I wanted to share my personal experience with the Fujifilm X-M5 because, honestly, it drove me crazy during my first week using it. I had just bought this amazing camera, excited to start creating, and suddenly... it started turning off every 10-20 seconds. Imagine my frustration-mid-recording, mid-setup, it just kept shutting down out of nowhere!
I thought, "Did I get a defective unit? Is it a battery issue? What's going on?" I scoured the internet, watched countless videos, tried troubleshooting, but nothing seemed to work. Until finally, I stumbled across the solution-and it wasn’t what I expected.
Here’s the deal: the issue isn’t with the camera’s firmware-it’s with the lens firmware. Yes, you heard that right. If you don’t update the firmware on the lens, the camera can behave like this, and no one really talks about it! That’s why I decided to make this video-to save you the same headache I went through.
How to Fix It:
1️⃣ First, download the lens firmware update from Fujifilm's official site. Here’s the direct link.

2️⃣ Take a fresh, formatted SD card and save the firmware file on it.
3️⃣ Insert the SD card into your Fujifilm X-M5.
4️⃣ Navigate to the settings menu, find the firmware update option, and select the lens update.
5️⃣ Follow the on-screen instructions, and you’re done!
Once I updated the lens firmware, my camera worked perfectly-no more random shutdowns, no more frustration. It’s such a simple fix, but it can make all the difference.
