I got DQ'd from a high school meet when my teammate and I crossed with arms raised holding hands in celebration. We were both disqualified for assisting another runner. Be careful boys.

Track officials are known for loving their power.

Years ago while in JC x country meets, two other teammates and I used to hold hands while crossing the line.Weren’t DQ’s but only did that at the local no threat meets. I wonder how many of these “ officials” can actually run a decent 400/800- probably Zero. They’re totally out of shape…

I did that with another teammate in a HS 2-mile race so we could split the point evenly instead of first/second. Three team league meet. We were ahead of the 3rd place finisher by a good 30 yards at the time. Nothing happened to us.

@@brockroberts4258 My bro and I (both retired) looked into becoming T&F officials. We would have had to invest about $1500 to get into it (training classes, uniforms, background checks, stuff), then shell out a few $100 more each year. Nope. No wonder they don't have enough officials here in Southern California. If a few guys came across with arms together we wouldn't penalize them as long as they didn't interfere with anyone else. Gotta keep it real and fun.

Maybe he can pull a 'Dave Wottle' if he qualifies, run the 800m just for the workout and end up winning it? New PR of 1:43 so the others have to take his potential as an 800m racer seriously.

He could run the 800. The 1st round of the 800 is 13 hours after the 1500 final, plenty of rest for a 21 year old :)
One question is does Hobbs after running the 1500 have a better chance of medalling in the 800 than, e.g., Abe Alvarado?
