  • In the latest episode of the Streets of Dublin Simon podcast, we speak to Clive who has participated in the Dublin Simon ‘Step Up Step Down’ programme. This programme provides short term medical and nursing care including interventions and treatment for people experiencing homelessness. We would like to thank Clive for his frankness and honesty in sharing his personal story. This was a really important and enlightening conversation about one man’s lived experience of homelessness.

Clive comes across to be a really nice guy something had clearly gone wrong in his life in the past and there does not seem to be a safety net to stop people becoming homeless. In order for people not to take Street drugs the doctors must give out the medication that people ask for

When clive felt really down and had to turn to Street drugs if he had been given maybe two diazepam a day and a sleeping tablet at night and maybe a couple of tramadol pain killers he would not have turned to Street drugs,,,, doctors will often turn people down for this type of medication but then end up putting them on methadone a year or two later
