My favourite three are 1.German Infantry Officer, 2. British Paratroop Officer, 3. British Infantry Support Officer . Having said that they are all really cool.

OMG. all my life I had no idea until today. loool thankyou Toysoldiernostalgia for educating me. That pose certainly isnt my favourite. Well done on this excellent video. Seeing all the dates at the end, I have to ask - Can I really this old now? These were all a major part of growing up, and so good to see again. Thank you.
My all time favourite Officers you both showed near to last: the Italian and the British Officers! The Italian Officer definitely look serious, about Shooting someone!

My top three keeps changing. At the moment it's: 3. German Paratrooper, 2. Africa Korps and at 1. British Paratrooper. The German infantry officer was my childhood favourite but now as a collector and painter of the soldiers, I appreciate the details on my top three.
Fun video comparison! I didn't have any of the post-1972 sets, but my faves as a kid were the German Infantry officer -- just a dynamic pose there -- and the American officer -- very heroic action pose.. I also loved pairing off the Japanese and the Australian officers for a "swordfight" LOL. Always thought the British 8th Army officer looked silly, but looking at it again after 50 years, it's a really nice, dynamic sculpt.
I think as a kid I would have put the Australian officer high on my list. I think one problem with the 8th army officer was the one foot on the base plate and soft plastic. He always seem to lean more forward then the sculpt should actually be.
The original Parachute Regiment officer is timing the moment to the drop, in case the green light malfunctions. I believe this was the first brown box to arrive at the toyshop in 1969 [me aged 6], five shillings & elevenpence. I worked out that a similar number of figures today [two boxes] cost 40 times more in pounds sterling. One pound then would have the buying power of £15 today. Later on, the shopkeeper told me there had been a major collation & moulding problem at Airfix, concerning the standing man pointing his weapon upwards. The Gurkha officer has a character of his own. The US Army officer has an excellent pose, and the 1911A1. Third place is hard. I'd say the Italian officer, if only his Berretta is James Bond's preferred make. Check out 'Lion of the Desert', Oliver Reed's favourite film. This was the first war in which aircraft were used, beating Mexico by a few months.
It's really weird that the WW2 1/32 scale set Airfix SHOULD have started with - The British Infantry - didn't appear until the end. By the early 1980s I had stopped buying these sets, so I missed out on the British and Italian Infantry although I did have both sets in 1/72 scale. A couple of years ago I finally bought the British Infantry set. Maybe one day I'll get my hands on the Italians...
1. German Infantry 2. US Paratroops 3. Italian Infantry Probably just rooted in nostalgia, my intellectualization of the choice is that they all hit-the-spot in displaying the iconic characteristics and archetypes of their respective forces best. There is no mistaking who they are or what they are. But I like all of them, really. Maybe not the Gebirgsjägeroffizier with that ridiculous pointing finger. And I also do not much like how the slouch hats of the aussies are modeled, the worst example being the officers hat. Looks more like a boonie hat than a slouch hat.
1. The ones I didn't have 2. The ones I lost right the first time I played with them in the sandbox 3. The combat Action poses; better than the pointing ones or those Holding or using glasse. That is 1. US Para 2. German Infantry 3. US Infantry
So wich do I think is the coolest? Thats a really difficult question but I think you are right about the british para officer as number 1... Maybe I can also agree on you about the german infantry officer, but then it gets really tricky... Thanks for your channel.
Don’t forget there were two types of US infantry officer, although I preferred the earlier version and still have my original from 1971! I also still have my original Australian officer, although I converted him into Indiana Jones in 1981, replacing his machete with a bullwhip. Overall, my favourite is the British para, but then again it was my favourite set.
The earlier releases seem a bit sharper with less prominent mould lines. Your lighting seems to hide the shiny/glossy finish, or do you dull coat them? Could you do a short on your lighting set up?
I gave them a coat of matt varnish. Otherwise, like you say, you get a bit of plastic glare. I use a regular light box with two strips of LED lights. There´s about a million of them out there on the interweb.
Really the British Commando Officer? I`m kind of surprised by that pick. I`d go 1) German Inf. 2) American Inf. 3) Australian Inf. .. I`m not crazy on Officer poses that are pointing at something
