  • If you use handmade pottery, it's easy to get dirty and you're worried about water leaks! In the old days, it was often handled by boiling with rice broth.
Since pottery is water-absorbent, mold and water often seep out, and it is remarkable to use sandy clay such as "Karatsu, Hagi, Shino" as the clay of the production area.
In such a case, water repellent treatment is applied to the finished container to prevent dirt and water leakage.
This should also relieve your stress!

Thank you kiraku先生 for this valuable tip. I have many problems with leaking 花瓶 and pickling 漬物pots. I want to try this! I found your comment at 7:00 very interesting, about not being able to "age" a pot... Maybe FlipCoat is not useful for 茶碗... 大変ありがとうございます from 岩手県。

      Thank you for your comment.
You understand the role of flip coat!
In Japanese ceramics, it is not suitable for bowls (it does not grow), so I use a flip coat when seeking practicality.

@@kiraku-pottery Yes. And I find that letting the pot grow or age gives us the sense of ものの哀れ that I love about Japanese culture. But I will use FlipCoat "when seeking practicality," as you suggest...

      Thank you for your comment.
      Thank you from Spain!
The product name in Japan is "Flip Coat".
It is a silicon product that combines with carbon dioxide in the air to form SiC O3.
I don't know if there is a similar product in Spain, but please look for it.

hello! I'm from Argentina and I looked for this liquid but I couldn't find it to buy it online, could you explain the traditional method using rice? Thank you very much for all the info you give us in your videos!!!💗💗

      Thank you for your comment.
The way to prevent stains with rice is to boil the pottery in rice broth.
Rice starch enters the gaps in the pottery and then makes it difficult for water to stain.
However, I think it will get dirty.
It doesn't have to be rice, as long as it is starch.

    こんにちは👋😃何時もお勉強させて頂いてます🙇
    そうなんです❗️唐津の土でビアカップ沢山造ったんですが、使ってるうちに中に小さなカビのような染みが付いてます、綺麗な泡が出るようにと、内側には釉薬つけてません、時々漂白剤で消毒してますが、やっぱり撥水剤付けないとダメですよね⁉️

    • @kiraku-pottery
      @kiraku-pottery  2 года назад

      コメントありがとうございます。
      すでに使っているモノに関しては撥水処理しなくても大丈夫です。(効果が期待出来ないです)
      出来上がった直後に撥水処理をすると効果を発揮します。
      陶器のビアマグは泡立ちが良くて美味しく飲めますよね!
