All of it. Computerization has mainly been used for systems to assist the driver and for safety. Train management systems, radio equipment, passenger info systems etc. While there are plenty of safety systems that have been improved and implemented and what not, the train is moved and monitored by the driver themself with the assistance of safety systems and train to signaller contact.
@@emily1 What about when he comes to a busy junction and has to switch tracks, is that controlled by a computer system? I remember old western movies where they used to pull on a large lever to switch a trains direction, is that computerized now?
Ding ding! I'm a tram and I approve this video!!!!
I myself get a train frequently fron Manchester Piccadilly on this route to Birmingham and I always enjoy the ride whenever I go there!.
All those Staffordshire Blue bricks! Not all the smoke and chimneys of the Sixties, but still quite impressive. Many thanks.
Good video . A trip I have done many times .
Nice quick journey to the Birmingham New Street.
Good video. Thanks.
Pity there is not a video of a train going from Wolverhampton low-level , to Birmingham Snow Hill station
Seems a fun job, getting to know the routes and stuff. i would do it, don't think its boring at all.. some routes are better than others though
I'm surprised how dark it was in the New Steet tunnel. I thought the train lights would shine the way, but it's pitch black!
Probably more to do with the camera than the train lights. I can see enough.
bit strange to see Coseley from the cab
Nice to see watery lane signal box again, shame it got knocked down.
From 16 minutes on I can see the light at the end of the tunnel
There are some very long platforms on this route,
Dudley Port is tiny.barely 4 car lengths
The zoom is making feel seasick!
Sorry to hear this. A cheap camera.
As the Class 158 is Arriva Trains Wales, any chances of a cab ride from Shrewsbury to Wolverhampton?

hmm!
I'm new to this and have questions. How much driving does the train driver actually do? Is it all computerized these days?
The driver is in full control of this train.

What a load of junk there was along the route. Bits of old rail and other debris. Its as bad as its always been in the West Midlands.
it's not too bad in the west midland railway😕😕
Its the same in all built up areas in every Town and City..........Its only the cross country routes that are junk free
