The tongue bite in black and white is my favorite. It feels like such a genuine "goofy teen" moment with the braces and the funny face. Ortho was a great choice for this shoot, keep up the great work Taylor
🥹
"classic American girl" is exactly the vibe I couldn't name.. what a great sesh.. good job Tay:)
the color styling you did has to make me pick the digital as my favorite. Those blue eyes just pop
Ok we need all family portraits taken on Ortho from now on 🤌
the way you present your work and the edition of your episodes are simply beautiful. And the soundtrack... amazing! Thanks for present us Tigers on the sky! 🤩 I personally love digital and analogic photos, each one have their lovely details.
Awesome way to tell the story of the shooting. Highly entertaining. Thank you.
huge compliment. thank you!!!
3:50 killer shot! This channel is getting better and better! Thank you so much!
Ahh she's a natural!! Well done to both of you!
I love the color ones. They have so much character.
amazing shots!! i think i prefer the black and whites, but the color ones are amazing in their own way!!
I love everything about this video. You killed it and so did your niece. I’m inspired now to go try this with my nieces. Thankyou for also detailing everything you do it really helps from someone who really just started getting into film ❤
Thank you for the photoshop editing tips! I always appreciate it when people go through the post-process
The film photos have the certain quality you cant really reproduce with digital and as you said, the falloff, sharpness and also the grain is amazing. So my favorite photos are definitely the b&w ones
You absolutely nailed this shoot, love it!
Awesome photos! Color and B&W are great. I prefer the B&W on film(subjective), but they’re both 10/10. Thank you for the great content Taylor!
The Gum photo was stunning. The eyes say everything like you said and that was my favorite photo, all of which were phenomenal. great videooooo
these photos came out beautifully!
Hard to choose! But I'll go with the digital ones just because of the color and how beautiful it looks.
Great video, great song for the final ✨
I love the contrast and pop with the black and white ortho! This is one of my favorite ways to use ortho! 💗
The color photos are something special! They are on my mind since you posted them on instagram. I take a lot of photos of my kids and these kind of photos would be the ultimate goal!
Killer shots. Love your shots on both, that film really was a great choice! High regards to your talented model. Such a work of passion. Great stuff!
The kid's a natural! I love the minimal setup. And they definitely do scream GAP - specially with the plain white T and the more sassy expressions - the bubblegum etc. The B&W headshots definitely have gravitas, something I feel like the medium captures better than digital? I dunno maybe just me. Little bit of that Sofia Coppola-ness to them.
It's great that you uploaded a new video because I was rewatching the old ones from your channel ::)
My eyes watered and I felt nostalgic about my own adolescence. Likewise, this session made me think about my relationship with my own niece. Now I want to take more photos of her
crying
The color shots look amazing but that very FIRST film one @3:50… WOW!
So much power, character, and yeah those eyes just POP! Amazing work as usual. Oh, and that adjustment in post for the freckles, thank you!
One more thing… the video shots are also amazing, those close ups are just as good as the still photos, what did you use for the video?
PS: That Sissi Lu portrait of you… GORGEOUS!
Absolute perfection on the highest level!
I got sick of digital B&W so I only shoot B&W film for my work. Orthochromatic film was definitely the way to go. Color is out of this world! Everyone has their preferences for color. I was scrolling through IG-there has never been a time where I stop and I am just absolutely get blown away by color images. I am impressed. As a Nikon D700 shooter for color work only I got the same vibes from my favorite images from that camera. Wonderful, got me hyped and even more inspired to go out and shoot which I do anyway.
Mind blowing
The difference between the orthochromatic color-spectrum and the panchromatic (most black and white filmstocks) is the fact that ortho excludes the reds where as pan is sensitive to all the colors.
Gorgeous portraits! Can't really tell which ones I like more b&w or color : ).
Thanks, you are an inspiration.
Think you might have just nudged me more towards the GFX now 😍
These shots are so awesome! I also really appreciated the short editing tutorial.
so wholesome 🙌 here all day for this content
Nice work on both the digital and film. I tend to prefer black and white, but in this case, the color was equally powerful in all images.
I love the colour photos a lot❤
both digital & film are gorgeous!
love ur choice of music too
ooh, thank you! that’s my favorite compliment to get. I have a weekly playlist on Spotify if you wanna check that out!
Definitely the B&W shots. Very Richard Avedonish.
Both are amazing, digital or analog, lots of detail 👌📷 blue eyes on film, they definitely beat the digital version. 👏📷
Just bought a roll of orthochromatic ILFORD! My nephew has beautiful light blue eyes and turns one year next month. Nice discovery, Thanks Taylor!
These were all so great. It's hard to pick because I love B&W, but I also love the GFX colors.
she's a natural! sick shots
true that - she nailed it first try
looking forward to your choice of outro songs with each new video is becoming one my favorite things on youtube, Taylor
😭 🎶
Beautiful photography, awesome narration, great soundtrack and brilliantly edited. Makes me want to take portraits. Love your work.
😭😭😭😭
thank you so much!
Great shoot - I think the film shots speak to me more... but maybe because i have a think about film and B&W currently. Great work!
I’m impressed by the film, will need to try Ortho plus on my wife. Also excellent song choice at the end!
YESSS a grain check video on a rainy morning? Tranquil vibes lol Awesome video!
good morning!
Beautiful work. Simple and stripped down.
im a film boi through and through, but i love the digital shots!! i am a sucker for some crispy shots and the GFX delivers every time haha. great shots and video taylor!
so true. that’s what makes it a bit undeniable 🤤
I'm a big fan of Ortho 80!
first time I shot it it was pretty overcast and the lens I had on hand was a bit slow.
Pushed it to 320 and it worked out pretty well. got some pretty dramatic contrast out of the roll! I've shot about half my rolls that way since then
I love ortho plus! It's my fav bw film but I have never used it in a studio setting. Def something I want to do in the future. Great video!
Good vid, my instant reaction to the film shot was 'wow', not sure if its more the lens and the depth of field, or the actual qualities of medium format film, but I was surprised how much I preferred it.
sometimes you can’t put your finger on it ❤️🔥
These all look amazing.
Nice photos. I wouldn't say I like one better than the other really, I think they compliment each other. You should definitely take her to a good agency if you havent already.
Love the GFX, but I give slight edge to the film photos here. Cool soundtrack too!
Loved the film shots, the one at 3:50 is great. You both nailed it!
I was thinking about how all-American this felt and when you said 'GAP' it clicked for me!
Totally stealing that freckle / Photoshop trick. Also, great Track Club score selections🤘
Thanks for this Taylor
My preference is usually B&W film because it transcends time. But these color ones look great here. So I'm going to cast my vote for color being my favorite. Great job though!!
I love this video, and the shots from both. I feel a mixture of missing my GFX and a strong desire to shoot some medium format film. 😢
I was amazed by the Ortho highlighting the blues…
I love Ortho!
Definite Mr Elbank vibes from the B&W photos in particular
I personally like the film shots better, probably with some editing or a slightly faster lens on the GFX and they could probably match or exceed the film but the film does have that magic.
Babe wake up Taylor just dropped a new graincheck video !!
🥱❤️🔥
Great video and photos! Loved the song at the end too!👌🏻 really like the black &white ones the most i think but color was great too!
Btw for some reason when I clicked on the video i only read grain and thought it was Jasons video, and thought to myself that it was a bit unusual for him to shoot portraits, and then I heard a girls voice and was like wtf lol😂
LOL X 1 MILLION
Love the photos! Would like to have seen the Pentax 645 with Portra 160 as a comparison.
agh, I would but I’m doing a year of black and white film only 🫡
love it ! :))))
Great video and great photos!
In my (amateur) experience so far I got the best color photos out of my digital camera (cheap used Sony a68) and the best b&w photos with film (APX 100 & 400 in my Praktica MTL 5B). But on both cameras I use almost always vintage lenses from East Germany (Carl Zeiss Jena, Meyer-Optik Görlitz, Pentacon). I just sent in my first @silbersalz35lab film (250D) for development and am curious what the results will look like. I also have Ilford and ORWO b&w film to try out soon.
So inspiring! ❤
What a fun time! She must have had the best introduction to modeling.
I need to borrow the expressions checklist. Seems like a good way to get past the "What do I do?" awkwardness
oh 100%! and keeping it to actions and not just where you want them to land
Awesome pics !
New graincheck 🎉
We need more studio and photoshop tips and guides!!
yeah?!
I like the film results more but thats just because I'm generally more drawn to black and white when it comes to these kind of portraits.
BEAUTIFUL T!
Loved the photos, wonder if it’s possible to make the freckles as pronounced with Lightroom instead of PS
Sorry, can't choose. Your color edition is absolutely beautiful but that bnw gave you amazing results. My fridge keep one roll of Ortho 80 for months but still not tried. Sorry for my english. Your niece could have a future modeling and thanks a lot for the track!! Hope is in Chips
Amazing!
Great portrait session! Can you talk a bit about “trust” when getting the most out of a portrait session?
Maybe I should do a video about this 🤔
@@graincheck Now that is a great idea!
Wow!
Your lighting was it strobe or continuous lighting? Great job.
Continuous! An aperture 120d
ugh now I have to go buy this film stock, the contrast too sick to pass up on!
DO ITTTTT! what a breath of fresh air
Those GFX shots 👌👌
3:02 cracked me the f up🤣🤣
i love the film :) so pretty model ;)
Thank You ✌🏼️
Nice photos all of them. The bw film ones have a vibe and look of their own though - definitely prefer those ones.
I love the music. What’s it called?
The last song?? It’s called cool by tigers in the sky :)
Hi: what's your favorite b&w film stock? Thanks
beautiful.
The best single shot to me was the black and white at 8:03. The color ones seem too real, and too much dynamic range where the black and white are more timeless and wonderful highlight falloff.
Hi! What's your lighting set-up here? Thanks!
I talk about light at 1:45 :)
great subject, those mf cameras make the skin pop!, and lovely colour and tones!!, one tip, if you ever get the chance to do a shoot with a hasselblad H (H1\2\3) DO IT!, you think these fuji GFX shots are good, the H with the hasselblad color science, and the famous 80 mm f 2.8 or the 35mm f4 you won't know what hit you; the pores of the skin show, like film grain, and the bokeh, you better be sitting when you look at them.( like the covers of vogue and other fashion magazines, these are the styles you get from this kind of gear).
She's lookalike Anne with an E! 🤣
Two quick things. Firstly, I mean this in a nice way, but some of the pictures had a 1970s feel to them (the colour ones in particular). Secondly, and more importantly, did she enjoy herself/get what she wanted from/see a future in it?
I think so 🥰
Photoshop not in dark mode?! My eyes ha ha
I really like the color, easily mistaken for film
Digital for me.
I think both worked.
not me yawning watching the fake yawns
I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS COMMENT
Three things at once :
1. Stunning shots, as always, love the energy. You are pure vitamin C I swear. Or D, kinda relaxing like summer vacations ahaha
2. Your niece is absolutely beautifull, hope she knows it
3. I've used Ortho+ for nudes and the results came out great, it's a formidable films stock in my opinion. Still, I can't help but wonder "would have the results been similar with panchromatic film and a blue filter 🤔
Much love, and can't wait for the next video
