The reason why there are similitudes between Dune and Star Wars (and a lot of other Sci-Fi movies, series, books, games) is because Dune was their inspiration. Frank Herbert is one of the father of the Sci-Fi genre. Read the books and marvel, in view of the times, at the research, the work, the details, the depth he put into his series.
Im wondering if we are all jaded from years of horrible hollywood. I mean i love this movie, i think its awesome, but i wonder if the hype is just us being abused by hollywood for so long we are excited for something decent.
I questioned this as well, but I remembered I take my movies seriously and therefore I do believe it really is that good. You can notice all the love that went into this movie, no matter how one may view it. Rather just from a pure movie spectacle stand point, a book reader, a general nerd, or someone who just wants to watch a movie, it’s caters to all
No, it is not that good... The hype is totally exaggerated. part 1 is a complete masterpiece in the world of serious scifi, part 2 is inferior in absolutely every way, I absolutely don't understand how anyone can claim otherwise Part 1 has everything - absolutely perfect world building, character portrayal, diverse visuals - Planet of the Atreides, Harkonnens, Sardaukar. Arrakeen in detail. Part 2 has basically nothing apart from sand dunes, an arena and a sort of tea house in a garden. How can anyone say this is visually stunning/better than the first part? Nonsense. The first two thirds of the film are incredibly tedious and the stuff about how the messiah is artificial and how religion can control the masses is presented so repetitively it's annoying. There is desperately little action. Stilgar is basically a comic relief character here, from a tough guy to a rather good-natured, easily fooled goofball. The finale, which is incredibly rushed, is an absolute disappointment, the Sardaukars do nothing, the duel does some impact but nothing stunning. The death of the Baron doesn't feel satisfying because he's already a defeated wreck before, in fact . Feyd Rautha has absolutely not enough room to make his character stand out in any more complex way, he appears too late and is, unlike the brilliantly portrayed Harkonnen in Part 1, cartoonishly evil and badass. The Emperor is portrayed as a senile old man with alzheimers. Bad casting, bad direction, bad writing. I wonder in vain if there's any really wow scene that sticks in my mind like, for example, the simple yet coldly compelling scene of the Imperial messenger's arrival on Caladan, the Sardaukar's inaudible flutter as they attack the palace of Arrakeen, The scenes with the Baron, while brief, immediately evoked darkness and fear, the absolutely stunning scene on the planet Srdaukar with great "voice" accompaniment, Duncan Idaho's fight against the odds, the Escape from the Ornithopher with the use of "voice". There's just nothing like it in part 2! There's a nice attack on a harvester with the help of a rocket launcher and, let's say, the taming of a worm. But those are such classic action sequences, the first one could impress in other ways.
Hey, those are all very valid points, but for me personally part 2 is better. The worm riding scene alone was better than most of part 1 for me. Feyd Rautha was wildly enterteining, even though one dimensional, but thats a Harkonnen problem, not a Feyd Rautha problem. Overall, I do get where you're coming from, cause part one is really great aswell, but personally this one made me more excited for the Dune universe
@@njultraflickshow3646 Timothy Chalamet is miscast. And Zendaya also, though her acting is the better if compared between the two. Unfortunately, I felt nothing for either of them, or for their journey. For a desert romance and coming of age tale, this is a serious shortcoming. Nevertheless, Austin Butler is a revelation as Feyd, and likewise Lea Seadeux as Lady Fenring and Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica, so the movie is not without its charms. I also like how truly bizarre the narrative is becoming. Nevertheless, Part I is, I feel, the objectively superior film; Part II is sloppy, and you can tell a lot was left on the cutting room floor. Taken as a whole, Dune is a solid experience, beautifully shot, yet unevenly acted. 7.5. Blade Runner was far better.
@@dontforget3113 I feel Timothy grew on me on this film specially because of the developement he got, Zendeya sounded like she wasnt from Arrakis at all at some points. But yeah, Austin Butler was really amazing, and Rebecca Ferguson as Jessica was scary 😂 overall, I feel the back to back viewing experience whenever this movie comes out is gonna be a must.
No one's ever made sand look so interesting before...
Great video 💡

I actually ordered the first 3 books as soon as the movie ended, cant wait to dive into the lore and universe!!!
@@njultraflickshow3646 Don't be afraid to read it again. You find little things you didn't notice or didn't realise the importance of.
This is the new star wars ❤
I thought the same - the first part was ok but OMG this second part was amazing!
