My Dad had a horse as a teen that half Morgan and half Quarter Horse. He said she was a great horse-super fast, with a lot of stamina, and a fabulous personality.
I would have never thought I'd be impressed at something braking and going backwards, but the immediacy with which those hundreds of pounds of muscle tensed up and halted the momentum of the entire horse was palpable.
Tell you one thing I have autism and I happen to own 3 horses and not one of them are quarters but I have huge respect for quarter horses because of their pride and heart for the kind of horses they are but at least my big ole giant former 19 hand stallion and 2 mares love me and have pride like they do but I'm forever grateful for my 3 and I think horses are the best part of my life regardless of their looks as long as they're beautiful on the inside and we have a perfect bond together I love them like family like they're my kind. I take pride in horses and have huge respect for all kinds.
There's a quarter horse at my universities barn named Patriot. He's little but fast. I rode him once and even a canter, I was surprised by his speed. I wasn't even asking him to reach his top speed and he was just like ZOOOOOOOOOM!
Genetics still play a huge role. Some animals are just more skittish or more independent than others. And therefore need a lot to time and energy. While more trainable animal are very very motivated and love to learn. You don’t see a Belgian malinois do a border collie job.
I’m very good with all kinds of animals, and I once trained a domestic cat to jump through a hoop, sit on command, and rollover. I can tell you right now the breed and individual temperament of the animal makes a HUGE difference. The cat I trained was a calico with a very playful personality similar to a dog’s. I tried to rain my all-black part-Siamese cat in the same way, and she adopted a haughty, prima Donna attitude that was impossible to mold. Animals can have very distinct personalities that can make them very resistant, no matter how much you gently and patiently work with them. If you don’t believe me, read all about the great racehorse Seabiscuit’s sire, Hard Tack. Hard Tack had incredible speed and stamina, but was so headstrong that he once refused to bolt out of the racing gate when it flew open, and once even attempted to impale his jockey on the racing rail. He was so dangerous (even after months and months of patient training) they finally retired him. All his speed and stamina made them persist for a long time, but in the long run he was useless as a race horse.
They started out as a mix of Spanish and English bloodlines brought over by colonists. There's also been some mustang and draft horse bred into them a little further down the line. The first registered stallion was Wimpy P-1 bred by the King Ranch in Texas. His sire was Old Sorrel who came out of a bloodline called Steeldusts.

They may not look perfect, but who cares when they are great. That’s a great adage for life. Oh, and Chicken Hawk is a real looker.
My favorite horse breed!
I like her. She seems like a genuinely wise and kind woman!

Love this breed of horse! Grew up with them and they are amazing animals!
One saved my life once. She stopped in her tracks from a canter when the saddle turned.
My favorite 🐎 of all time 💪

Nice!!
I would have liked to know how the breed developed.

Awesome
Are they used in POLO??
They'll turn or stop on a dime, then toss you back nine cents change.
Vaughn Throughway
Thoroughbreds are also built for speed at long distances and so rarely do they get credit for it
Yeah I got a rare buckskin thoroughbred wild mustang cross and he's got a heart of gold and not to mention he's a giant 19 hands approximately.
The Triple Crown races have highlighted the speed of Thoroughbreds for decades.
Just to listen to their contrntment ?? Great
👍🏼
اميركان فقط؟ لقد اضحكتني 😂
Can't find them in RDR2.
It's a shame they didn't add Quarter Horse in RDR2 as it was a horse commonly used in that time. There's Quarter horse in RDR1 though.
