! Thanks for the support and necessary feedback
Something I noticed instantly was that the CX12 sounded much more full in the low mids compared to the emulation mics. Not necessarily a good or bad thing, just personal preference. And this is coming from both your video and my own personal experience. I use to use the Edge Duo but I have left that system because it wasn't a sound I was fully satisfied with personally, and unfortunately after only 2 1/2 years of use, the line outputs on the back of my interface started going out and the backside capsule of the Duo also went out which had me questioning the quality of the product. But that's just my personal experience. I'm sure others have had better experience with their products. Great vid as always man! I love the lighting btw!
I definitely hate to hear that about your Antelope experience man. But not everything works for everybody honestly and I respect it. I can say they’ve been good to me. I’ve had my Orion studio since 2019 so far so good and the gen 1 zentour since 2018. Both are still solid. The conversion and I/O count sold me. But I’d feel uneasy in the experience you’ve mentioned. All and all, I’m glad you’ve found something that works for you! Warm Audio gets a lot of flack but this cx12 is a good sounding mic regardless of the brand, price and the fact that it’s a clone. Independently, it can achieve what’s needed and with a solid front end chain and complementary source, it can occupy the space of a goto mic.
I think they all sound good in your examples. My least favourite was the Slate though, I know that they have tweaked it a bit since the release but it still has some of that unpleasentness in the high end. Perhaps I'm looking too hard for it though. But I remember having to fight it quite a lot when doing heavy processing on it. I'm not really a fan of modelling mics as it stands right now. I prefer not to keep too many choices open. If there was one with built in processing that I could use just like a regular mic I would probably be interested in it.
Very nice song and well made content! In your opinion what’s the better choice (for a tenor leggero), Warm audio cx12 or Neumann tlm 103? I’m looking for a pure and warm sound
Thanks for checking out the video and commenting! I’d honestly prefer the cx12 over the 103. Much more balanced tone, multiple polar patterns, and a tube saturation. Do you have an outboard chain to accompany your mics?
