- It's WWII and we're British! Aces of the Luftwaffe is Handy Games' 2015 shooter and first major console release and it's up to players to take the fight to the Germans and their aces in five major battles. Seeing as it is the company's first major console release and a budget title, I do my best to remain fair yet objective to the game.
Do your best and stay the course!

The top-down view on a horizontal shooter feels a little weird IMO. Like it was originally a vertical shmup and then they decided to make it side-scrolling at the last minute. Still looks decently fun for 5 bucks.
Yeah I could see that being the case especially since the sequel (Squadron) is vertical. The top-down rule depends though because Lightening Force has a similar mechanic and is generally well received. Maybe I should look into playing and reviewing that soon!
Squadron is much better IMO (well sort of since I’ve played that one and Im just looking at the gameplay for this).
I like the simplicity of this game as it looks like a good pickup and play for a couple of hours.
Enjoyed the review and looking forward to more in the future👍
For sure! I'm really looking forward to Squadron and Nebelgeschwader when I get around to them. This first one is good as a sort of nice simple starting point for the series👍
This game doesn't look awful but gives me big mobile phone game vibes. I wonder if that's why it's a sideways vertical game
It's hard getting information on this first game outside of the Steam and website descriptions but the whole focus on unlocking things led me to surmise that the phone port may have had some freemium elements.
Great review buddy 👍
Thanks, gull payne!
Handy Games were real handy with this game lol it looks ok you can tell it was made more for phones wish is not always a bad thing as long as its priced right
I agree it’s good for what it is, if anything I’m excited to see how “handy” they were in the sequels :D
That was very unexpected at the begining Ha Ha. I like the WWII shooter theme. But if you are playing a British RAF fighter in a Spitfire. Should you not be drinking Tea not coffee while you play?🤔I am a shooter tourist and get intimidated by them easy I do enjoy just playing them with no expectation of beating them. For $5 Sure I might buy it. Thanks
Lol! If it's any consolation, I made some tea for some Rareware month. As a shooter tourist, you may find some enjoyment here, plus it'll add to your card collection :P
@@Majora_T ok that's ok then 👍
British Air Force is badass, don't fuck with them.
Tell 'em, Terry!
RAF! RAF! RAF!
In the thumbnail you say it's a spaceship...its an airplane 😂
Lol true. I’m used to calling the genre spaceship shooters.
