These Bagatelles I've looked at a few times and never been patient enough to put the work in due to the tremendous effort involved! So anyone who can perform then to this standard deserves my RESPECT

I suggest you dont check out Julian Bream (for whom they wre written ). .If this performance is two dimensional and rather careful , which it is , Bream plays it in four. or more additional dimensions. What I miss from performances such as this is the sense that, as Ashkenazy said , once the first note is played the whole performance is a an inevitable extension of it. Something that only a truly great musicians, such as Bream, can achieve.
@@radoklose9779 Of course Bream is the OG master. This interpretation is modern, less romantic, and that appeals to my ear. Love it, and love Bream too, of course.

These bagatelles by Walton are amongst my favourite in the guitar repertoire, Walton was also very happy with his pieces that he eventually arranged them for orchestra, fantastic playing by miss Selder

I’ve seen Ana Vidovic play this live which was impressive, but this interpretation brings out a different atmosphere. As if I can feel the notes bring out it’s melodic characteristics to fruition.

I was just looking at my collection of videos on my hard drive and saw this video of a 7 year old girl playing pretty decent on some classical piece, nothing real difficult. Saw the camera date was 1998 and wondered if she was still playing. Yes, I guess she is, very well too.

I want to keep an open mind (and an open ear) regarding this atonal composition. It helps to be hearing this powerful, "clean", playing by Isabella... Seems like: releasing oneself from the tonal gravitation offers instead many musical possibilities. But one has to do without the prominence of melody too, unfortunately, for this piece doesn't offer any - just interesting sound effects.
Maybe, it takes hearing it over and over.
Magnificent playing, nonetheless. I want too hear some more from this guitarist. Thx.
Atonal? Really? The closest Walton ever came to that was in his Second Symphony in which he used a twelve-tone theme but in a tonal context. Shostakovich also did something similar in, for example, his string quartet # 12. But these are tonal compositions, although they sound chromatic.

She's wonderful. Maybe even 2nd best. But Julian Bream will always own these. Nobody brings more color.......to any piece.
i actually consider this is the one time that someone managed to transcend a bream performance. what selder does here is unrivaled.
Written for Bream, his recording will never be surpassed but this recording is Really Fine !!
