Great video, Jerome. I have a couple of Gumbo Limbos I've neglected and you've inspired me to spend more time with them. Also, neat idea to attach the tile to the base. I did that with a big Adenium a couple years ago and am excited to see how the lateral roots have grown. I never thought of doing it with a Gumbo Limbo. You guys do a great job and I admire your happy spirit and hard work...very clear explanations!
This is a cool video..i appreciate the knowledge you share..the care and respect for bonsai really showed how much you have as a whole for bonsai i have learned more from you than anyone...those other guys around the north west and around that blue grass state..kinda sand bag and just talk in circles of what they want to share..i respect you for the effort you give back to the community 💯 👌 💪
Um saludo desde Granada. España. Como todos tus vídeos magnífico, me gustan porque la mayoría de la gente hace videos pero después no pone la evolución como tu, gracias 👍
Hello from Lakeland grew up in PR. Man I loved the back grown music. You just took me back to PR where I was in the countryside. I can't wait for this pandemic to be over to visit your store.
Perfect timing for this video for me, I just got some gumbo cuttings last week! thanks for all the videos I am new to Bonsai and I have learned so much from your channel already. I live in Delray Beach and hope to get down to see your shop soon.
Amazing, Jerome! What did you originally plant the large cutting in? Type of soil? Rooting powder? Specifics please! LOL Can't believe the roots after 6 months! Thanks!
Melissa Chivington hey Melissa, thank you 🙏 the black soil had nothing to do with the many roots, it’s the specie that grows that strong. it was just potting soil and if you thought those roots were impressive, wait until you see the roots from our soil in a year or so when I repot it.
Hallo Jerome...super Video, klasse Baum 👍👍 meinst diese Art Baum wächst in Deutschland auch so schnell? Hier ist das Klima komplett anders als bei euch. Alles gute für euch 😊 Gruß Andy
Hey Andreas, thank you for your kind words, I’m glad you enjoyed it. It will grow fairly fast anywhere during the summer as long as you protect it during the winter month you should be fine.
Hey Don, absolutely! I am not sure about peach bonsai, but cherry yes. Cherry blossoms will not give you fruit and they are fairly short lived. Black Cherries will give you fruit and live for a very long time.
Hey man! Awesome tree!....question....could you send me a cutting....i would be happy to pay for it and shipping....i live in south carolina...not ideal for this tree but i have a greenhouse and can keep it well protected from our weather....
Not to be lazy or critical, but why did you defoliate the entire tree if you knew that you would be cutting it back hard? There were no leaves on the branches that you cut back to other than just a few.
Awesome work Jerome and Mari, great to see the tree take a giant step forward!
Thank you Nigel, it’s always satisfying to see your trees progress. Hope you are well, 🌳
Thanks for making this fun! Can't wait to start my Gumbo Limbo Bonsai. =)
Yet another informative video. Sir, you never cease to amaze.
Thank you for your kind words Kunal 🙏🌳
Yo, Jerome...I just watched this video again and always learn so much from your teaching. Thanks!
Awesome work. Beginning of a gorgeous tree. Love your work. Mari looks beautiful, as usual
Thank you CK!
What an awesome video. I love learning about new species of trees. Thank you both!
Thank you very much🙏🌳

Unreal that you were able to root a cutting that thick. Gotta be 4-5 inches around.
Crazy!

thanks for another great video bro :D
I’ve got one much smaller that I started the same way. Amazing how they will root from large cuttings. Thanks
Hey Matt, gumbos are becoming quickly a new favorite of mine.
Thats the biggest cutting i have ever seen!
Nice vid, thanks!
Awesome lesson and tree! I'll have to find me some gumbo down here in Florida! 😁
Thank you David 🙏🌳 shouldn’t be too hard, they grow all over the place

Awesome. I from PR but I live in Florida. Please where I can find that kind of tree here in Florida.
Hey Pedro, you can find a gumbo literally on almost every street corner.
I have to big ones in my backyard, if you want them you can have them lol
@@mr.boostang2064 yes please
The wood is soft enough to pair of the bark and wood with a sharp knife or wood working chisel, we call that orange bark the Trump tree.
Thanks for the great video. Do You have any medium Gumbos for sale.
Bob e
Impressive sir, how do make all your plant so healthy 😁
woww..very big, is this from cuttings? how old is this bonsai material?
Plant Craft DIY yes, cutting! I would say the tree this came from is around 20-30 years old
Parabéns árvore bruta linda

Danke für die schnelle Antwort,da muss ich mal schauen wo es so einen Baum zu kaufen gibt...
Any updates on this Gumbo Limbo?
Hi
Do you know if the roots will crack concrete and structures, I am planning to plant this tree 12 ft from main house and 10 feet from garage?
Obrigado (thanks) 🌳
Thank you Antonio 🙏🌳
Can you use a fruit bearing tree like a cherry or peach? Would they still bear fruit?
Hey Don, absolutely! I am not sure about peach bonsai, but cherry yes. Cherry blossoms will not give you fruit and they are fairly short lived. Black Cherries will give you fruit and live for a very long time.
Hey man! Awesome tree!....question....could you send me a cutting....i would be happy to pay for it and shipping....i live in south carolina...not ideal for this tree but i have a greenhouse and can keep it well protected from our weather....
wow
crazy species
Does anyone know what the orange stuff they applied to the cuts is?
Yes, it is cute paste. It is used to seal the wounds to prevent moisture loss.
Me gustaría saber como le llaman en centro América a ese árbol
is there a risk that water will not drain from the tile ? what about that ?
Can you suggest me what type of whether it should be to plant such thick trunk.. I mean i m from India & it's too hot here..
tropical trees in the summer, deciduous in spring and conifers in the wintertime
Thank you
Put it on the bigger pot or plant it on the ground so you can growth the root much faster....
Haris Dareen Athaya I don’t want the tree to grow bigger anymore. In the pot I can grow the roots more controlled
🙏🙏🤔👍
Interesting, I was wondering why Gumbo Limbo isn't used in Bonsai, because the bark is beautiful. Now I know, it can't really be wired.
Hey Michael, it can be wired but you have to be very careful, they snap so easy
I like you brother.
Not to be lazy or critical, but why did you defoliate the entire tree if you knew that you would be cutting it back hard? There were no leaves on the branches that you cut back to other than just a few.
Hey Shaun, it was to see the entire structure! I always defoliate th entire tree to get a better look.
Why did u remove the leaves if u were really going to cut the branch? 😂😂
To see the structure of the entire tree. This will help me make better pruning decisions.
Whats the tree in the background on the right in the end sweet gum?
Hey Alexander, That’s a desnodium
@@WeareTheBonsaiSupply no the full size tree in the background
