Totally agree with you when you said be careful when comparing discs. Taking them out to a course and throwing them multiple times (and probably multiple days) is the best way to figure out the best fit.
I recommend to take those to an open area. No trees to hit and no "stress" about hitting fairway and so on. If there are no open areas available, then to a course.
@@kimmomatikainen1843 i used to be in this camp, but i have found that i can make a more honest assessment testing them the way Trevor is in real round scenarios. In a field, reading its flight is harder because of the lacking landmarks
I had to take an old run of flat top teebird and a money leopard3 w/ a huk stamp out of the bag because they were that merlot color. so hard to find in the woods. they were such good discs too.
I replaced my original San Marino Roc about 18 months ago with one I found on eBay for $65. It was worth every penny. In the Wintertime Open last wknd, I threw it off the tee 15 times out of 54 holes, carding 7 birdies and an eagle. That disc is MONEY. I will cry if I lose it.
I grew really attached to a glow flex Buzzz last year, to the point that I tracked down 2 duplicates in a Facebook group when it started to turn too much. Then when glow season started back I tried a glow Pathfinder on a whim and decided I liked it more. 😂 Finding that perfect mid is like that sometimes.
You have to do whatever necessary to have back ups, but it does sting a bit when a stock, easy to find version of something turns out being a great replacement…
I was also pretty disappointed with the blomroos glow roc3. Thought it would fill a more over stable slot than my iron samurai 3 but it did not. Came straight out of the bag in the first round.
This experiment was thorough n well done and now you have a sick replacement and a sick backup to the replacement! Do you already have a flippy roc in the bag?
you probably should have switched up the order in which you were throwing the discs at some point to prevent the earlier ones from serving as reads for the later ones. that said, i think the merlot was the right choice so it all worked out in the end!
100% this! Not saying his throws were awful, but when you aren’t pleased with either your throws or the discs as true representations for your “shot”, don’t make a decision. He’s forcing these other already beaten-in Roc3s to do what his old one did, when he’ll have better luck trying other discs to get that same shot.
Respect man, most of our favorite RUclipsrs blame the disc when there is a bad shot. You had a bad round of throws and you took the blame. If you are not honest with yourself then you wont choose the correct disc in the end.
Ever try a Discmania Method? From my experience with the C Line one from the black mystery box they are possibly more overstable than any Roc3's I've tried before
I am surprised you just didn't try a new disc like the supreme Emac Truth so you don't have to hunt for the perfect roc 3 every time you need to replace one.
Forget the roc, go panther Trev! Such an underrated disc Beat in they flip perfect and brand new goes dead straight with a little fade You can crush them and it’ll hold Just aced with my old one I was about to retire
I threw my stock Champ ROC3 directly into a tree in honor of the retiring AB Roc3. Disc's are like disc golfers- they both get a lil' less stable with every throw.
I have a handful of Roc3 and a single KC Roc. I tried to find out more about them and always seem to come up short when i tried to find anyone comparing specific runs. Can anyone help me out? My oldest is a Roc3 i got new at Alchemist in VT back in 2016. I since picked up a used Sierra Nevada stamp Roc3, a used 1x McBeth and a new 2x McBeth, all of those in Champ. And i found a Champ Roc3. And I have w KC Pro Roc. I want to bag one but i never get the flight i expect out it. I think i round my arm whenever i use it and they all have a gentle fad that they rarely come out of.
nice video but maybe next time do a challenge all the foundation guys pick one out of the used bins (might take a while) then you choose which you like best and losers do a challenge or winner gets to sign the disc in your bag something like that
It's crazy to me that you take a disc that you know exactly what it does, and toss it because that's not the slot you're comfortable with or it's the slot it wasn't in before. That disc is a solved variable, might not be answering exactly the equation you thought it should, but it is a solved number. I'd be way better off if I knew exactly what I could do with all my discs, instead of what I wished all my discs did.
If all of those options fly similar, why make a decision when the only thing impacting their flights was your inconsistency throwing? Try a bunch of other mids
Doesn't sound like it would be stable enough for how he likes to release. Lizotle was stable enough but you don't want to have to track those down. Reactor tho....
I just wish watching the foundation stuff wasn't infuriating. Sometimes it's like you guys are trying to just shank every single drive. And it's been like this for like, 3 to 5 years?
There may or may not be a special roc coming your way in the mail bag……
Dang, you may or may not be a top G! ❤
Nicely done. You managed to film the inner dialogue that I think we all go through looking for a new disc.
👍 I figured you would pick the yellow one for visibility. And keep the red one for a back up.
Trevor quote of the year: "That's the hard thing about testing stuff when you suck. You don't learn a lot"
I felt this in my heart
Totally agree with you when you said be careful when comparing discs. Taking them out to a course and throwing them multiple times (and probably multiple days) is the best way to figure out the best fit.

Very excited merlot won love the color haha
i'm a clear guy but the merlot was nice ...maybe rough in the fall when leaves change color
I have an orange one if you want it. Still stable. I barely threw it
I had to take an old run of flat top teebird and a money leopard3 w/ a huk stamp out of the bag because they were that merlot color. so hard to find in the woods. they were such good discs too.
You should try a Westside Pine. Very straight mid for flat/slight anny releases.
Check out Gateway's Warrior (5,4,0,3), Prophecy (5,5,0,2) or AGL's Magnolia (5,5,0,2) all have similar flights but fly further.
I just left a comment listing four discs to fill this slot and Prophecy and Magnolia were two of them.
I've noticed throwing uphill wants to fade more and throwing downhill wants to flip and go right (backhand)
Great video!! I would have loved to see some discs that compare to the ROC. I would recommend the Mint Disc Mustang (apex plastic).
I replaced my original San Marino Roc about 18 months ago with one I found on eBay for $65. It was worth every penny. In the Wintertime Open last wknd, I threw it off the tee 15 times out of 54 holes, carding 7 birdies and an eagle. That disc is MONEY. I will cry if I lose it.
innova lion is slept onnnnnn give it a feel t money aka big trev aka bobby stauby
Hey Trevor. Just get a Halo Roc3. They beat in nicely, & they have the flight you're looking for. Especially for your committed arm speed....
I’d recommend the Wasp(Discraft), Ra(Infinite), Magnolia(AGL), or the Prophecy(Gateway). Seriously, all four are amazing Roc/Roc3 replacements!
The yellow one flies great and is easier to find
I grew really attached to a glow flex Buzzz last year, to the point that I tracked down 2 duplicates in a Facebook group when it started to turn too much. Then when glow season started back I tried a glow Pathfinder on a whim and decided I liked it more. 😂 Finding that perfect mid is like that sometimes.
Glow Pathfinder is MONEY. It kicked the Buzzz out of my bag so quickly and I never thought that would happen.
I grabbed a remix battleship for my roc 3 slot for glow rounds flys VERY nice and the glow on is is epic
This experiment was thorough n well done and now you have a sick replacement and a sick backup to the replacement!
Do you already have a flippy roc in the bag?
I throw the yellow x2, and love it! Mine would be a bit too stable for what you're looking for. Early video predictions: Merlot
Easy choice, gotta be the yellow one. Can't see the merlot disc well on the camera.
you probably should have switched up the order in which you were throwing the discs at some point to prevent the earlier ones from serving as reads for the later ones. that said, i think the merlot was the right choice so it all worked out in the end!
dye the AB Roc stamp on the Merlot Roc
You made the right choice
Wow what funny timing my favorite roc that ive been throwing for years also just officially crossed over into uselessly understable
cool video! i know you're sold on the Roc3 but you may find another disc (aside from roc3s) to fly just like your emotional attachment barela roc3
I know what it's like to love a mold, so never would I expect you to switch but really sounds like everything you're saying is a Prophecy flight
Just a thought from the content side, it can be hard to track the Merlot color disc.
Love the Merlot one. I wanted it to win I got worried on that last hole.
Have you thought maybe the roc3 isnt the disc for that throw? I wasnt blown away with those throws.
100% this! Not saying his throws were awful, but when you aren’t pleased with either your throws or the discs as true representations for your “shot”, don’t make a decision. He’s forcing these other already beaten-in Roc3s to do what his old one did, when he’ll have better luck trying other discs to get that same shot.
He's a content creator tho, and it'd be a bit of a disappointing end for a youtube video to just say that none of them are going in the bag.
@colinfrederick9033 or he can test out other disc's that are slightly more stable because he's a content creator
Respect man, most of our favorite RUclipsrs blame the disc when there is a bad shot. You had a bad round of throws and you took the blame. If you are not honest with yourself then you wont choose the correct disc in the end.

The Henna roc might not inspire you Trev, but you inspire me
you definitely made the right choice.
Forget the roc, go panther Trev!
Such an underrated disc
Beat in they flip perfect and brand new goes dead straight with a little fade
You can crush them and it’ll hold
Just aced with my old one I was about to retire
Hey Trevor, now that you're better at throwing those baby Hyzerflips, please try this Roc again
The best replacement for a roc, is a Buzzz...
I like that yellow one for you
Need to do a battle between your new roc and the ab one!
I have a pink 4x mcbeth roc3 that is fantastic if you wanna do a little disc swap! 😊
How about keep the AB for your flippy roc.. then compliment it..
More of these types of videos!!!!!
Let’s go I was rooting for the Merlot one 😂
We need to get a roc3 collection for Trevor to find the “ONE”😉😂
I have a orange one I would send him if he would like
20:49 I think your choosing the yellow one but you kinda like the red one more cause it’s clearly more forgiving
“I don’t think that’s closer to either of them” 😂😂😂
I threw my stock Champ ROC3 directly into a tree in honor of the retiring AB Roc3.
Disc's are like disc golfers- they both get a lil' less stable with every throw.
that was really fun!
glad the 2x was flying good for you, just not quite good enough 😂
Maybe with AB out of Trevor’s bag AB himself will finally have that true breakout season
That thumbnail is fire.
I have a handful of Roc3 and a single KC Roc. I tried to find out more about them and always seem to come up short when i tried to find anyone comparing specific runs. Can anyone help me out?

I was rooting for ol’ f2 Merlot, the stability is money
I've never actually thrown a Roc3, only a normal Roc. Guess it's just a more stable Roc like all of the other "3" discs I've thrown.
I feel like the 3 both turns and fades more than a regular Roc.
Wow you should put the wine label of chateau petrus on it the gratest merlot of them all!,
Where can I get a Merlot disc?
I need that disc! I have lower arm speed. How much?
Roc is so slept on
RIP AB
Was rooting for ole merlot the whole time 🤝
Slowing the throw down to .25 speed you smashed the disc with your hand I’ve never done or seen that either
nice video but maybe next time do a challenge all the foundation guys pick one out of the used bins (might take a while) then you choose which you like best and losers do a challenge or winner gets to sign the disc in your bag something like that
Wow...I have a 2x that I don't throw. Would have trade for the clear as I live clear discs...😢
Mistake, Yellow flies slightly better
Should have just went with both at the end.
Just throw a hyzer? Instead of throwing multiple discs on one angle, throw the same disc, on different angles.
I feel like yellow will win but I’d take that Merlot all day
Could you just put some more hyzer on it!!!
That's the right answer, he said in the video that he's not a good player and isn't willing to practice learning that shot.
Thought he was gonna throw it in the lake for a second there at the very beginning
For gods sake, get this man a pyro.
It's crazy to me that you take a disc that you know exactly what it does, and toss it because that's not the slot you're comfortable with or it's the slot it wasn't in before.

Fun
Just throw a hex you know you want too
Doesn't sound like it would be stable enough for how he likes to release. Lizotle was stable enough but you don't want to have to track those down. Reactor tho....
Yellow
Not goodbye forever.. Goodbye for now:) You might need a floppy disc when you are much older.. Or that could be your sons first disc:)
Team Merlot
Keep the yellow for when you lose merlo
This video shows what every disc golfer thinks trying to prove to themselves that all there discs are different
Blomroose or Wine
throw the lion!
Say it aint so!
Merlot
Take the Yellow one, can’t even see the other one on camera…
You really shouldn't blame the disc when you're the one making mistakes. You have to be able to say, that was a bad throw and doesn't count.
Just learn how to throw hyser flips bro or keep it as your flippy to straight mid
Just think how good your mid game could be if you threw a hex instead of a roc…
I just wish watching the foundation stuff wasn't infuriating. Sometimes it's like you guys are trying to just shank every single drive. And it's been like this for like, 3 to 5 years?
