Indiana learning to read through the years

- Joey was reading to Indy in her tummy before she was even born. And not long after, she was on her mama's lap turning pages as Joey read. Indy started learning sign language before she was one, and picked it up quickly. She was talking in her two's, and by the time she was three or four, learning to sight read a few words. By five and six, she was sounding words out and actually reading from a series of little Bob books that Ms Rebecca at the schoolhouse had given us. Soon after came Dick & Jane, then the Little House books and on and on.
The last few days as I've been thinking about this post, I took a video walk down memory lane and put together a small glimpse of Indy learning to read through the years..

Joey is the first person who I never met, that I cried over and mourned about. Such a great lady! She is stilll an inspiration to me, even from the grave. She would be so proud! I remember when she wanted, so badly, to raise her baby. Even writing this brings tears to my eyes. She held on to the very end, and I can’t wait to ask God….”why?” I trust there is a good reason, it’s just so heartbreaking, even this many years later. Rory, it looks like you have done a wonderful job with this gift from heaven. ♥️♥️ love you both!

Indiana is a "normal" child because she has always been treated like one. Her family has done everything possible to give her a "normal" life and it shows.
What a beautiful video about a beautiful young lady. She sure is gifted with such an ability to read!! Starting so young at it also. She is surrounded by such loving family members and friends which is lovely. Thank you, Rory. for putting together this wonderful movie!!!

Thank you Rory. Watching Indi progress with her reading reminded me of my own three learning to read. How does a child go from letter recognition to putting letters into words. Then words into sentences. And then be able to make sense out of what they are reading. I have no idea how this happens. It is a profound mystery. Thank you Indi for taking us on your journey of learning to comprehend text on a page.
