Irrfan: Like All Great Actors, He Did Not Need A Great Movie To Be Great In - Baradwaj Rangan writes about Irrfan www.filmcompanion.in/Irrfan-Khan-death-53-obituary-like-all-great-actors-he-did-not-need-a-great-movie-to-be-great-in-bollywood-baradwaj-rangan/
It's quite strange that I never met him personally not interacted with him anytime nor seen him anywhere yet I'm affected by his demise. It's some connection which most of us might feel...
I wish that he could act one more movie. Actors like him don't have fans they have students who learn from his acting. The fact that he won't be acting anymore makes me cry. RIP master💔
Never ever...ever thought that something like this will happen. Irrfan's work will inspire generations to come. We lost a gem of person and a human being.
Never have I felt this kind of pain on any actor's demise as I feel for Irrfan Khan's. He was not just unquestionably my favourite actor, he was a MAGICIAN when he came on screen, big or small. Just day before yesterday, I had searched for and watched him in his promotion for one of his films in The Kapil Sharma Show. He mesmerized me. As an actor myself who constantly strives to go closer to being as natural yet as interesting as possible, I always looked upto him with awe. Even if he just stood in front of the camera, you found it so intriguing that you couldn't take your eyes off him. That's not an actor. That's a magician. We've lost that magic from our lives forever! Can't even imagine what his family must be going through. May your family get the strength to bear this loss. Irrfan bhai, much love to you. Your last words "I trust, I've surrendered" sums up the qualities of true courage yet true surrender, whose personification you always were. Khuda aapka khayal rakhkhe bhaijaan. Iss jahan mein na sahi, uss jahaan mein zaroor milenge ek din. Inshaallah!
This is beyond heartbreaking. Absolutely unbelievable. This wasn't the time. This absolutely wasn't the time. India & Bollywood just lost one of its favourite son & actor. Still in shock !!!!! R.I.P. #IrrfanKhan 😢🙏
I was waiting, thinking India is changing, that one day Irfan Khan will receive the deserved recognition. That one day he will become more popular than Salman Khan. That day never came.
Honestly I can’t believe it. I mean I can’t believe that we won’t see him in front of the camera portraying another character. I always believed that he’ll win the battle and come back to us. The part where he asked for us to wait for him in the promotional video of his last film just hurts so much now. But as the say legends never die.
I never thought an actor loss will affect me so deeply. It's only because I and we all feel he is gone with lot of things unfinished. His thoughts his work and his persona needed to be explored more. We all have to live and cherish with whatever he has left for us. A legend, generation over generation will feel your presence for very long time, a massive loss in preforming art. #RIPirrfan
I don't really cry and in fact I can't remember the last time I cried. But today I cried. I don't know the man personally, I never met him.. But there's just something that is different today. There is a void. And it can never be filled ever again.

What a legend. And he knew he was. All of India mourns you today, Khan Saab. Rest in Peace. We'll all live to tell our children that we were lucky enough to breathe in the same air as you.

Sanjhang Subba am his biggest fan from Pakistan .. never missed any of his films but the way that guy was expressing his emotions like lost a frnd etc I found it lil too much .. there is no doubt we lost a legend and such a nice human being .. we all loved him so much but losing a frnd etc just weird for me .. hope now u understand
When an artist leaves his fans in tears after he's gone, it tells about how honest he was to his craft. Thats why they call it "winning hearts". RIP the legend !
Not only a great actor, but one of the kindest and most humble guys off-camera. A beautiful human was lost, and I pray for his family and loved ones. Rest in peace, man.

Just watch some of them and you will find-out what we have lost today...👆✨ Interesting facts about Irfan Khan : 1. 'The Warrior' is a 2001 film by British filmmaker Asif Kapadia. It stars Irrfan Khan as Lafcadia, a warrior in feudal Rajasthan who attempts to give up the sword. The film is in Hindi and was filmed in Rajasthan, India. The film is credited with convincing Irrfan Khan with not giving up his acting career. The Warrior was produced by companies from the UK, Germany and France. At the BAFTA Awards it won the Alexander Korda Award for Best British Film. It was also one of the films, short-listed for UK's official entry for the Academy Awards but was ultimately dropped on grounds that the language was not indigenous to Britain. Britain's official Oscar selection and eventual nominee was the Welsh-language film Solomon and Gaenor. 2. Irfan Khan was appointed as the brand ambassador for "Resurgent Rajasthan", a campaign by the state government of Rajasthan. He lent his voice to the light and sound show at the war memorial for the Indian army at Vidhan Sabha Road, Jaipur. This show portrays the valour and courage of the Rajasthani soldiers and their historic and modern triumphs in battle. 3. Domestically, he made his screen debut with the Academy Award nominated film Salaam Bombay! (1988). Followed by a series of roles in films that failed to propel his career forward, he received critical acclaim for playing negative roles in the drama films Haasil (2003) and Maqbool (2004), for the former he won the Filmfare Award for Best Villain. The successful drama Life in a... Metro (2007) marked a turning point in Khan's career, earning him praise and several awards including the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor. He rose to prominence with his portrayal of Paan Singh Tomar in the acclaimed biographical sports drama Paan Singh Tomar (2011), which garnered him the National Film Award for Best Actor and a Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor. His performance in the BAFTA Award nominated romance The Lunchbox (2013) earned him universal acclaim by the critics and audiences. Khan went on to feature in the commercially and critically successful films Haider (2014), Gunday (2014), Piku (2015) and Talvar (2015). His highest-grossing Hindi release came with the critically acclaimed comedy-drama Hindi Medium (2017), which became a sleeper hit in India and China, which ranks among highest-grossing Indian films of all time and earned him praise for his performance, winning several awards including the Filmfare Award for Best Actor. 4. No Bed of Roses (Doob as the Bengali version) is a 2017 Bangladesh-India co-production drama film written and directed by Mostofa Sarwar Farooki. It was produced by Abdul Aziz, Himanshu Dhanuka and Irrfan Khan under the banner of Jaaz Multimedia and Eskay Movies along with Irrfan Khan Films. It stars Irrfan Khan, Nusrat Imrose Tisha, Rokeya Prachy and Parno Mittra. The story builds up around the members of two families discovering the finer fabric of love when the headman of a family dies. The theme is that death doesn't always take things away: Sometimes it gives back. It was selected as the Bangladeshi entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 91st Academy Awards, but it was not nominated. 5. He acted in numerous television serials throughout the 1990s, including Chanakya, Bharat Ek Khoj, Sara Jahan Hamara, Banegi Apni Baat, Chandrakanta, Shrikant, AnooGoonj on Doordarshan, Star Bestsellers (Star Plus), Sparsh and The Great Maratha on DD National. 6. Tokyo Trial is a Japanese four-part historical drama miniseries that depicts the International Military Tribunal for the Far East. In the wake of World War II, 11 Allied judges weigh the fates of Japanese war criminals. The four episodes chart the progress of judges heated debates as they decide the fate of the accused. Irrfan Khan makes an appearance as Justice Radhabinod Pal. Playing a contrarian, unafraid to challenge the popular opinion in the room, his performance is equal parts serene and tenacious. Tokyo Trial’s best moments come when Irrfan is pitted against the ensemble, forcing them to rise up to the occasion in the process. Available on Netflix. I will always admire him, may his soul rest in peace...😔🌷🙏✨ Atleast this is the last think I can offer for him and his family, they will be devastated because they have lost a mother and a son in just within a span of one week...RIP to his mother and Irrfan Khan...😔🌷
Gokul Nair this is amazing Gokul :’). The spell he has created with his work will linger around for generations to come. There is another movie of his, called puzzle. Released overseas in 2018.. haven’t watched it yet though.
@@94905 Thanks for the comment Damini and I really appreciate your effort, it did help. I have now added that to the list and I didn't watch this movie either. The synopsis of this movie looks interesting - The life of a 40-year-old woman completely changes when she discovers her passion to solve jigsaw puzzles which takes her to New York to compete in a big tournament. Please watch the movie as soon as possible and I will watch it, but have to find an OTT platform that has that movie. Once again thanks for the comment and I got a recommendation too. 👍✨
I’ve watched his interviews so intently, absorbing n processing each word n sentences, like listening to a Master. So much wisdom, grace, truth, humility. Khudaa aapki rooh ki shanti de. RIP, Sir.
It feels like I lost someone I truly loved - it feels like such a personal loss....I feel the industry took his talent for granted as well. If only they knew how little time he had...he had SO MUCH more to give. I am absolutely shattered by his death, just cannot stop crying.
From a foreign audience member of Indian cinema. The news of Irrfan’s passing was shocking. Such a talent that will never be replaced or duplicated. #Godblesshim
What could be the best way of remembering him? It surely would mean gaining from his life the invaluable lessons of perseverance and kindness!! We miss you Irrfan sir!
Never met him, never talk to him but when I had heard the demise of this great actor from mother at the evening, I was so astonished and shocked that I could not believe my own ear and mom's voice....I have told my mom, you have just confused with someone else, and after that I have shown the news...At the very time my eyes just full up tears. I have asked myself why!!! He is not from my known relatives or my close one, still I am not beleving myself that he is no more...I think this is the only power of great acting and great human being...People will remember him only by closing their eyes and remember his great laughing sense...

Still can't believe we are now in a world where Irrfan Khan doesn't exist. The news broke my heart completely. Eyes becoming moist every few minutes. So much lost possibilities. All I can think of is the body of work he could have had and what the world lost. Dil mein rahenge Khan Saab, hamesha....
The only genuine crossover actor of India , it is amazing how many hearts Irrfan Khan has touched with his stellar acting & versatility. He is much respected by his fans and co-actors alike. We get the feeling that he was snatched away too early when he had so much more to give. His passion for his craft was unquestionable. He belonged to the league of Balraj Sahni and Naseeruddin Shah who stood apart for their brilliant acting and for being complete family men with no controversies in their career in the tinsel world. RIP Irrfan Sir, thankyou for enriching our lives. Praying for strength to his beloved wife & sons...a friend of mine who interacted with Sutapa Sikdar many years back as a fellow-parent in the latter's younger son's school recalls that Sutapa was absolutely down to earth.
What an amazing actor who has left behind a great body of work. RIP Irrfan...your movies will continue to enthrall cinema lovers for generations to come...
Irfan Khan was not only a good actor but was also a great, great human being. Film company always inspired us to create new videos, in fact, we started reviewing Movies and web series just due to all the inspirations we get from Film Companion and Anupama Chopra. I met Irfaan Bhai once for a short while and he said only one line, " Beta Zindagi ko jabtak har pal andar se nahi jiya to kya khaak Zinda hain hum ". Dear Irfaan Bhai for us you always remain in our heart. Thanks To inspiring us always.
Irrfan khan... I am speechless, Wonderful interview by Anupama Chopra. I also saw you tribute video and subscribe your video, your editing is very good but needs to create content like Film companion. But being a new channel its good and I like it, hope you will continue doing good work.
@@NikhilPverma Thanks for watching our videos, ya we are trying to improve our self and Anupama mam always inspired us every single day. her elegance, her wit and her grace everything inspires us. we are trying to create good contents as per our capabilities, even we don't have a mic, we are recording our VO on phone ( 1phone 6s) with a headphone . for the voice quality, we are trying to record it 4:00Am morning. but thanks a lot everyone.

classic atypical mind. Much love and respect to you Irrfan. I grew up watching you, not knowing you. Still wanting to know you. Just because of how your persona oozed beyond the screen and into my being. Watching you felt like being there. Always. Your smile always felt like a secret that you were sharing with the audience. Your charisma and presence was so powerful that it could seep through the fourth wall without breaking it. I have lost a friend I never had and always did and always will. Your life and death epitomize how Frost summed up life in three words: it goes on.
Can't believe he passed away. His talent...what a loss. May Allah give him a high place in jannah ameen. He suffered alot. God bless him. He will be sorely missed. Soo missed.
I'm feeling sad, I was really hoping and praying he will make it out. When I heard about his mother's demise few days before I thought it might be a shock for him and he might suffer from setback. But did not really expect it, when English Medium came out I was happy he was back. RIP Legend from a mauritian fan ❤

The unique thing is- most of the people are feeling its like some personal loss to them. We never felt like this for an actor's demise before. Because we haven't had enough of him. Indian film industry didn't do justice with his talent. RIP legend.
I love the way he speaks. There is depth in his words. I used to watch him on star bestseller when I was kid in which he played the character of "Desi jallad". Today, he's not around but that character was so stuck in my mind that I still call him by that name (Desi jallad) to this day.

I felt like crying when I heard about the news. I don't know why but I feel like I had a connection to him even though I've never met him.. he's an actor who has had a big impact on my life. I still remember the day when my parents took me to the theatre to watch life of pi when I was 6, it blew my mind and was left awe struck. perhaps it is these childhood memories that i cherish now that give me these feelings. RIP sir you were one of the truly best in Bollywood and even Hollywood, every small role you'd get there you'd play it so beautifully. I am sad that such a talent left us so early..........never thought that his condition was this worse that he would leave us this early & create a void that nobody else could fill...........i still can't accept that he is no more.........
Crying silently and mourning so badly, I didnt know not only me a lot a lot a whole lot would be feeling the same emotions the same loss the same void, no personal connections and yet it feels someone very very dear to me has just like evaporated in a blink of an eye! The pain- its there.. but seeing so many of us are in it together shows all the love he garnered from us. How deeply one touches other life is how rich one's life is! He did what he intended.. and he is done it again too damn well!❤💔
He was a pure gem to the acting industry. He may not be everyone's favorite but he is definitely one person whom no one can hate. You will be missed. RIP Sir
Why is it that we didn’t know this man personally but his truth speaks today to all of us & there is a sadness that lingers among us feeling the pain , the loss on his demise . Isn’t that a remarkable human life . He never cared for glory & accolades or popularity, he just touched our hearts with the art & craft he had in him & he gave it all ,with all his honesty . This quiet power to just be true to ourselves will inspire us forever . RIP legendary Irfan Khan 😇🙏🏼
I am seeing all these interviews and posts about him and it doesn’t even feel like he is gone forever, he really has the power to connect with the audience just through the screen so magically, RIP😭❤️

Watched the movie Angrezi Medium, which I was planning to watch anyway, but today it became a special moment . Became a tribute to the legend. Gave me the laughter he promised in his last audio for the audience, but also made me miss my long gone father, with the story of the movie, and his acting. Great job Sir. Last job well done. Always have been a fan. And will always be forever. In the world full of Heroes we lost an Actor today. Rest in Peace, Irrfan Sir.
Artist lyk #irfankhan has no end they will be always there in cinema till the day cinema dies he will be alive with us through his characters he hv done
#RIPIrrfanKhan The intensity , nuances and inherent realism of any particular character was brought out by Irrfan Khan like none other. His roles are Artistically self-conscious and brilliant craftsmanship. The Audience could so easily relate to his various roles. India has lost one of the Greatest Actors of Indian Cinema.
I feel for this person, rip boss few people like you get this love irrespective of stardom or how many films u have featured. U r a inspiration for many acting aspirants. Much love and respect sir.

"If you decide who plays a hero by how he looks, you need to redefine heroism." - Irrfan Khan
It's still baffles me that now we have to use 'was' for mentioning him instead of 'is'...I hope he is in a better place...😥✨

Interesting facts about Irfan Khan :

The only genuine crossover actor of India , it is amazing how many hearts Irrfan Khan has touched with his stellar acting & versatility. He is much respected by his fans and co-actors alike. We get the feeling that he was snatched away too early when he had so much more to give. His passion for his craft was unquestionable. classic atypical mind. Crying silently and mourning so badly, I didnt know not only me a lot a lot a whole lot would be feeling the same emotions the same loss the same void, no personal connections and yet it feels someone very very dear to me has just like evaporated in a blink of an eye!
