    Reminds me of my old days on the G.E , when i used catch the 04:20 staff train from Stratford to the Liverpool Street during the week, then dash across to platform 4 to ride with the driver of the empty car set to Enfield town , where would get dropped off by the lincoln road crossing to sign on for duty.

    1:45 look to you Right you will see a section of the bridge goes over nothing.
    This was the former East london line terminus at shoreditch which used to run Railway trains to Liverpool street until the underground took over. The station closed in june 2006 and the whole line closed in december 2007 and was reopened as part of the overground in 2010.

    Wow!! Thank you for providing this video - this is one segment of LTS that I never got to view during my time in London in the mid-late 90s. Terrific "this is how it is" didn't require any narrative whatsoever - the alarms speak to themselves. Well done.

    When I was a lad Ilford was just 11 minutes from Liverpool St.
    That was on the hourly Colchester train which ran non-stop to Ilford (even avoided Stratford). Travelling on a 312 meant that we could see a driver's eye view (unless the driver lowered the blinds).
    Sometimes the journey was on a 309 - very nice indeed!
    I always aimed my travel to travel on these trains; nowadays we only have slow "all stations" which take 50% longer.

    Interesting to note that at the back of Ilford car sheds there was going to be a connection with the Central Line at Newbury park, which began outside the car sheds and joined the former Great Eastern line at Newbury park.

    Funny to think that all the sub terrain stuff up to about 1:09 was one all open air.
    I notice that a lot of the overhead wiring structures have changed too.
    Is there a mass replacement programme in progress or something? The old 1949 original DC equipment must be getting a little creaky by now I would have thought!?

    • @cameronirvine37703
      @cameronirvine37703 4 года назад +4

      todd hunter it means there’s a possible single yellow ahead. A flashing double means you’ll expect a flashing single wish then means the next signal is a diverging single yellow. That then means you need to assume the road is at danger. Hope that helps :)

    Hello,
    May I ask, how did you become a train driver with GA? Is there an apprentership you took or some form of course? How did you apply? Thank you.

    • @tajulislam1522
      @tajulislam1522 2 года назад

      Every TOC, when they run a recruitment programme for train drivers, they either look for "Experienced or Qualified Drivers" or they run a run a programme called "Trainee Train Drivers", in which, the latter is what you need to apply for. C2C were recruiting part-time Trainee Drivers for last summer (2021), its best to always check each TOC's careers website to see what they have.
      The other way you can become one is, if you get a job such as a platform assistant job with GA, then, when an internal opportunity for a trainee train role appears, you can apply within.

  • @Cliffjumper24

    Oh yeah.... I thought it was a 379... forgot they had a corridor connection.
    Thanks for the correction! :^)
    LTS Rail run 4 services into Liverpool St per day (as used to happen in BR days)
    I thought they'd stopped doing this under privatisation... I had to check the timetable to be sure!

      Too many short blocks in that stretch. I don't know why the signals are so close together as far out as that: it isn't the same on other routes, including out of central London, once one clears the complexities of close-together junctions and multiple roads/routes. It doesn't seem to be necessary, at least to this (admittedly inexpert) eye…

    • @86501freightliner
      @86501freightliner 6 лет назад

      He's using the down suburban lines, used by the high-frequency Shenfield "Metro" services. The short signalling blocks are short to allow this high-capacity service that runs every six-minutes in the peak.
