    Also, leg ties (gauze, tape, or rope) to be even saver and to keep the hands away (gloved or not, again lead-gloved is advised to protect one from skin cancer over time and repetitive exposure) out of primary or shattered radiation exposure.

    How come you don’t cover the dog too? Rays are also harmful to them since they are mammals too.. cancerous too.. please advise?

      how do you reckon the xray would function if the xrays cannot go through the subject due to the shielding?

    Why are you not wearing gloves

    • @ashtonsquires3102
      @ashtonsquires3102 2 года назад

      You can’t actually hold a patient that’s not heavily sedated while wearing those oven mitts. Sedation isn’t always an option when doing X-rays. Even if the patient is sedated it’s incredibly hard to grip anything with the gloves on. You likely get more radiation from your cellphone always in your pocket and on your head.

      Vets/techs/assistants don’t usually have to wear gloves bc they can’t catch what the animal has. For X-rays it depends but if you’re far away enough like they were you don’t need the lead gloves they also make the job a lot harder

  • @sierragreen

    So awesome that you did this without sedating the dog! I think the risk of sedation to the dog is greater than the risk of x-ray exposure to the technicians.

      The dog was sedated. They could have easily done this hands free - much safer for everyone.

      @@lauramoen3383 I should have known, the dog was way too mellow.
