Fun fact, you can hear atleast a very tiny portion of Gaster's Theme in EVERY song. My theory is that he's been spread across time and space slowly morphing onto everyone still leaving his own form of mark. His mark being a portion of his song.

+Mystical Magic Well, Undertale is a game full of connections and different possible lore. I mean, it has a track for Sans that it never uses. The tune for Spider Dance is the same for Mad Dummy and Pathetic House for some reason. And certain ominous tracks can be linked back to the original fight music and even Flowey's theme.
Coincidence or not, you can't deny the similarities. And with stuff like that, people on or off the Internet love to speculate.

Musical motifs. Toby Fox has a certain style to his music writing, just as with any composer, and it seems he is very fond of three-note arpeggios. I think it adds to how progressive the soundtrack can be, with callbacks to other songs. I highly doubt this one in particular was intentional. Then again who knows.

Gasters the was probably intentionally made using those four notes, so it could be put in every song. He really wanted to hit hard wirh the eerie feeling hes everywhere, even when ee only truly see him once and very rarely
I saw a theory where the w.d. In gasters name means "white dog" instead of wingdings, and that gaster is somehow the annoying dog, but it kinda makes sense because gasters followers say that he made the core. Toby fox most likely made the core when he was making the game. The followers also said that that he fell into his creation, and that's true, because Toby fox created the game, and he "fell" into the game as the annoying dog. Let me know what you guys think about this

I had a theory once. In which Gaster was "theorically" both Sans and Papyrus, like, at the beginning, they were just one entity. But, then, through some experiments, he splitted himself in two, like yin and yang : the younger, Papyrus, innocent, and unaware of this, and the older, Sans, who remembers everything.
The fact is, it happened in only one timeline. Just imagine, if things were different in another one. That W.D. Gaster simply disappeared. But isn't dead. He's ... Outside the box. Outside the game. Watching. Just like you do. And the only way to reach him, to get him back, is to use the machine Sans has been working on.
PS : Remember what Snowden people said : Sans and Papyrus just showed up one day.

Meh, I like the theory that he either had two children, or did some soul splitting experiments of one of the souls. Sans was gasters lab assistant, badge, three smiling people, card, and macine, and that bunch of people you don't know about, those are gasters frends and family. And how could it be that theory's? I'm debunking it, even though it already has. "Three smiling people" means all of them existed at the same time, so how could he get split into pap and sans? Sans probably just also saw the timelines where gaster lived and died, whilst gaster probably only saw himself living, causing a freak accident with the core, rendering him soulless, stuck between reality and the void, and covered in black. Three smiling people drawing also probably means sans and pap where motherless, unless she wasn't there, and there is another good font name. Gothic timeless or whatever it was called maybe. So yeah! Your theory is invalid!
Yeah the fact that Gaster exists outside the gane, just like you makes a lot of sense, mostly because you need to alter the game files to find him, so its like he is in the game but his outside it at the same time.
Wich isn't surprising, considering how 4th wall breaking the game is.
I actually have the theory that's sort of the opposite of that. That Gaster was originally two monsters, Webding and Aster. After... something, they ended up both being scattered and fused across the universe. This could possibly explain how there seems to be two figures that could be Gaster (the mysteryman and the [REDACTED] creature), who the two smiling people in Sans' drawing were(other than Sans), and the skeletons that became Gaster could possibly be parents of the bone brothers. My reasoning behind the theory was that of the font skeletons we've seen, all of them only use one font, but Gaster seems to use two.

This one is actually easier to hear than for the "song that might play when you fight sans".
I do love how Toby matched up the songs, some would call it lazy but he made each song unique enough that you can't simply call it copied.

i love how Toby connected all the music in Undertale, this is really interesting i think it may mean something. i always did think that both Sans and Papyrus are in some way connected to Gaster. the popular theory out there is that Gaster is their father, i like this theory but we really dont know. but nice find here it is interesting! :)

I think its really a matter of similar species of monsters having similar themes. Skeletons have those signature four notes, the goat parents have their little riff as well as the ghosts with their own.
That being said, you should try to find that pattern in Megalovania.

“Your Best Friend” and “Tem Shop” have the same baseline.
I think saying they both have arpeggios is really a stretch, arpeggiated chords is just one of the most common techniques in music writing and can be found in a whole bunch of Undertale's soundtrack.

In the STMPWYFS we hear Nyeh heh heh, wich means that Papyrus is important to Sans. We hear Gaster's theme too, so they may have a connection.
In Nyeh heh heh we kinda hear Gaster's theme, but it's way harder to hear than in STMPWYFS. Knowing that Papyrus is one on the two characters that have what I call "reset flashbacks" (when a character seems to know who you are, but they have no memory of your meeting), it is possible that, if our mystery man knew Papyrus, he remembers Gaster on a flashback way, not like an actual memory. Y 'know, when you are sure that the situation you're living has happened before but you also know that it is 100% impossible so you assume that it's a deja-vu.
I'm not sure about STMPWYFS, but I think Nyeh Heh Heh! is spot on, when it started playing I noticed Gastet's Theme immediately.

This is a far stretch. Not even the same notes or intervals. You can't just point out any melody that has an "A-B-C-B" pattern and say that it's Gaster's theme. It's too general of a concept to be nitty-picky about. If you found a theme that actually had the same melody hidden in it somehow, somewhere, THEN we'd have something interesting!

This is ridiculously far fetched.
Were you to write down the correct notes, the composition would be vastly different, not only in pitch, but also the succession relative to each note.
This is also implying that these notes have connections eventhough you took the chords (every 2th section of notes) from the Nyeh heh he' theme, while using the lone notes in the Gaster's theme. By doing so, almost any song could make connections with another, because of how easy that is to find.
Also, the "low, mid, high" melodies are among the most simplistic ways to compose any form of chords in any melody and are far too common to conclude nothing but coincedences.
...well sheesh, sorry, im just trying to add some proof to the community to judge

You are right, gasters theme is in the song. I converted nyeh heh heh to midi and played it, heard gasters theme and edited it so I could hear it more clearly.
Also if you get teleporting sound effect from Gastro then reversing, slowing it down ,and looping it is also Gasters theme
